DIS Dads DDC XXI - Passing Time Until Our Next Trip

DW and I had our 19th anniversary yesterday and celebrated by going out for dinner and a movie. Ended up seeing.... Brave! Cute movie. That's some red hair! DD also got roses and a new watch (she's been looking for a new watch for quite a while). In all a good evening to reflect on the years we've been together.

Found out that DD had an emotional "break-down" yesterday, too. Apparently she is starting to get those funny feelings for boys and doesn't know how to handle them I am so glad I was not around for that scene. Have a feeling it's going to be an interesting school year.

We saw her for the first time this trip!

DD was picked and asked her to make a pink dolphin. She doesn't give the candy to the kids anymore. She says they are donated to a children's hospital. From what I heard though, they taste worse than beverly, so that seems cruel to give them to sick kids.

From this point on in the trip, we couldn't go more than an hour or so without one of us (DS excluded) doing an impersonation of the candy lady and saying... "Show you how to make... candy." Toward the end we were replacing candy with whatever it was we were doing at the time. That woman's voice was an earworm.

Made it across your damn bridge. Some DOT guys were working on one of the cable things that hold the whole bridge up. Really boosted my confidence enormously. Luckily it wasn't windy. For those that don't know, I hate bridges. Had to cross many of the damn things on this trip but the worst was in Jax when it was pouring rain.

Made it to W. Orange, NJ. We are staying at a Best Western with is not a bad place. It is a short drive to Seton Hall. A little later we are going to explore the campus. The Pirate Princess Pirate moves into her dorm at 8:45 tomorrow am.

Talked to the woman that does handiwork for me and she is going to hurricane proof the house. The house is block/cement and shutters for the windows so it isn't going anywhere. The main thing I need to worry about are the huge trees on the lot. Just hoping if it makes landfall, a big limb doesn't fall on the roof. Hopefully it isn't too bad.

Brian, sorry they canceled the show and you got soaked.

No and No, I hate the new divisions and think it is just another reason to put down the schools that don't go to major bowls every year. It splitting up the big football programs so they have a better chance of making the major bowls. The the bowls are a whole nother subject they are no longer about football only the $$ it earns them.

Yeah... I'm not a big fan of the newly aligned Big Ten. It's all about the cash, but that said, I am glad that it is a 12 team conference and I do like the championship game. I just really think it should have been North/South or something like that. If you really look at it, it isn't that much of a stretch other than Wisconsin would be "south" even though they're geographically north of most schools. I seriously never can remember who is a Legend or a Leader.

Wednesday 5 hour car ride from non 3G land ownage.

I am too, now. Kind of. I hope Peyton goes above and beyond all expectations.

Fort Wilderness is a hidden gem.

We've thought about doing DVC there for low points. Problem is we don't own camping equipment for 4. I have a 2 person tent and air mattress, but am too old and fat to be sleeping on th ground anymore.

We've been having computer issues here at work since Friday and it has cut into my slack off time significantly. Between that and focusing on the big Fantasy Football draft, the Disboards have taken a back seat.

saw a Dateline report over the weekend where they caught repairmen trying to pull one over on a customer. 4 different companies and they all tried to get her to pay for things she didn't need. Makes me afraid to call any repairman... for anything!)

Also have to figure out how long it'll take to get to MK from AoA on the bus system, some people on the boards ( non disdads) have said its about an hr each way, anyone know if that sounds right?

Depends. If you trying to get there at park opens, there is a long line. Also, it is just not the time on the bus, which is relatively short. But, walking from resort room to bus stop, waiting for the bus to get there, getting on the bus, waiting for the other passengers to load, exiting the bus, walking from bus stop to park, and going thru security entrance. An hour seems a bit excessive, but when you waiting to get into MK, a minute is an eternity. But, are you a person who likes to be ther early or walk up at the last minute?

Long day... Didn't get any sleep after working all night. Was out of work late and DW did not have to go to work till 9. Mowed my lawn, picked yup DS and headed to DM for lunch and then mowed her yard. Now sitting watching DS run around like a maniac. Talking to DM about life and Disney.
