Happy "one extra hour of sleep unless your have a five year old daughter" day

Plus, it is the weekend. On a Sat or Sunday, mine are awake super early. On a school day, can't get them to move out of the bed.

Evening gentleman, at work with a completely new computer system, no issues yet. Well except for the annoying support specialist treating us like children. Working hard, looking thru posts.

Saturday night work stinks.

Yesterday showed why college football beats the NFL hands down. A lot of great games and finishes. If you are a fan, it was a lot of fun.

That's right. UL football is undefeated, ranked 10th, and won't get a playoff for national championship. Oh wait, that is why the NFL is so much better.

Ron has arrived at WDW and checked into room it looks like.

Good morning guys...

Today we are having Amelia's Birthday Party (A couple weeks early, only day that's free) She decided on a movie party, so we get to see Frankenweenie this afternoon. (this theater didn't have Wreck-it Ralph available)

Mine were up early too....bleh.

The age old college football playoff issue... Not having a good D-1 team up here (BC stinks, we all know this), it's never been a hot-button issue with me. Given my druthers, I'd rather see one though. Can't understand why it's the only sport without one...:confused3

Ahhh to be a DisDad!! That's pretty much every weekend except this one, I woke up earlier and DD slept in

I know I can ask this in DVC threads but I wanted to get DisDads thoughts ( smarter then the average bear) I put in a request for more info on a OKW resale for 60 point and it comes with 27 banked, for right now these points are perfect for me and DD. wanted to get thoughts on resale, restrictions and pros and cons and what's the difference in buying say 60 pts at OKW and 60 at BLT, I guess I'm thinking points are points, thank you all for any help

Charlie and UL are having a great year and should be ranked higher. In two years we get a playoff and under that system they could/should be included. Don't want it to get any bigger than four teams because the regular season would get diluted. Can't wait for the NFL playoffs to get started so I can see two 8-8 teams play in the Wild Card game.

Two things come to mind for me - money and control.

I am new to DVC but I think there are 3 main differences between BLT points and OKW points. The annual maintenance fee on a per point basis was 5.20 for OKW and 4.22 for BLT. In this case BLT would cost you about $60 a year less than OKW. OKW points if they weren't extended expire in 2042 vs 2060 for BLT. Lastly when you buy points at a specific resort you get to book that resort at 11 months out vs 7 months out for all others. BLT is a harder resort to get reservations in so it can be better to buy points there if you plan on staying there.

We wound up buying points at BLT and SSR. SSR had the advantage of being relatively inexpensive on a ppt basis, having low annual fees and a 2054 expiration.

DVC Question

Hey guys, we are running through some options for a trip next July. Could anyone tell me if buying points would be good idea and what the possible cost would be? I know it is different by resort but I just trying to get an idea. we are looking at July 9th to 16th right now with a split stay as being the most popular choice right now.

Thanks for the info, I've decided to buy 100 BLT resale, just have to find the right one

Well, take your nemesis to a NFL game was a success. The Colts won :littleangel: I'll let Norm post the pics :thumbsup2

I'd love to sign up! Glad I found this place, my wife, DD8 and DD10 are leaving for our FIRST ever trip to the world in December!! My job allows me to spend a lot of time reading and planning every detail of this trip. I'm guilty of reading this site while in my tree stand deer hunting! The whole family is in full Disney mode. Our kids think we are going in February and driving a motor home to Florida, they have NO idea we leave December 16th and staying until Christmas Eve. I would be proud to be a part of DIS Dads.

Good call. To Ryan's point, I think the biggest thing in BLT's favor would be the extra years on the contract. :thumbsup2 We own at BLT and love it.

I'm assuming you mean renting the points for the week, rather than buying into DVC? If so, you're looking at 220-270 points for the week (assuming a 1 br), depending on resort and view. I think the average rate from a legit source is about $13/point, so you're looking at $2,900- $3500. That's decent compared to what you'd pay Disney for the same room.

I love our DVC membership, but we have 3 kids (13, 11, 10) who were getting big for one room. Membership is a big commitment, but if you're going every 1-2 years, and you are crowded in one room, it works out after about 7 trips (at least it did for us). Your deed is for 50 years, and is transferrable on your death to your heirs.

Not sure which properties are still selling now, but lots of resorts are available on resale. You buy at a particular resort, but you can use your points at any resort (the only advantage is that you can book your home resort 11 months ahead, the other resorts 7 months ahead).

The costs of the points keep going up. If you'd like to try one out, you can "rent" points (purchase one vacations worth of points) from one person. Might be the way to go. I also found the DVC threads here and the DVC presentation at WDW very helpful. But beware of flaming and trolls on line. The Dis Dad's threads are pretty much the only place on the web where you can have a civil conversation about DVC
