Excellent! I wish them well.
Let me know if they head up to Indy. I’ll be on the field with our kids as one of the volunteers and likely won’t see them, but DW will be up in the stands. She may be able to get some decent pictures.

Thanks, I heard they took 3rd. Best performance for the year my brother said, but a letdown because they had the Governor's Cup last year. The band is going, but my brother can't get off to help with the pit crew. My nephew will be either playing trombone or drum major for the Lancaster, NY Marching Redskins.

Hi Guys!

Thank you for the congratulations, I passed them on to the New Parents. :cutie:

For those of you who are sick or injured, prayers!

Happy Birthday/Anniversary!

Congratulations to all the Coaches and Their Teams!

Work is closed today, we're getting lots of rain, but little wind. The wind is suppose to get stronger later today. Power is still on and Jodi is working from home, we're stocked up, so should be a good day. :lmao:

Stay safe Randall :thumbsup2

And I’d expect no less.
Alright Andy, you can start ignoring me...

Now.

My turn to do the proud poppa thing. Similar to Norm’s weekend silver medal story…
my son brought home some silver competitive hardware this weekend.

SC held its State Band Championships Saturday. This year our school got been moved up into a tougher class with some of the larger schools in the state, but still performed very well and pulled off a second place finish against some perennial favorites.

The red one on the end there is the result of a whole lot of very hard work. The past three years they had won the championship in the 3A class (thus the other three blue ribbons in the pic), but this time around in class 4A another school got by us. Max was still tickled about it though…

A matching set would have been nice to be sure, but to be that consistently good at something throughout you high school career is nothing to be sneezed at.

Here’s a nice shot of the brass section warming up before the performance.

The really nice thing though is that we’re not done yet. We have another regional competition this week end and then we’ll be taking this show onto the national stage (and invading my nemesis’s homeland) in Indianapolis the week after that.

nafo04.jpg

We’ll see how well we can do against about 100 of the best schools in the nation.
It will certainly be an adventure.

Congrats to you and your son Rob :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Good morning all. Looks like the fort was well minded over the weekend and plenty of chatter.

Here's wishing comfort to all who are sick or injured! Also hoping all in line for the Frankenstorm fair well, stay dry, and stay safe!

I was watching the Weather Channel last night and they were saying that it could affect us in Indiana. I know I can't get any barges across the lake this week because they are calling for 35 foot waves on Lake Michigan. Does anyone else think that Jim Cantore loses a bit of credibility when every time a new storm system comes through he says it's the worst he's ever seen? :lmao:

Will there be any reports like this? I think you can guess what the next picture might be; similar to this storm, there is a full moon involved.

Anyone hear from Ron??? I have sent messages but got no response yet. From what I can remember he will be one of the first dads to feel the wrath of Sandy. He is in direct projected path. The pic was from this am and the storm is still a ways away. Wind/rain is starting to kick up here but not expected to see the bad **** till later this evening/early am. Already getting reports of power outages. Stay safe guys

Guess I'll head over to The Pub to see that one! :lmao:

Still just some wind and rain here in northern MA. They say it is supposed to get worse this afternoon, but they have been saying that for two days. We'll see. Any reports from our dads that are closer to the center?

Just rain in the eastern KY at lower elevations. Higher elevations along the VA border are starting to see some light snow.

Anybody heard from Caption Obvious?

Not in a couple of hours. Mrs. Oblivious was baking

No, hope he's okay!

Still power up in CT. Have the night shift tonight and headed into work soon

Just got word in from Ron he is doing ok.The worst part is still to come, but so far so good.

Hi

Here is what we have done in case of power outage.

We filled jugs of water and put them in the freezer, this is for two reasons, one to keep the fridge and freezer cold and, two, to give us cold drinking water as it melts.

Keeping the cell phones plugged into their chargers so they are fully charged. And remember you can charge them in the car with the car charger.

We are all electric, so when it goes out we have no water. We have a few buckets full and have filled the tub and sinks with water.

Stay safe Dads! :thumbsup2

I posted on the bragging wall. Thought I would mention it here. My DS started 7th grade this year at the middle school and took accelerated classes for each subject. His grades for the first trimester.....A+...A+...A...A...A-...A+. He really did an awesome job adjusting to the new school and worked hard onhis studies. really proud of him.

Said the the Wife: Sounds like we should reward him. How about a trip to DW.
Wife: No, we agreed 2014 is when we would go next.
Me: But he did so well that I am sure he needs a relaxing vacation.
Wife: We don't relax in Disney.
Me: We can this time, I promise.
Wife: Can we bring my mom and dad? (MIL/FIL)
Me: OK, 2014 it is.

Congrats to your son and you to your excellent compromise. :)

Congratulations to Max on the latest accomplishment, and good luck next week and then at Indy! :thumbsup2

Congrats to you and your son Rob :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Thanks guys, I’ll pass that on to the kids that did all the work.

There was some disappointment in our ranks as well. With three straight wins, second seemed somewhat lacking. I’ve had to give a couple of folks a bit more perspective on it. The truth is that there are 30 other schools in our class alone that didn’t get that far, and a couple hundred in all the classes that didn’t either. We have much to be proud of. In only six years of existence, our school has three firsts and three seconds; never any lower (as of yet). That’s a record to be very proud of.

I’ll be watching for the band out of Lancaster NY when we’re up at Indy.
I’m sure they’ll do the folks back home proud.

I’d have been more surprised if that weren’t the case. :lmao:

Good to hear… may it stay that way.
Good luck up there and prayers are still on their way.
