I assume we can expect another trip report. Have you chosen a theme yet? Any trivia/movie quote games along the way?

There will be a trip report. I'm going with the usual theme, which is "stupid stuff Mark says". I doubt I'll be doing the movie quote game this time. I've used up all of my favorite quotes already, and it gets to be a pain trying to keep track of points. So it'll probably be even less interesting than usual.

No not this time. I'd like to do it the next year though. I've hardly run at all since January.

Well, if it's any consolation, I haven't run much since January either. When I get back from my trip I need to kick it in to gear.

You've set the bar so high in the past. It's good to see you aiming to maintain those standards.

About 4 months until our next trip. Along with the planning comes anothe proud DIS Dad moment. My 5 YO DD perpetually asks me, "Can we do Disney trivia?" which means I ask her various questions about the Parks, attractions, restaurants, etc. Things that she can tell me...
  • The difference between quick service, table service and snack
  • The names of the 4 Parks and their key land marks.
  • MOST of the names of the lands. She can routinely name at least 6 areas of DHS...3 or 4 areas of AK....both areas of EPCOT and all the lands in MK
  • She knows, minimally, every ride that I name, the Park it resides, and in some cases, WHERE in the Park.
  • She knows where a variety of restaurants and their resorts. And if they are table or quick service.
  • She knows the year WDW opened and the order in which the Parks were built.
  • She knows all the stops of the monorail.

As we are all zealots here in the DIS DAD circle, let me know if there are other things that I can challenge her with. I'm at the point where I am now delving into Commando strategies and philosophy ("To purchase the DDP or not, that is the question!") which is very difficult to explain to a 5 YO who doesn't start Kindergarten until this Fall.

I've spent so much time on these topics with her, that she knows a bit more than her 8 YO sister! I need to spread the wealth!

He gets confused easily.

DW have been talking about getting a pop-up camper for years now. Hopefully we can get the cash together in the next couple of years. I'd love to take the kids up north and out to Yellowstone.

I Don't think that they allow camping in a popup at Yellowstone because of the Bears. That would add a interesting sidebar to a trip report.
We got an Expandable travel trailer. It has hard sides with pop out beds. DW and DD'rs wanted a bathroom. More work for me but much less complaining about walking to use the facilities. :thumbsup2
Happy women and all.......

Well, if it's any consolation, I haven't run much since January either. When I get back from my trip I need to kick it in to gear.

I started a 5K training program. Started off using a couch 25k one, then found one called Zombies, run! Pretty cool story line and has cool stats to show your progress. It's def motivated me. I have about 7 runs in so far.
The programs are both supposed to be 8 week programs (running 3x a week) but I am trying to run about 5x a week. I am trying to regulate myself else I might disqualify my member ship in Team Sparrow. So I need to make sure that I am incorporating rum into the training program.

That's impressive. You have a future tour guide on your hands. I'm pretty sure I would be stumped on the areas of DHS. Get her up to date with the MagicBand+. Or you can play her music from the parks and see if she can identify where it comes from.

Funny how you added that one. We have the park music CDs from a few years ago and the kids are getting to the point of saying, still there, not there, now its <blank>. Love me some Disney trivia geeks. :lmao:

<ETA> Oh and the fact that 2/3 of my DDs can sing the Carousel of Progress songs and drive DW batty in the process is icing on the cake.

So, how is that thing you got, that still remain un-named?

Hard to say. Occasional pain. The real test will be if I ever start running regularly again. Right around the half-marathon was when I was at my worst and it really blunted my appetite for running.

I am now scouring Amazon for the Disney park CD!
That's awesome. Some how my eldest pulled the Carousel of Progress song out the one day. I had no idea it made an impact. We didn't even it ride it last time we were there. Funny the things that stick with them.

Other funny things my kids will say...on certain mornings when we leave the house for work\school\daycare\summer camp, they will say "It smells like Disney World." And what they mean, is that part of the day where we are up and at the resort waiting for the buses.

My 8 yr old can even tell you what specific store the songs are from. She will hear something and say "hey dad this is from the shop behind the castle". For some of them I just have to take her word for it. Way past my level of observation and retention.

I just had a brilliant idea. I'm leaving work early on Friday to go see Man Of Steel followed by Star Trek. That's how to get Father's Day Weekend started off right! Summer blockbuster double-feature!

I told my wife if I'm getting a Blackhawks jersey for Father's Day, I'll need it by Wednesday. So far, no jersey and no indication that I'll get one. I had one in my college years and somehow lost it.

Good Morning Guys!

Got an email from SW this morning that they are running a new sale. Need to book by Thursday. It was based on the distance of your flights. Rebooked our flights for the August trip again, same flights, and saved another $108.:cool1::cool1::cool1: That gets the cost of our flights to under $200 each round trip. This is about what we paid to go about 4 years ago. Back to the future! Of course I used points to book so I get my points back and not actually $$, but every little bit helps, especially since I am hoping for a good bounce back deal when we are there. I may be able to convince the supreme ruler that we have the extra points towards flights and the discount to make it a no brainer. Take a look and see if you can save some $$.

Nice! Did you know that JetBlue is flying into Worcester starting in Nov? We're flying back from WDW there, $60/seat. Great deal!

Egads! We actually own a few acres in Maine, way up north. My mother is from there, and got the property when her mother passed away.(Called Houlton and/or Hodgton, if you want to look it up)

I spent a ton of summers up in Maine, and it is awesome. I would love to retire up in Maine, but to spend even a night with no running water, A/C, heat or bathrooms. Umm... Not only would I not find that fun, but my wife and daughters(I have three daughters) would no longer talk to me.

Wow, that really is way up north! We have a place in the lakes region, close to NH. We're up there quite a bit. Luckily though, we have running water. ;)

Yeah, it is a long drive up there even if you fly into Bangor. Which is what I did as a kid.

Now we just drive when we go up there. And it is always like, Look we are in Maine. And then look it is still 5+ hours away(I think, been a while since I drove it)... Big state...

I did a C2-5k program last year to get my running started and then used a modified Hal Higdon program to get myself up to the half marathon distance that I ran in January. Didn't do any running after the race until mid March. Was pretty good in March and April and even snuck in a 5 mile race. Then in May the wheels fell off. I got maybe 1 or 2 runs a week in for the first 3 weeks and haven't run 1 time since Memorial Day. Now that my DW has the summer off I plan to kick it back in to high gear with a regular schedule. My diet hasn't been good either so my DisDad's dri-fit shirts that I just got are a bit too snug to wear right now. Time to hit the reset button!:headache:

OK Paul and Jim. The Stanley Cup Finals start tomorrow. I'm laying it out there for a bet of 1 Dole Whip on the series, I've got Chicago. (I say 1 each because I don't want to put you guys into too much debt). :lmao:

I visited Caribou, ME for my first and only trip to the frozen tundra this past December. I felt like I was north of the wall.

Yeah, and Caribou is south of where I am talking about. :lmao:
