when in October?? Ours is the 28th...thus the 1028 in my username here...and e-mail...that way i have a constant reminder and then I just have to know the year to know how many years it has been LOL

You have it down to a science Steve.... ;)

:thumbsup2

Looks like I just hit 3000 posts with the previous one...I will have to wait until the 4000th post and try to time it better for a speech...in the meantime...thanks for putting up with me and being a great group of guys to call friends!:grouphug:

Congrats on 3k... you don't think you made a speech, but I say it was a quite a memorable quote... and most of all Shari would be proud.

Now let's get working on 5k.

We are the 23rd. We got married on Notre Dame vs. USC and the same day Joe Carter ripped out the hearts of Phillies fans.

Still brings a tear to my eye...

What a way to celebrate your Anniversary!

A bunch of old fogies around here... That's the year I graduated high school.

And here I thought I was the youngest Dad in the group. You've got me by 5 years. :cool1:

Oh and congrats on 3,000 posts Steve! How's Hilton Head?? :confused3

2000 must have been a popular year for weddings amongst DisDads....:rotfl2:
Easiest way to remember how long you've been married - you just have to know what year it is. So basically January and half of February are shot, because I still write the wrong year on my checks. (That's "cheques" for you Canucks :rotfl2:)

Happy Anniversary. With 9 to 9, that would be 1 per hour, with an extra. If you hit that ride first with a FP and then FP it later, you would get it. Don't they also have a single rider line? And, go when the park is not at 10s.
I don't think they have a single rider line. Even if they do, it kind of defeats the purpose of riding it together to celebrate our anniversary. :confused3
Being the beginning of August, the park will most likely be between an 8 and 10, but again, we're bound by the date of our anniversary.

We stopped in the restaurant for a KY Hot Brown. Meat, cheese, bacon, tomatos over bread.
I loved the Hot Brown I had in Louisville. :thumbsup2

But, it was a fun walk, great experience for the dds, and a physical challenge for me. They didn't have bourbon breaks along the way - the cave is in a dry county. There are several other tours, different lengths, and skill levels. There is a cheap, old musty smelling lodge there. They used to do the water boat tours 20 years ago, but those have all been moved to Bowling Green cave system, about another hour south. We may try both of those next year.
Great pictures - the girls look like they had a great time. We did the Frozen Niagra tour a few years back. The kids were pretty little and we picked it because it was the least bit of walking for them.
The Lost River Boat tour in Bowling Green is a lot of fun. I think I described it as "NOVA meets the Jungle Cruise".

Nice job Steve! It's great to have you around here as well.:thumbsup2

I feel meeting to death some weeks. And the whole meeting to plan meetings, Agh... :surfweb:
I had to re-arrange my work schedule yesterday - including finding alternate daycare for the kids, because we had a late meeting scheduled. 30 seconds after the meeting was to have started, my boss gets a call from the VP that supposed to run the meeting. He's tied up and needed to reschedule.

Does it include Bacon?
Everything involves bacon. ::yes::

Got my 2 mile run in last night, and I am thinking about joining a running club that they are starting up at the Y tonight. Maybe it will motivate me to get back on the weight loss bus.

Matt
I just want to say good luck, we're all counting on you.

Seriously - it's a good idea. Go for it!

Morning David and Congrats to Steve on 3K posts! I may one day attain such a distinction, but I'm kinda lazy about posting:rotfl2:.

Matt

You have less than 1K posts and run 2 miles. I have 7K posts and never run. Who's lazy? I think you have it figured out much bett than I.

Morning...have to get back into the swing of things again. :headache: All things considered, I am so glad DW comes home today, the last 5 days have worn me out. :rotfl2: Only got a couple hours of sleep to boot, so today'll be fun.

Have a good ones guys.

Hate days on no sleep. Good luck.

It's funny...all the day trips we still have planned are centered around my days off this month, neither of my staycations, although we'll spend the last weekend of summer vacation in Sarnia.

If we ever do it, I will call. Are all the uphill/downhill using stairs? At algonquin, a lot of the hills/ etc only had stairs for the ultra-steep portions, it was hard going up rock faces etc without them. Good thing it wasn't slick with rain. You'd use tree roots and embedded rocks for footholds
.

Depends on the tour. The Historic tour has stairs in and stairs out and some lights. The one that left before us yesterday was a 3 hour, 3 mile tour where you had to carry a lantern. That may not have the stairs.

Congrats on the 3K and taking the easy way out to remember your anniversary. That is why there are calendars on our phones.

I feel meeting to death some weeks. And the whole meeting to plan meetings, Agh... :surfweb:

Meeting to set a meeting. Torture.

Morning guys. Planned on hitting the gym this morning but it was a rough night. I woke up thinking about our trip. It wasn't anything bad, just laying out the game plan in my head. I may need to seek professional help :lmao:

It sounded to me that you had some good plans when we talked on Saturday. What are you struggling with?

I don't think they have a single rider line. Even if they do, it kind of defeats the purpose of riding it together to celebrate our anniversary. :confused3
Being the beginning of August, the park will most likely be between an 8 and 10, but again, we're bound by the date of our anniversary.

I wasn't thinking the whole day,but just a few to jump start your numbers. Can you pick the day before or after your anniversary if DHS had an EMH?

Great pictures - the girls look like they had a great time. We did the Frozen Niagra tour a few years back. The kids were pretty little and we picked it because it was the least bit of walking for them.
The Lost River Boat tour in Bowling Green is a lot of fun. I think I described it as "NOVA meets the Jungle Cruise".!

Mammoth Cave used to do them, but when one of the shrimp or fish populations dropped to low (endangered), they sent all their boats to Lost River in Bowling Green. Then, when Mammoth figured out it wasn't the boat causing the harm, but some type of runoff in the water, they fixed it, populations got larger, but they never brought the boats back.

Riding Tower of Terror and then eating at Cheesecake Factory?

At least you have that in the proper order.

Partially correct. But I think even Mark would brave ToT for free Cheesecake Factory.

Hmmm...I would think about it.

We have a winner! The plan is currently in pre-infancy stage, which is to say Bambi and I just started talking about it this past weekend. We'd to go back during the first part of August, 2013. On on the 5th - our 13th wedding anniversary, we'd plunge 13 stories, 13 times. I have no idea if this is even possible. I would think it might be if we hit rope drop, use Fastpass when we can, and just keep getting back in line.

That's your plan? I thought you guys were happily married. :rotfl2:

Julie says if I made her do that on her anniversary we wouldn't make it to the next one. :scared:

The last series of pictures from staycation. This installment is from Mammoth Cave. We are about 1.5 hours away.

We did the Historic tour. It is a 2 hour tour at the base of the park, which is fine walking downhill but stinks walking up.

Well, at least it's naturally air-conditioned. Well worth the trip!

That's good enough, Steve! All of our long rambling speeches basically say that anyway. :thumbsup2

Nice! I'll give you the same advice I gave my wife when she began training for the Tower of Terror 10 miler;

Whenever a run gets tough, just remember "Left foot, right foot, repeat".

That sage wisdom has gotten me through many a challenging run! :thumbsup2

Its funny you bring that up, I was/am considering doing one of the RunDisney events, but I dont have the dinero to fund it right now.

My own mantra that I chant is "Pant pant..1/4 mile more. I just need to do 1/4 mile more.":lmao:

Matt

I think first of all that it sounds like a great idea and lots of fun. Secondly, if you hit rope drop and use fp, it is definitely doable the way TOT can really run people through. Even on a busy day the line tends to stay manageable most of the time so I don't see this really taking a whole lot of work to make it happen. If you hit RD you could probably ride 3 times the first hour and have an FP in hand.

A bunch of old fogies around here... That's the year I graduated high school.

That means you were born about the time I graduated high school. GET OFF MY LAWN! :rotfl2:

Barry, I did some research this morning and I cannot find an official record for riding TOT back to back. My thought is that you contact Disney and Guinness World Records to arrange this epic try. My thoughts are with a record on the line, Disney will let you ride it without getting off. :thumbsup2

Concise and heartfelt. The only thing that speech needed was

Morning gentlemen. :coffee:

Looks like I'm about 20 pages behind. I'll try and catch up later. :rotfl2:

Yesterday the kids started responding to everything I told them to do with, "But Daddy,"

"Eat your Breakfast," "But Daddy,"
"get Dressed," "But Daddy,"
"Eat your food," "But Daddy,"
I finally lost it when I told DS to pick up his cars. He replied, "But Daddy there's too many." :furious:

The RunDisney events are awesome, but really expensive compared to any other run out there. I have a hard time justifying the expense for the Marathon races every year, but somehow I keep doing them... :headache:

My hats off to you runners out there. I know I should run more but just can't get my legs to get going.

Don't let my posts fool you, I suck at running. I was doing 3 miles, but I'm down to 2 now. Trying to work back to where I was pre summer.

And I most likely wont do any of the Run disney events, but as far as dreams go...
