Thanks for the tips on the Keys.:thumbsup2 Still trying to decide where we will be headed next week. Nothing like waiting until the last minute.:headache:

Make sure you don't leave the shelter with an added passenger.:scratchin I have to drag my DD out of the mall pet stores as soon as she see's the little critters.

No problem. If you decide to come down here, let me know and if I am back from NJ, I'll stop by. There will be no dogs following me home. Still trying to get rid of the mutt that I did not want.

I'm getting bombarded on all fronts to get a dog. Very soon the kids will be old enough to help with the food, water, and land mines. Then I will consider giving in.

Let me know if you decide on one. Would be worth a trip to drop the mutt off.

Bad news Tuesday ownage.

When the timing belt broke and busted the water pump, the engine over heated and blew the head gasket. That is another $1300 on top of the $450 for the water pump. I told him I'd think about it. I'm not worried about an upsale, as this is not his usual business practice, but the car is only worth about $2700. Do I fix it and hope to get another 5 years our of it? Or, try to sell it as is?

That sucks Norm. Good luck with the decision.

Luckily found the winter jacket I had in NY. Highs in NJ range from the 30's to 40's lows as bad as 20 degrees. Why am I going up there again? No snow in the forecast at least.

I always laugh when we are in the world in January and we are in the pool and the guards are wearing a hat and mitts. :rotfl:

My friend from the UK came down last weekend and spent a lot of time in the pool. It is a state law in Florida that no Floridian goes into a pool from November to March. I sat at the pool bar with a jacket on.

I just about died twice (hyperbole in play) skiing in the mountains on a 40 degree day.

Sorry for the delay. I will check to ensure I still have the images on my computer at home this evening.

Woo Hoo!

No worries John - I actually forgot I was getting a day off this week....so being off today, I was able to work on some designs that Adam allowed me access to.

So I was already able to put something together. But I appreciate your help!

p.s. I posted my design over at the Pub. :thumbsup2

I guess that's why only the Canucks are in the pools! ;)

Wednesday, I didn't get to shoot it, ownage.

That sucks Norm. Good luck with the decision.

Being the pump and belt are already fixed you might be able to sell it to a kid in high school. Probably get more that scrap price for it. Some of them (i know there are getting to be fewer and fewer of them) like to work on cars and this may be a good project for them.

$1300 would be better spent on vacations and such.:rolleyes1

Agree with the time to sell it! When I bought our last van we had a similar situation. Even if you fix it now, I think there is a pretty good chance you'll need to put more into before that 5 year point. An easier decision since it is a third car.

That stinks Norm. Keeping it depends on what condition the car is in and how much trouble you can 'see' down the road.

The rules changed substantially. Now, you can only deduct what the vehicle ultimately sells for. So if the vehicle's only good for scrap, you only get to deduct the scrap value. And it takes longer to get an amount certain for the deduction (you have to wait until the sale/auction or decision to scrap it and sale).

Tough call. If you donate it, maybe a charity has someone who can fix it cheap and then someone in need could use it.

Thanks everyone for the input. I sold it for $500. In the end, I figured it was better to save up the money for a vehicle I really wanted. Plus, we still have two cars to make it through. My only regret was that I didn't get to shoot it. :lmao:

That and not too bright Yankees.
Hey Johnny Reb, you come up here in the dead of winter. When you get home even 60 will seem warm.

Look on the bright side; The cold will make you appreciate Fla that much more! ;)

My next door neighbor has been spending a lot of time in his pool this summer too...

Now, he's been playing hockey on it, but still, he's been in there. :rotfl2:

I NEVER get a Wednesday off - this is a very rare thing. Usually it's Saturday or Friday and it's different each week. And when it is one of those days - I always have my youngest DD at home with me, so none of my image editing would be possible if she were around!

:thumbsup2
