DIS Dads DDC XXV: It’s a Special Holiday Episode of the DISDad’s Club

In the mail today was a special offer from the Florida Marlins. They gave me the option of buying season tickets THREE WEEKS BEFORE THEY GO ON SALE TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC. Think I should take them up on it? Wonder how many people will?

Wait - before what goes on ale to the general public? Season tickets or the team itself?

Dude, that's a steal. Jump all over it before you get shuffled to the bottom of a season ticket list like Barry is for the packers. Who knows, they might win something with a dollar store payroll again one of these years before they clean house again.

I may be about 70 years away from packers season tickets, but I'm a lot closer than some people.

Evening....

Had my specialist appointment, it's going to lead to more. Basicly a "fungus" was found, that can lead to more serious complications...eventually...maybe. It's rare to find in a healthy body, usually those with weak immune systems, transplant patients etc, not in (relatively) healthy folks. So now a whole bunch more tests etc are ordered, they took what fely like 1/2 my blood out, and a CAT scan comming, to make sure there are no hidden issues. Getting a wee bit tired of itall, I admit. C'est la vie.

Ok dads need alittle advice, DD aka Hailee will be 5 tomm she has a big birthday party Saturday , I assume I should atleast give her one present tomm right? And save the rest for the party? We are seeing monsters inc 3d after work and then getting ice cream, this is her first big party so not sure how the present thing should go

We give presents on the day of the party. On their actual birthday, we go out for a family dinner - birthday child's choice.

Hi all! Quick check in here. Next week at this time we're on a plane to our happy place Looking forward to meeting up with the dads at the "convention". I had to quote that word because DW turned to me last night and asked "Why are you guys calling it a 'convention'?" (imagine her fingers with the air quotes up as she says it) "It's just a bunch of you guys getting together to ride rides and eat food and drink beer and stuff. It's more like an expensive play-date for you men!" Well... we have to call it SOMETHING!

Secondly, how did all of you that are attending, convince your wives and children that it was okay for you to go to WDW without them?
I'm trying to scam my wife into thinking I have to got to WDW for an IT seminar and then hang out with all of the DIS Dads. Just not sure how to explain the expenses...although my AP is still good until March! Hmmm....

Not everyone is going solo.. there are plenty of Dads bringing their families.

It's just my DW & I going. We are leaving DD(6) and DS (17m) home with the grandmothers.

Is there a formal itnerary? How does one identify a DIS Dad...and aren't you concerned about DIS Dad imposters?

And trying to remember from Dante's Inferno...isn't there a specific level in Hell for parents that go to WDW without their kids?

We just told our DD tonight. I was sure we are going to see the tears and hear the whhhhhhhhhyyyyyyyyyyyyys but we didn't get either. She was like 'ok. I get to have a sleepover all weekend with grandma?'

In the next few weeks I have to put in for my 4 weeks vacation, Now this is a give and take situation, I give them my weeks in Jan, and by the time I take my 1st vacation I take crap before and after, it seems no matter what week I pick by the time it arrives it's not a good week, this year I'm putting in for 2 weeks back to back, since I started in 86 I only did this once when I got married, of course it was a problem, other's do it all the time, but of course it is also alright for some to have off during Christmas/New Years week And that is one week I'd love to get I'd be at WDW so fast it wouldn't be funny
