They have people at each corral checking each person that comes in. However, it's at 4:30 in the morning and dark. People also climb over the mesh wall "barriers" to go to and from the port-a-potties. So it's possible you could sneak in... depending on how sneaky you are!

I think you should be able to handle that, Tim. Seems like a good way to get off to an early lead.

Well my aviation school is out of Orlando/Sanford Airport which is north of Orlando Intl. Once I have my CPL and either get signed with someone or rent and aircraft I can fly air-taxi lol. I can tell you this the type of aircraft I'll be certified to fly Ill probably be flying G550 and 650s here at either Sanford or maybe Orlando Charter. But to charter them to fly say to Tennessee and Virginia were in the ball park of 8,500 both roundtrip for one place. Not sure if what size the craft was.

I ran a 10:31 mile... For 5miles 52:35

Not totally serious. It is definitely elbow to elbow for the first half mile or mile. Eventually it opens up to the point where you don't have to worry about cliiping someone's heel. But there are always slower people in front of you that you have to dodge. In the end you wind up running more than 13.1 miles because of all the zig-zagging. It's probably better the further up you are.

At your pace, you'd finish the half at 2 hrs 18 minutes. I'd be very happy with that time. As for the corrals, I think we'll all have to get our bib number / corral assignments and try to figure it out from there whether or not any of us can run together. Maybe you could run 6.2 miles on your own and time yourself. Then when you pick up your packet, you can honestly say you ran a 10K in XX minutes. Maybe they'll let you move up to the appropriate corral.

On Wednesday he had tryouts for travel basketball and had his ankle stepped on and made it worse. It doesn't look like the ankle was twisted, but his achilles is worse. We tried ice and rest the last couple of days, but still really sore. Any advice on the best way to treat it would be appreciated. He has 4 games this weekend and it looks like a no go unless it gets better FAST. The goal is to have him ready by Tuesday for the second half of try outs.

Not a runner, but I tore my achilles playing basketball a few years ago. My first advice would be to see a Dr./Trainer to diagnose exactly how bad it is. This is not an injury you want to risk making any worse than it already is.

I'd say if he has an achilles injury, he's likely not going to be playing any ball not only for this week, but maybe longer. It tends to be slow to heal partly because it is hard to rest since you're always moving it and putting pressure on it as you walk. It is something you want to make sure heals fully before he pushes it, because you definitely don't want to end up tearing it.

We had a player on our local HS basketball team last year that just sprained his and he was in a walking boot and unable to play ball for about a month. A torn achilles is going to be a minimum 6 month recovery, so definitely don't push it if there's any discomfort at all.

Now, with the disclaimer out of the way, I wear a gel heel cup in the shoe of my good achilles now when I play basketball and one of these on my injured achilles. Aside from that, ice and rest are about the only thing you can do.

Ouch. An Achilles injury isn't something I'd mess with, I'd get that checked out by someone in the know.

I've run through a lot of achilles pain, usually relying on icy hot and biofreeze. With hoops you're doing a lot more jumping and cutting though, so that makes it tougher.

Hope it turns out to be something minor.

I'm hoping for a 2:30 time- I would be really happy with that for my first 1/2. I'll just tag along with Barry in his corral. I think he submitted an official time from his 10k.

First no one here is a doctor.. well, actually there are a few, but they aren't there examining your son. I would have him see a trainer.

I hurt both my achilles in May. I saw a specialist and was on a daily stretching routine. I had to stand on the stairs with the ball of my foot on the stair. I had to lower my heal down to the lower step, stretch, then raise up and stand on my toes. One foot at a time 5 times for 3 sets to start. Then I upped the number of times per set.

Achilles injurys are a pain in the Beverly!

I haven't submitted it yet. I ran a 10K in 1:05:21 (10:30 min/mile). You have until Nov 1 to submit a time and I'm running a 15K race on Oct 27. I'm hoping to improve my time, but I'll submit the better of the two.

Friday afternoon and just three of us left here. Too cold and damp to work out in the field or the shop so it looks like I am stuck inside with paperwork and and . Tomorrow is looking better and my last chance to work the bees before I ignore them for the winter.
