Hi Guys. Have been wandering around the boards for a while now, just starting to post here and there. Family of 4, Me, somewhat DW(she is coming around slowly), DS12 and DD9. Last trip was for a baseball tournament at ESPN in May. Next trip not planned yet, but most likely 2014 when all of FLE is open. Live in MA. I believe I meet at least 72 of the criteria, maybe more. :rotfl2: Been 4 times as a child, 7 times with random family and friends.

Next event is a Nightmare Before Xmas 10th birthday party for DD in October. :cool1:
Welcome to the Club!

It may be more $ but I love doing them. Plus I know it will always be a good race with good support, We have had problems around here with races being run poorly. There was a rae earlier this year were they did not secure the finish area and drunks were allowed to cross in font of runners, then there was the disaster that was the inaugural Rock n' Sole Summerfest run 90 degrees not enough water and no back-up plan. I think more EMTs finish the race than participants and that race was almost $50. I will take the $120 and know I will have a good time.
I remember reading about that Summerfest run. No water or first aid on over the Hoan Bridge.

Do do the Briggs & Al's run? I'm doing that and the Lakefront Discovery 15K to help train me for the WDW half in January.

I smell Bacon

Mmmmmm, Cheddar Bacon Popcorn... Cheese and Bacon..., I don't know... Barry can we get a ruling here?

:thumbsup2Sconnie Approved!:thumbsup2

The RunDisney events are awesome, but really expensive compared to any other run out there. I have a hard time justifying the expense for the Marathon races every year, but somehow I keep doing them... :headache:

It's also nice to be able to tell people you just ran a race at Disney. Running a race makes me look athletic. Running a Disney race makes me look athletic and cool. Plus there's a medal. Most races just give a t-shirt. It's nice to wear the medal around the park for the rest of the day and get congratulated by CMs and other runners.

So that's the secret to looking cool. Took me 37 years to find out.

My bucket list item is to watch my wife run the race, while I enjoy being in WDW with a Dole Whip. :thumbsup2

That sounds like fun. If I start training now, I'll be able to run it 3 to 4 years.

I have the training now for that.

Morning, dads.

It's RAINING here. Like, actual water, falling from the skies, and in some sort of mass quantities as well. We are on tap to get more rain today than we did in all of June and July.

Of course, since I typed that, it will surely stop.

Congrats on the rain.

Yesterday was the first day in weeks I was able to take the kids to the park and not feel like I'm committing child abuse.

:lmao:

Taking a break from the beach for a quick lunch...beautiful sunshine today...tomorrow is the last day...where has the week gone??? We need to win our lotto soon!!

Sounds like a CJ type of day. Bravo.

The rest of the day? I'm wearing that thing for the rest of the week when I get back to work.

And a cool medal it is. Crash wore it to school when she got home. So did another kid that also ran the half. They were comrades in arms for the day. As an aside, it is 90% that she is going to run the full.

I like that idea better mark...is there a medal for that we can wear?

I'm there with you guys, except I'll have a Citrus Swirl.

Come on Norm, I have stayed at home for almost a week now. Steve, glad it was a good time, and sorry the week is coming to an end.

A whole week? That is a really long time. If you get that empty nest feeling, you can have my family and I move into your home. We'll gladly pay you nothing, but I'll buy you a bourbon every now and then if you loan me money to buy you a bourbon.

I'm 90% relieved that she won't have a chance to beat me again. 10% bummed that I won't get the opportunity to redeem myself. Has she begun training?

Happy Birthday Paul's wife... :cake:

Thanks Brian!

The medals are awesome. And it is really cool to have people congratulating you afterwards all around the parks. Def the best part of it, imo. :thumbsup2

You almost talked me into training for it.....Almost.

I think they're worth the money, but I think it's because I enjoy Disney as much as I do. I know others who have run Disney races and compare them pretty unfavorably to other larger races like Chicago/New York/London etc.

Yeah I could see that. I too love Disney so any excuse to go see the Mouse is good for me. If you dont like Disney than I would say stay away (manly so i have a beter time and chance to enter)
But I have to say that RunDisney was the most fun I have ever had at a race.

I remember reading about that Summerfest run. No water or first aid on over the Hoan Bridge.

That was a terrible run and the director took too long to admit to fault.
I work for Children's so I usually run or work the run, but the last 2 years Children's has not paid for our entry so I have not been around the race the last two years. It is a good event just doesn't work in to my race plans a lot. My mom works the lakefront marathon every year and we have been taking a relay team in the near future, not this year thou ToT and Wine & Dine are our fall races.

Wow, that long?? It must be killing you :lmao:

Thought about going to the Keys this weekend but there is too much going on.

The Pirate Princess is in Texas with the family of the kid that dared asked my daughter to the prom for his Air Force boot camp graduation. The house is empty and you guys are welcome to come down anytime. Have enough room for the wife and kids but you may have to sleep outside.

You can always step up and run the full. I will tell her to go easy on you.

She runs a few times a week so is in constant training. The wild card is college. She isn't sure that running will be on her schedule after she gets there. One of the things she did check out on her visit was the exercise rooms. Looking forward to hearing about her runs in 10 degree weather.

I swear my wife feeds the kids sugar and Red Bull on the days when she is going out for the evening. They are crazy tonight!! So much for a relaxing evening. I think it's time for baths and a Disney movie!

Be careful what you offer. I can sleep anywhere. I'll call my BIL for mooching advice.

Brilliant idea (if you had done it to her). Plan a revenge. Schedule a sleepover and "get called" into work.
