DIS Dads DDC XXIX: We’re Over 750 Dads, With A Disney Problem!

Morning...

So in the end, here is what happened yesterday. The VP comes in, likely on a tip from a head office person who shops in the store (there are a few).He and another dept head looked around and I got questioned on the fact our displays were looking thin etc. He thanked me and said he'd be in touch with our district manager to get us some help.

A couple of hours later, the acting DM (the manager of our rival store) comes by bringing a few of her staff ith her to chip in. She took me around to set up a game plan etc and got things rolling.

Keep in mind a co worker and I before that got things going good, had just about caught up to the back stock issue.

I also had issues with a Bell tech wanting to shut down our debit/credit lines, and one thing after another like that. Barely got lunch in, had to keep running out to handle things.

The one thing that worries me will be my boss's reaction, she is a controlling micromanager who holds grudges and can be vindictive. I don't want this comming back on me, I really was just the guy in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Nice to see how the higher ups act, when they cut your budgets, then react when things can't be done. It's the summer! It's going to be busy! Stop going with skeleton crews!

GOODNEWS though, my Photopass+ voucher/disks arrived. Only four more things before we head out Thursday : Packing (tomorrow), Picking up the Tripticks (Monday), Oil Change (Monday) and picking up the US cash. Also want to call reservations and see if I can request a fridge for DW's diabetes and a building request (they ignored it last time, but will keep trying, right?)

Movies get expensive, so we've held off this year. We'll buy the DVDs, so just gotta wait.

Well...what can ya do? I think what gets to me is that this isnt the first tine I've been caught in this situation. hell, once I was in the other situation, going in to fix up another store.Today I feel very tired coming in, but I doubt I'll have any issues, even running the night shift. I think I'm almost in vacation mode already. I only hopes management learns a lesson. We are one of the top two stores in the district, we should have adequate staffing.

Tonight was quiet and relatively uneventful, save a cashier comming up $50 short. I systematicly checked everything, double counted, and found the $50 bill under the cash drawer, it must have slipped in somehow from the tray. It happens time to time.

I won;t see the boss till 1 on Monday, when I get in, so at least I won;t be springing it on her. Assistant manager figures he'll handle it for the most part, he knew this would happen eventually. I forsee everyone getting lectured on getting things done, which, given even today they skimped on hours, will raise resentment further. Some staff speculate this moght bring staff changes, or maybe more hours, but we'll see. Any changes I won't see anyways.

Like I said, to play it safe I'm leaving the country.

Rob, Great job by you and your wife on getting you son to a place (physically, mentally, and spiritually) where you are all Happy with.

A little something about being a Empty Nester, Rob, CJ and the rest of you.

Your child(ren) has/have moved out. In a few short years they have come of age. They will come home and say something like, "Hey Pop, how you doing? Do you want a beer? Do you mind if I get one?" And that supply of beer you HAD is now gone, and don't expect your child(ren) to fill it back up. So stock up! You've been warned!

(Yes Rob, I know that Max doesn't like the taste of beer, I didn't ether when I was his age. I learned Better and I'm sure he will too!)

I'll be happy if all they do is drink the beer when they return. Nowadays most of them return to the prior living arrangements.

Good to hear on the audit. I'm glad they missed all those under the table cash payments to me.

Those payments were made to Stitch and they didn't believe me so good to go.

We just got back from Planes. The kids loved it. The adults were luke warm warm to it. Visually very good, some decent jokes and a slowly predictable story.

Didn't get there this weekend. Good to know the kids liked it. Maybe I can send them and get some errands done while they are at the movies.

MM1971 - Sorry about all the Blackhawks pics - but as we have discussed the cup final was one of the best.

No worries, I'd be doing it if the Bruins won. Like we talked about during the finals, both teams had much respect by the opposition and no hard feelings. The best team won this year. Look out next season though. We have Iginla now.

Thanks for the review. I'll probably wait to see it at home. I usually only do the movie theatres for the action movies (Avengers, Superman). We did see the Rapunzel and Tiana movies when they came to the theatres for the dds.

It was $50 for tickets, pop, and popcorn for the four of us. If you don't have kids who loved Cars I'd wait for Netflix.
