It's been a long time since I've posted on here, but I just wanted to say "Hi!"

:wave2: Welcome back! Hope the little ones are doing well and it looks as though they are eating well.

Back from the gift auction, Doing the math of all the ones I've been to, it is a quite lucrative venture, I'm a couple thousand ahead, even with some where I didn't win anything:woohoo:...

Always good to come out ahead. Looks like plenty of fun times for the family.

Well of course my minivan has to start giving us troubles 3 days prior to our trip. <sigh>

So after 500+ in repairs, it's back in tip top shape. The battery died on it this last weekend, and that was my bad, I should have replaced the thing a month or so ago after my mother in law left the lights on and drained the battery. <sigh>

And my wife, not trusting my mechanical skills made me take it to the mechanics today instead of me replacing the battery. In all fairness, we had the visit scheduled as we always get a once over prior to long trips.

So our mechanic, who we have used for 10+ years, gave me this list:

Front brake pads and rotors
Back rotors(The pads were lifetime so they are free except for labor)
Oil Change
Battery
Some assorted belts

He did it all this morning, and charged around 500 bucks. So while it sucks, it needed to be done, and I am just happy that we will be safe for the trip.

We leave on Thursday. :)

Best to be safe driving above all else. I know our Journey will need a few tune-ups and things done before we go too.

Yeah, overall I am happy with only that much in repairs. It is an older van, and I am cheap about my transportation. As long as it gets me there.

Once my wife gets a full time gig, she is a High School Chemistry teacher but has only been doing long term subbing, we will upgrade the mini van to something nicer. :)

And so the seemingly longest work week of the year begins, the week before vacation. The recital was a success on Saturday. I'm proud of the job DW puts on. I think total #'s for both shows got us to over 1500 in attendance. It's a tiring day when you consider the first show starts at 1:00 pm and we didn't get home from the wrap party until almost 2:00 am. We all slept in until between 11 and 12 and then all took long naps in the afternoon too! I don't think the DD's got to bed until after 11 last night though.

Happy to see my Blackhawks finished off LA. So now that they face the Bruins I guess it's time to throw down a wager for a dole whip. So come on Boston dads, who's up for it (here's looking at you Paul)?

Are you at Disney next week as well? I am staying offsite with the family, but will be at the parks almost everyday Sunday - Friday next week.

Better to have it done before you leave then have problems on the road.

In the next week I'm going our last 2 gift auctions till Oct. The 1st one is Sun afternoon, It is for breast cancer, will have a all you can eat BBQ, from what I hear the Bud Girls will be there:yay:, and a gift auction (I know one of the prizes are 1 week in Myrtle Beach SC)

The next one is next Fri at a church, some of the prizes I know of are Disney Hopper passes & passes for Lion Country Safari in West Palm Beach

I'm hoping for a huge haul this week:cool2:

Good luck! We're counting on you to get everything you can.

New moon tomorrow. I have to know these things. Some of the locals still plant and harvest by the signs.

My neighbor does the same thing. Swears it works. I can't get weeds to grow so no argument from me.

Morning guys! Today is our bid garage sale adoption fundraiser :thumbsup2.

Since it is also our community sale we are hoping for a lot of traffic!

Have a great one :cool1:

Heard it was awesome! Congratulations.

Morning gents! Head out in a couple of hours from BLT to port canaveral for the cruise.
Dvczerfs (Dave?)
Want to pass on that we did meet Briana yesterday while she was at her cart in new fantasy land. She was smiling away and working hard. Told her DISdads say high an that more were coming over the next weeks. Told her her dad was very proud of her and good luck cause the lady behind me in line was getting a bit antsy. She was working a cart between Gastons Tavern and Little Mermaid attraction. I will pm you when we get back in week to get you a couple I pics I took for ya.

Have not been able to stay current so to the rest of the Dads - GO HAWKS, welcome to the new guys, prayers to any that need them and enjoy the family time Dads.

Have a great cruise.

OK guys - here's an actual Disney question....(sorry for going back to on-topic for once.. ;))

On our next trip (in 7 days :cool1:) we're staying offsite. DW and I are thinking we are going to want to take afternoon breaks so our DD's can get some rest and we can escape the heat for a while.

But, in talking, we realized taking a break on our MK days might be a little cumbersome with the fact that we have to jump on a monorail or ferry just to get to our car and then drive 20 min to our condo.

Is there anywhere near MK that we could go to for some A/C and a relatively quite place for my DD's to nap for a little while?

My only thought was the contemporary 2nd floor area. It always seemed to be rather quiet.

Any other thoughts?

2nd floor at CR is good. We like to hang on the benches in the Polynesian lobby. Not sure that is so great for a nap, but the waterfall noise in the background and lighting seem like a good start. GF lobby is always pretty cool and available.

Opened the pool today. :lmao:

temporary-1684.jpg

Where is the poolside bar?

For real. There should be a kick your boss in the butt day (with no repercussions). Stupid bosses.

Sent from my iPad using DISBoards

Uuummmmmm......NO! I am one of those bosses. :lmao::lmao:

Hey. So do we have a move in date for CJ's yet? :confused3 I'm ready to go whenever. :thumbsup2

Been working on my empty-beer-can-toss. Pretty sure I'll be able to get my empties onto CJ's porch no matter where we park the camper. Green living baby! :cool1:

Don't forget to pick me up on the way. I'll send for the family after we get settled. I learned a new way to crush a can completely flat with two finger this weekend. Then we can just flip them like a frisbee.:lmao::lmao:

New plan. Until I can get DW to move to Florida in the camper in CJ's front yard, let's do some changes. Since we have the pool and table, I think I can dig up the grass and put in sand in the back yard. Then, on the fence, I can paint an ocean scene. That way, I don't have to cut the grass and I can pretend I'm in the ocean.

Sounds like a plan. The only problem is that all requires work and you know that that means.........yup, only a dream my friend.:lmao::lmao:

Morning

This morning I noticed that I passed the 4K post marker yesterday, so here we go, I'll make it short and sweet.

Thank you all, hanging with yo guys is the next best thing to breing at the world itself. May your bacon be sizzling, Dole Whips be plentiful, and your Yetis not powered by fans and strobe lights. Cheers!:drinking1:drinking:

Congratulations on the milestone! Not too far behind.

Planning some BBQ chicken skewers wrapped in bacon, tenderloin coins (yes, wrapped in bacon), corn on the cob, homemade slaw and some grilled potatoes for dinner tonight. Come on over there's enough for everyone.

Three days until we leave.... We don't get to WDW until Saturday, so I guess 6 days until we get there, and this time next week we will be in MK.

Doing the packing, getting the tickets together, and arguing about how many pairs of underwear to pack... I need my space..

Have a great trip!:thumbsup2 Good luck packing and please bring at least one change of underwear just in case.:rotfl2::rotfl2:

Still need to pack. Better do it soon because we leave for the pond crossing tomorrow. Arrive at Heathrow at 6 am on Tuesday. Doubt I will be able to sleep much so the Flight Attendant better keep those little bottles coming. I'll try to post a few pics of our trip as we go. Play nice.

Travel safe nemie! It's too much work finding a new one.

Pics would be good.

Good day all things considered. Got to church on time, added another super to the bee hive, weeded in the garden, and pulled the potatoes now that the potato bugs are here again, and had a good soaking rain move through so i don't have to water the beans I planted yesterday, and the boss gave me a raise. :cool1:

Dinner was a "mess" of boiled new potatoes with butter and fried fish. Mess is a local term of indefinite amount that I think means as much as you want and more than is good for you.

You had me at RAISE!:yay::cool1: Congrats and may your beans be green and fruitful.:rotfl2::rotfl2:

Back from the gift auction, Doing the math of all the ones I've been to, it is a quite lucrative venture, I'm a couple thousand ahead, even with some where I didn't win anything:woohoo:

Today it started with a BBQ, a local radio station was there and my son played the game they had and won, his prize was 4 Blueclaw Baseball tickets:thumbsup2

There were 47 baskets all worth from $100 - $1200, I won 1 basket worth $340, It was a sports basket, it contained a table top Foosball, 3pack of sports balls (basketball, football, soccer ball), 4 reserved seat tickets to Blueclaws Baseball game, 4 tickets to NY Red Bulls Major League Soccer Game (selling that one), Red Bulls official ball cap, $50 to Dick's sporting goods and sunflower seeds (got to have something to snack on:lmao:)

I spent $60 and my wife spent $40, so we more then tripled our money:thumbsup2

They had 3 different fishing trips all worth over $600 each, believe me I was hoping to win one for a DisDad fishing trip, but no luck, I'll get it one of these days:confused3

I feel like ticket broker with all the tickets I've won for different places, at least the only big question I'll have this summer is where should we go today:rolleyes1

Got 1 more on Fri, and then no more till Oct, that will give me a chance to use up most of the past winnings:cool2:

Nice job! Got a lot of games to go to. Have fun using up all those tickets.

It's been a long time since I've posted on here, but I just wanted to say "Hi!"

Better now than on the road when you have some place better to be. I hate vehicle problems because I don't have the tools or skills to do anything other than top off fluids and, if I want to spend 2 hours, replace headlight bulbs.

Glad the recital went well. Always good to clear up obligations before a vacation so you don't have to think about it.

You would think it is easy to pack underwear.. But you need to determine if you need the ones with the sequins as well as the purple ones. And then you have to determine the type of fabric you need as well.

So I always need to have choices whenever packing. :)

My wife says I pack too much, and when I choose three pairs of shoes to take, she kind of pulled the plug on my being allowed to pack, and told me what I was getting. <sigh>

No one appreciates my style...

Are you at Disney next week as well? I am staying offsite with the family, but will be at the parks almost everyday Sunday - Friday next week.

Yes, for part of the week. We'll be at MK on Sunday and Wednesday, EP on Monday, and AK in the morning/HS evening on Tuesday.

Morning guys! I hope everyone had a restful weekend.

Hi David.

Sounds like a good price for all that work. The important thing is to get there safely. Wife decided an Odysee was what we needed:mad: so we bought a used one a couple of years ago. Already has over 100K miles, but still running like a top. If you plan to stay in the mini van class, I might say take a look a the Odysee.

Congrats on the successful recital!

I'm in. So how many Dole Whips will you be buying me when the bruins win?:lmao::lmao:

I let them all pack and then quietly sneak in the stuff I want when no on is looking. When we get there I always get the....."Where did that come from, I didn't pack it?". :lmao::lmao:
