On the way home DS and I walked a corn field and pulled a few ears. The one on the left is close to what an average ear looks like on a good year. It took some searching to find one that big. The rest are pretty small and there are a lot of plants out there without an ear. The one on the right is so small that it probably can't even be harvested. It will probably fall through the corn head. I can usually get a good yield estimate at this stage, but this year I have no idea... I just know it won't be pretty.

Wow, Andy. Prayers

Oldest dd 10 baked her first cake by herself with minimum supervision. She cracked the eggs and everything.

The Hershey kisses were her idea.

Great job!

Morning, gents!

Uggg... Andy... That corn is not looking good at all.

Can it still be salvaged for corn meal, or corn syrup?

...DS and I headed over to my mom and dads for a while today. We worked out in the shop for a while trying to get ready for harvest.

Andy, Prayers for you and the rest of the farmers are going through this. Can't remember if you have any beans out but I hope you have something to offset this.

:thumbsup2. I hear ya. It was amazing how on some nights, a loaf of bread would get damaged at the exact same time as a package of ice cream, chips, and lunch meat. What are the odds?

Must be that elusive, seldom talked about "Kentucky Triangle"

Andrew Luck's first pass (of preseason game against Rams) went for a TD. Maybe David will draft him in th first round of fantasy draft and that can help make up One spot of my horrid draft position.

Afternoon Gents,

It was a long weekend at Declan's soccer tournament. They ended up losing in the semis and while we were waiting around for the bronze they decided there wasn't suppose to be a bronze medal game, even though the schedule said there was. They played well all weekend even though they had a terrible schedule. First game on Friday afternoon, Saturday at 8 am and then again at 6:30 pm (first and last of the day). Oh well, can't expect a good schedule when you travel outside the Province. What did make it worse was the semi was at 8 am again this morning and our hotel was 45 minutes from the field.

Nice to be home and the bonus is that I checked my calendar for tomorrow and I booked it off as well. Sleeping in on Monday!!!

How is everyones afternoon going???? We had a nice service at church this morning and then we went out to dinner (since we had no food in the house). I had been crvnig Chinese food for several days so we hit up the local dive. I get a kick out of how people get All youi can eat and All you can carry mixed up!:rotfl2: I took a nice long 3 hour nap and now it is nearly time for church again...sounds like a perfect Sunday to me!!

Brent...how are things today with your wife and kids? Are they feeling pretty sore today???

Norm....Lauren is a hoot. I am glad someone besides me finds humor in her words of wisdom :rotfl: However, i am sure in a few years I am going to need emotional support when she hits the teen years!

Thank goodness there were no serious injuries!!! Things can be replaced but our loved ones can not be. I agree that when you think you are about to get ahead in life something unexpected happens and life throws you a curve ball. Hang in there buddy...it will get better...I am praying that the other person had insurance coverage so that will get your car repaired on his dime and not yours!

Glad you made it home safe!

That stinks, Darcy. But I'm sure that otherwise it was a great experience!

Not a chance! I learned my lesson last year. I will draft no star Colts players :lmao: However, my pick is available for taking out other nemesis QB's :thumbsup2

The DW and I were cracking up over her "Lauren-isms" :lmao:

...usually, when we hear that phrase, it refers to the three cities that get ll the money in KY while the rest of the states gets none.
::yes::
Afternoon Gents,...

Good evening! Glad the tournament went well all things considered. Sounds like what my nephew goes through for hockey tournaments.

Sounds like a great day to me as well. Where do I sign up?

Anytime you have 2 X-chromosomes involved at any age you are just asking for trouble. Mine is 8 going on 25. I'm thinking of running away to Miami and hiding out with CJ since he will have an empty nest. Who am I kidding, I've even considered hiding out in CANADA!

Semi finals isn't bad. Congrats on game & holiday.

Chinese found sounds great. DW hates the buffet here, so we never go.

Mine have a few nuggets every now & then. I just laugh so hard I forget to post them. Hers were good.

Who is this new guy without spelling mistakes but all lower case typing, and a DVC avatar, and a countdown with 3 upcoming trips?

evening guys. Hope everyone had a good weekend. We ended up going up to the beach yesterday and spending the night. Was nice to get away with the fam for a quick trip, though the weather today wasn't great.

We're closing in on our food & wine trip. :cool1: Still haven't told DD. Planning on surprising her the morning of the flight. We'll see how it goes.

Hello again guys.

Posting from my hospital bed. I got admitted last night since my fever came back after being gone for 4 days so the Dr.s want to run the gamut on me to see if they can figure out what's going on.

I've got an Infectious Disease specialist, Pulminologist (for my pneumonia) as well as the regular attendings who are great. Everyone is baffled and I'm bored. Still getting antibiotics via IV as well as orally. Fever is mostly gone (99 range) but just waiting on tomorrow to see what's next.

Hate the waiting game, but glad everyone is trying hard to figure it out. Fortunately we live only a couple of blocks away so DW and DDs were able to come visit a couple of times today (without getting too bored here).

Watching the Olympics closing ceremonies for lack of other options right now.

Thanks Steve. What kills me is I don't feel that sick. Yes I get feverish and sluggish from that, but no cough, no shortness of breath, etc.
