Good afternoon gentleman, it has been a very long time since i have stopped by. Work has been a bear but i am now happy to say work will not get in the way. Today was my last day after 13 years at McDonald's I will now be able to work for myself and with my wife. I will have a nice normal M-F schedule with no nights. This is just what the family needs.

I just had to stop to say hello and hopefully i will have time to join the converstion more.

Have an awesome day and prayers going out to all who are in need.

Welcome back, and good luck on the new endeavor!

Hey Mark... Ensign Oblivious in training here :rotfl:

25th.

You know....I didn't even think of it. Every time a book something, they keep asking if we are celebrating anything. My answer is.....ummm, no. Really! I forgot my own birthday was when we were in Disney.:rotfl2::rotfl2:

I'm gonna call them back just to tell them.

Yes, you should!

Hi dads!

It's been a long, long time since I stopped in - I've spent the last couple of hours reading threads and trying to catch up. Prayers and thoughts to those having challenging times!

I'm in Orlando for an extended stay. We arrived last week and will be here for three more weeks. Most of my job is working via the internet or phone. I decided to rent a place (in Rolling Hills) and do my work from FL. It's kind of a mixed blessing - I'm close to all the Disney Magic BUT it certainly makes it harder to actually work! But it has been nice not to see the sun and not the colder weather of PA.

Last time I posted, we were sponsoring a big trip to Disney World for our kids and grandkids (14 total). This time it's just my good wife and I (actually my one daughter and kids are coming for a few days).

I hope my DisDads card isn't revoked but I haven't actually spent much time in the parks so far - one day at Epcot. I'll work on making that change right away!

Here's a pic from two nights ago:

Afternoon guys. Just got caught up on the thread from the past 2 days. I had to give a safety presentation for our department this morning. It's the first time I've done something like this since I was in college and was my first attempt at PowerPoint. Overall it went well and I got good feedback. One of the managers from a different department told my bosses boss that I did a great job, so that was nice to hear.

I enjoyed the b-ball debate. Being from Indiana I amd biased to one side of the argument. I should disclaim, though, that I am a huge Illini fan. I love the game though and am trying to get back into some physical shape so that I can start playing again. I will say that I think KY loses this argument based on the fact that they don't play under the salary cap rules. :rolleyes1

Speaking of gettin in shape, my back is starting to feel a little better. I was able to stand up right away out of bed this morning so that's a good thing. Still a little bit of pain but I have my fingers crossed that this is just a one time injury and not the start of prolonged back issues.

Is that good or bad? You can always mail it to me, which would be good.

Good to hear from you. The office looks cool. I doubt I'll ever have that many to take on a trip to WDW. It sounds fun and a lot of work.

I think everyone has accepted that no only will they way overspend for basketball, but they are Willing to accept other rules violations as well. I'm just waiting for the first Calapari recruiting violation. Glad to hear the back is better.

I admire all those who run their own business. Congrats and good luck.

Very cool. :thumbsup2

It seems pretty packed in and busy, but the purpose of the Disney trips is to go out and have fun, we are not big "relax" on vacation types. We can really only swing Disney every other year, so get as much in as we can. There is a couple of days relaxing at Cocoa Beach before we get to Disney as well. I will have two other weeks off in the summer which will be laid back. :thumbsup2

Good get on BoG. We don't do PH and after DVC, we go all out one day at the theme park and rest the next at the resort and enjoy a nice meal. I like EoS as well, but we usually only go to DTD one night and eat at Fulton's, followed by Ghiradhelli for dessert. We need to plan a second trip for EoS.

Had to move a few things around and now the reservations are coming together. Now have:

May try to do the hoop de doo review, looking for a good fit. Still have a bunch to figure out, but it's going a lot better via phone. Was told Sci-Fi was out of booking window:confused3, but allowed me to book anyway since I was staying at POR.

Congrats on BoG. I can't believe you forgot your own birthday though.

If only we had a place to check when other Dads will be in the World... :rolleyes1

:lmao: :rotfl: :lmao: Where is that?

Since we're on the topic of ADR's, I've got a question I'd like to ask the group. I'd like to kick off the kid's first day at WDW with breakfast at Chef Mickey's. I'm thinking I'd have to make the reservation for 7am to make RD. DW and my mother think I'm nuts to get the kids up that early and to do that much first thing. What do you guys think? Am I doing too much or is it doable? Also, how hard would it be to get to and from Contemporary that time of day?

We have done the early morning ADRs, and they are getting more difficult as I get older. We have done the 7:00 AM ADR at CM when we check in at BLT. They do try to turn tables and will get all the characters to you so you can go to the park. As for getting to CR, check with the lobby of the resort you are staying. They will have a bus that runs to the specific resort so that you can make the ADR without trying to transfer transportation, although the walk from the MK isn't difficult.

Now, as for your question, are you nuts to get up that early. Yes, you are. But, I did it with mine as well so I'm crazy too. Now, we only do 8:00 AM CRT breakfast, Akershus Breakfast, or Tusker House breakfast, and only when we stay at BLT, BWV, or AKV respectively. And, we only do the character resort breakfast on a non park day, and only near where we are staying.

Taco Bell was most excellent today :cool1:

Attention co-workers: Avoid Don's cube this afternoon! :scared1:

Don made a run for the border, and it ran thru him. :faint:

On our last family trip, we did Chef Mickey's for my son's birthday and made it to rope drop. It was a 9 am opening at MK and I think we had a 7:45 ADR. We probably got there a little early. Remember, they want to turn the tables over and get to the next guest as quickly as they can, so they'll help you get in and out quickly. Getting to Contemporary at that time should be a breeze, but we had a car. From there to MK was pretty easy. Just used the monorail and left my car there all day. As for your question, it's doable if your kids can get up that early. It may not be necessary though. If you can find a 7:30 or 7:45 ADR, I'd move it. As long as you're on the monorail by 8:35 or 8:40, you should be able to hit rope drop and see the Welcome Show.

Thanks for the input. I think we'll push back to 7:30. We're also staying off property first so we'd have to drive. Would we be able to park at the MK lot and use the monorail to get back and forth?

We have had hit or miss with the monorail at that time. Sometimes it starts at 7:00 AM, and other times, it doesn't run until 7:30 AM. Sometimes they have buses at the TTC that will take guests to resorts for breakfast, but not sure who to call for that as we just asked the front desk at the resort.

I think (because I have not done) you are allowed to park at the CR to have breakfast at CM. I would guess you would pay parking and then drive up to CR and tell them what you are there for at the guard shack. You are supposed to move your car after you eat. Sometimes they enforce that and sometimes they don't.

:rotfl2::rotfl2: I signed a new partnership agreement this week and the company is sending me some promo stuff I think you'll enjoy. When I get it, I'll PM you for your address and send it over. I think you'll enjoy it.

So help me, if you're encouraging any penguin obsession, things are going to get ugly.

Anybody up for some onion rings?

How is work going? Let's get something on the schedule for lunch. I'll also check and see what game tickets I can get. Maybe we'll go to a game instead. Give me a day or two to talk to my guy.

No comment on the penguin thingy.:scared:
