Morning Gents!

I hope you are all staying safe in the wake of this storm that you are suppose to get. Up here we are just getting some rain and a little wind but not the surges or high, sustained winds that some of you are suppose to get.

Tough way to end it. Congrats on a great season.

Not a lot you can do when you get in to PKs. To make it worse we controlled the game and hit 2 or 3 posts again. Oh well, it was a fun afternoon and a pretty food season overall.

Too many Canadians around here...

When you're that good you don't need billion dollar ships.

Morning all...

First off, prayers for the folks throughout the Chesapeake and Delaware River areas.
Y'all stay safe and check in with us when you can.

We were mightily busy this weekend and spent most of yesterday just trying to recover and catch up on some sleep. I'll go back a try to catch up a bit and tell ya' a bit more about that a little later (feel free to ignore it when I do).

Morning guys.

Prayers to all getting hit with Sandy... We're suppose to get the worst of it later today, but mostly winds, so looks like we'll escape the flooding. Just hoping the power outages are minimal! Stay safe guys.

Morning guys....

Sitting in a doctors office for my one year follow up visit. Dermatologist.

Been raining here since Saturday night, non-stop.

The wind is also not letting up and we are supposed to get big waves on the lake.

Gotta go.

Evening gents. Had a busy couple of days. The twins turned 4 today. Yesterday was the big day were we ran around doing what the kids wanted to do. DD got an ear infection at dinner last night so today has been pretty quiet. Fortunately their party isn't until next weekend.

A happy birthday times two.
Hopefully the ear problems clear up quickly.

Thanks guys. I'm just wiped. Think it's a good flu. Got our orange belts today. So it's pretty goodish. Thanks for the prayers.

Sorry to hear this… hope you get over it soon.
Congrats on the orange belts though.
At least it’s not all bad news

How has everyone been this weekend? Sick as a dog here and been in bed most all day....Hopefully tomorrow will be better. It is our 12th anniversary tomorrow. I am a lucky guy to have found her....

More illness? Y’all need to stop this foolishness.
Get better fast Steve and a Happy Anniversary to you sir.

Chicken soup for all!!!

Ok well I have some not so good news...

On Thursday of last week I got rear ended on I4 near US 17-92. It was bad to where I have been in the hospital since that day. After several x-rays and tests, I find that my L1-L6 on pinched and may have to under go quite long rehab and perhaps surgery. I am home now and bound to bed and light movement.

My word… I’m very sorry to hear about this. Prayers that the injuries heal well and quickly. Back problems can be a persistent issue.

Well, it looks like the storm will probably cause our trip to Pensacola to be cancelled. Now, we have to hope that a tree doesn't come down on our house and that our electricity isn't out for too long. Bummer. :sad2:

More bad news. Sorry Mike. Y’all stay safe in the path of that storm.

The kid went to Target this afternoon. No flashlights or batteries but they did buy glow sticks. I can imagine a party in the dorm for the next couple of days.

I suspect it will be epic.

On the way out the door to church this evening and I noticed that I had lost my wallett someplace. Searched hi and low with no luck. The only place I had been was Outback this afternoon for am anniversary lunch. I called up there and nothing had been turned in. So, dropped the kids off at AWANA and back home and started making phone calls to cancel and reissue new cards....Uuugh! I hope whoever found my wallett needed the money at least. I had 150 in cash in it...:furious: While we were at dinner Lauren was determined to have the crew sing to us...so blurted it out to the waitress it was our anniversary and that she wanted some cake :rotfl: I told her to be still...but when we were gathering up to leave the girl came with a big bowl of ice cream for us and they sang Happy Birthday since they dont have an anniversary song :rotfl2: Lauren didnt care...she got her ice cream ::yes::

Getting over being sick and now you loose a wallet? That’s just unfair.
Hopefully it will turn up after you get the new cards and IDs. That would be frustrating, but you’d know that no one was trying to use the old stuff to defraud you.

At least the dinner surprise was good…

For Lauren that is.

Back from soccer. Unfortunately, we lost in championship game 0-1. But, the other team committed four fouls to our 0. I hate to lose, but losing when it is clear the opposing coach is teaching kids to charge and push, it just stinks. We had several good shots on goal, and we had two breakaway attempts thwarted by fouls. No cautions were issued. No sour grapes - just wantd to be able to say cheaters never win, but probably better they learn the real life lesson now.

The silver medal. Getting to place the medal on my youngest dd, in front of her teammates and families, and saying I was proud of her was my tournament trophy.

Finally some good news.
Not that the other team probably didn’t deserve the win, but that you girls did so well to finish with the high ranking second place finish.

That’s a whole lot to be very proud of.

Stay safe on the East Coast... I'm guessing we probably have some dad's facing power outages. I know a few of them are off work today and it seems pretty quiet from that neck of the woods this morning.

Here is some off topic images, sorry no not looking for sympathy but to just, I guess, explain where I have been.
Wow, that looks like it was a heck of an impact. Could have been a lot worse. Take care of yourself. Make sure you're a good therapy patient, you don't want to mess around with a back injury. :thumbsup2

And this is different from any other time???? :confused3

Sorry about the wallet. I'd say I hope it turns up, but now that you've taken the steps to cancel the cards, I'm sure you'll find it in some obvious place. Seems to work that way most of the time. :rolleyes1

On a more positive note, Happy Anniversary, and that story about Lauren at the restaurant is priceless. :rotfl2::rotfl::lmao:

(feel free to ignore it when I do).
:thumbsup2

And I’d expect no less.
Alright Andy, you can start ignoring me...

Now.

My turn to do the proud poppa thing. Similar to Norm’s weekend silver medal story…
my son brought home some silver competitive hardware this weekend.

SC held its State Band Championships Saturday. This year our school got been moved up into a tougher class with some of the larger schools in the state, but still performed very well and pulled off a second place finish against some perennial favorites.

nafo01.jpg

The red one on the end there is the result of a whole lot of very hard work. The past three years they had won the championship in the 3A class (thus the other three blue ribbons in the pic), but this time around in class 4A another school got by us. Max was still tickled about it though…

nafo03.jpg

A matching set would have been nice to be sure, but to be that consistently good at something throughout you high school career is nothing to be sneezed at.

Here’s a nice shot of the brass section warming up before the performance.

nafo02.jpg

The really nice thing though is that we’re not done yet. We have another regional competition this week end and then we’ll be taking this show onto the national stage (and invading my nemesis’s homeland) in Indianapolis the week after that.

nafo04.jpg

We’ll see how well we can do against about 100 of the best schools in the nation.
It will certainly be an adventure.

Congratulations to your son and the rest of band! :cool1:

I have to delay wishing them success in Indianapolis until I hear from my nephew on how his band did in the Carrier Dome yesterday. They may be Indianapolis bound as well.

Well done to the team! and I suppose the coach had a little to do with it as well so....

Good luck to the dads in the Northeast. Hopefully you can escape like I did. Starting Saturday afternoon it was supposed to get nasty. We're still waiting. It's breezy with a drizzle. Schools were cancelled but they definitely could have gone. They keep saying "In a couple hours it'll be really bad" but it's turning in to a big non-event like Y2K. It's not over yet, but so far so good.

Thanks. We had 8 players. Our KYSA rules say that you can't have more on a team that twice number of players on field. So, as we did 6v6, we could have had rosters of 11. I did the team coordination, and I like keeping teams to 8 as it maximizes playing time. The rules also say that each player must be given half the amount allotted playing time. The other challenge is that with more teams, we have to find more coaches. With a small roster, I am able give play them more that that. There are some sleepovers and illnesses when we are down to 6 players, but I'd still prefer to deal with no subs as opposed to 5 sitting on the bench for half the game.

We have the same problem sometimes with finding good coaches. most of the players here play club as well as town so having 8 is not possible with illness and conflicts. I have 12 on my roster and I think we have played with 10 most of the time. I agree the smaller rosters make it easy. Indoor season starts in couple of weeks. Looks like we have 11 for that which lets us have 2 full lines and goalie if everyone shows. Do you play a winter season? Here in the northeast, we move inside for the winters (hard to play in 25 degrees and snow).

Congratulations to your son and the rest of band! :cool1:

Excellent! I wish them well.
Let me know if they head up to Indy. I’ll be on the field with our kids as one of the volunteers and likely won’t see them, but DW will be up in the stands. She may be able to get some decent pictures.

Congratulations to Max on the latest accomplishment, and good luck next week and then at Indy! :thumbsup2

Stay safe guys.

Morning guys...hope everyone is staying safe and dry...

Good luck to those south of us in Delaware, NY, NJ and along Sandy's path. It looks like flooding could be a big issue as well as the wind and rain. Stay safe. It looks like we got lucky up here this time.
