I put 3 hours each day after lunch into our schedule to go back to the room and nap. I am using touring plans and it still gives us plenty of time to hit all of the "big" things we want to do. Better to miss a couple of attractions than to miss an entire evening cause my kid had a meltdown.

Nah, just beat the meltdown out of them. :lmao:

Morning guys. No news is good news as my boss said the closed door meeting really had nothing to do with him or any of us. His boss just needed an office to take care of an issue while she was over here. :thumbsup2

That is good news.

On a MK day a few years ago, my then 1.5 yr old was crying like crazy and wouldn't stop. Wife took her to Hall of Presidents and she sat there with her for three consecutive shows while me and the non-crying kids hit haunted mansion and a couple mountains. The kind CMs let her just sit there because my daughter had fallen asleep. Plus my wife was very excited to have learned so much about presidents.

Podcast idea - where to nap with the children at WDW?
Epcot has some good ones as well.

Interesting drive in to work today. Almost killed myself. Apparently I was driving a tad fast for conditions and fish-tailed in the rain on a pretty major road this morning. No other cars were involved and I'm not hurt (although I threw two hubcaps in the process). At one point the car turned all the way to 9 o'clock. I seemed to correct the skid but then whipped around past 12 o'clock to where I was pointed towards 3 o'clock. I kept it in the grass median the whole time.

What's the right move?

Sorry to hear you started the work day this way. The correct answer would be to call in sick and go get a donut.

I have one for you, when you are breaking the time barrier, is it, a jump to the right, then a step to the left, or the other way around?

The left.

Morning Duck. And a happy National Doughnut Day.

Norm, tough loss last night. Bad 4th quarter doomed them. Don't know how they could have better defended Parker at the end. That was a killer. Entertaining game though. If they win on Sunday, then this is looking like a great series. Have to win Sunday before going to Texas for three.

Everyone have a great day today in prep for a better weekend.

Doughnut day. What a great marketing idea. I think the calendar needs to include a give Norm money day. It was a tough game. SA missed a lot of shots and LeBron looked tired - not a good combination. Bosh has really been exposed in the last series and this game - he is a 6'11" shooting guard - a position that Miami already has. Time to send LeBron to the post.

Nope. But she is closer to 5, and hates strollers with a passion. She refuses to sit in the silly thing, and then we just have to drag it around.

Mine were so tired from me dragging them around WDW, they were begging for the stroller. My youngest couldn't say her Rs very well, so would ask for her strollet. Like good parents, we make continue to make fun of that.

Can't have a BLT with out the L!

That sandwich would look better on a Krispy Kreme.

One week until we leave. :cool1:

Losing the will to keep focused. This is not a good thing. I have to train the newest member of our team just enough so that he can make sure things don't turn into a collosal mess while I'm gone but not enough that anyone could think he would be able to replace me on a full time basis. :lmao:

That is certainly a fine line to walk. Good luck! :rotfl::rotfl2::lmao:

Sorry guys I haven posted lately. I have been able to read a couple of pages but with the new job and getting the camper ready I haven't had time. We leave wed at one with the camper and arrive at WDW early on fri. Can't wait for the break!!!

Evening guys. Spent the morning at the hospital getting a endoscopy (scope of my esphogous) done. All looks good, and the drugs were tremendous. :thumbsup2 Now I get to lie on the couch and have DW wait on me. Great stuff! ;)

Chris glad the car incident didn't involve any injury. :thumbsup2

Barry, nice to see people around here telling you you're right about something for once. :thumbsup2

I seemed to correct the skid but then whipped around past 12 o'clock to where I was pointed towards 3 o'clock. I kept it in the grass median the whole time.

But here's the question. How do you correct a skid? I know the old saying about turn in the direction of the skid. I think I did it right, my co-worker thinks I did it wrong. So when I was driving and the car turned 90 degrees to my left (9 o'clock) I turned the wheel back up towards my original 12 o'clock heading. That's right, isn't it? If I had turned towards 6:00 that seems like it wouldn't have been the right move. I also jammed on the breaks but I think I should have actually accelerated a little.

What's the right move?

You were mostly right. I can't speak for any of the new-fangled vehicles with their fancy-pants electronic stability control whos-it-what-its, but steering into the skid is the proper technique. For example, if your back end is coming around on on your right, turn the wheels to the right. This keeps the front tires aligned in the direction the momentum of the vehicle is going, allowing the rear end of the car to lose it's momentum naturally, and slide back into place.
Jamming on the brakes is the bad thing. It may seem like the thing to do - trying to stop the car from moving, but you actually want it the tires to keep rolling. You're on a slick surface - the car isn't going to stop no matter what you do to the breaks. Take you foot off the gas, but don't stomp the breaks. A light break tap may help, but you don't want to lock up the tires.

Oh, and glad to hear you're OK. Take the rest of the day off to recover. Take 4 strips of bacon. If you still don't feel better, eat a few more.

Well that right there just about sums it up.... Well done Barry!!! :thumbsup2

And glad you're ok Chris... :drive:

I'm here! I am a Dad, planning away to get my 2 princesses to see their favorite princesses, Rapunzel and Ariel. I would love to be counted among the DIS Dads. I live in Utah, and am starting to plan for a mid-March-early April Trip to Florida to take my girls and wife on a Disney Cruise and to spend some time in the World! :thumbsup2

I'm doing the same, and didn't even have to get an endoscopy....I WIN!

But then again, I didn't get the good drugs... so I guess it's a tie.

Welcome aboard! Randall will be along to give you your number. Dues payable in Dole Whips, Bacon, Cake, Burbon, or whatever Norm has a hankering for are sent to his mailbox (it is like the twilight zone but not as friendly). Pull up a seat and jump right in you haven't missed anything profound yet.

:welcome: to the DISDads....

Randall will be by shortly with a number for you, but until then make yourself at home. Grab a beer from the fridge, and find a spot on the couch.

I'm laying out plot plans for 1/3-acre of pole beans. You both win.

Well, Barry did tell us how to steer a car... that was kinda profound.

Laying on couch - good. Anything stuck inside you - bad.
