RAM. You're gonna want at least 8gb for photoshop. You can upgrade after the fact by buying from sites like Crucial. I think the cost is substantially less through them than it is if you buy through apple. If you are getting it through craigslist or something like that I am not sure how much of a price impact the ram has. When we bought my wife's I looked at the performance benchmarks of the different quad-core MBPros and there was a substantial difference between the 2.2 and 2.5 i7 .

Ryan had good advice. I have a 17" with the black keys. I swapped out the standard Hard Drive for an SSD and performance is noticeably better. It's a bit on the heavy side, but I don't think it's too bad. I have a backpack that I carry it around in to spread the weight. $1100 sounds like a good deal. Have you seen the machine? Is it in good physical condition?

Yeah I run it kinda fine right now with 4GB but I would go to 8GB and a SSD But I dont think I will go crazy with the SSD maybe a 250GB one. I was looking at the 2.5 i7 but my question is would I notice a difference in these two below? My question is would I benefit from a better resolution and take a hit on the processor speed? Or take the lower resolution and have a faster processor by .1? I would max the ram out and I am considering replacing my 128GB with a 250GB and getting a second SSD to replace my optical and just get an external superdrive for optical.

As for seeing the 17" one. It is in flawless condition to the outside, no signs of spills, or display issues. Multitasks well. Sound is studio quality to me. After the two 15" comparisons is the the info about the 17" one I am looking at also.

You see the refection in the screen. That's where the antiglare screen is key (like the 15'' example). If you aren't going to be using the computer in a bright environment for extended periods of time then you should be ok, but I've heard you can really get sick of that reflection. Yea, it looks pretty and all but what is more practical?

Shoot I never noticed that before you said that. Well the 17" is out. I dont want to see two keyboards like in the image, I would get distracted.

Maybe a few other MBP users can chime in here...

Barry, is do you have the glossy or anti-glare screen?

I DJ with my computer outside for 6 weeks straight, and I would lose my mind if I have to look at that glossy screen. :scared:

I do enjoy to be outside a lot myself with it.

I may want to pop it out of the bag and dump the pics onto it while at the park.

Well any thoughts about the question on the differences between these two?

I'd say the one in RED because of the anti-glare screen which also has better resolution. They are the same computer. You can up the RAM to 16g on that machine too for $162.

Don't go spending your money just yet... let's hear some other opinions too.

I'd love a SSD but the price point is not practicable for me. I need over a TB of HD space and have you ever priced a 1-2TB SSD drive? :scared:

That's why I wound up putting hybrid SSD drives in. They have a portion of the disk that's flash memory and it puts the files which are used most often their. The rest of the disk functions like a traditional hard drive. Performance wise its better than a traditional drive but not as good as an SSD. You can find them in much larger drives than you can get an SSD and the cost is much lower.

On first glance I thought that there wouldn't be much of a performance difference between these two. I did some digging and it looks like in benchmark testing the 2.5 is only 3% faster. I don't think you'd notice that performance difference

Both my airs are glossy, but I really only use them inside.

I would go with the red description for the Macbook as well, for teh antiglare screen andbetter resolution, especially if you use it outdoors a fair amount of time.

On another note, I was able to order tickets for the Disney on Ice Worlds of Fantasy tour. This will help in getting my disney fix until next summer vacation.

I don't even know of they make them yet. a 512 on apple.com is $900.

I found one. For $2499. Plus $5 shipping. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820227797

There's no way I can afford to pay $5 for shipping.

I would vote for the 2nd one with the larger resolution. Mine is 1920x1200 and I use every bit of it when I'm working in Photoshop.

Barry, is do you have the glossy or anti-glare screen?
I'm not sure. In my office, as I sit at the machine a large window is just to my right. I see some reflection, but it's not too hard to focus on the screen and not on the reflection.

I DJ with my computer outside for 6 weeks straight, and I would lose my mind if I have to look at that glossy screen. :scared:
As opposed to losing your mind from hearing "Call Me Maybe" everyday for 6 weeks straight. :confused3

Sorry about that. On an unrelated note, I'm going to pull my kids out of school to go to Disney with the refillable mugs we bought 3 years ago. We're staying at POP, but plan to swim at the Poly pool whenever we're not parking at Downtown Disney to avoid paying for parking at the theme parks. Also, I'm a Brazilian Tour group made up of Cheerleaders and Pop Warner Football teams.

That is almost 2 Disney vacations.

Does your screen have a bezel? If yes, then you have the anti-glare screen. If your screen is smooth and goes all the way to the side then you have the glossy.

Is it sad that I don't mind that song? :tiptoe:

You forget not standing on the bus when there are pregnant woman standing, passing your 8yr old as a 2 yr old so you don't have to pay for park tickets, and lying about your birthday to get 'perks'.

Yeah. I can hardly multi quote anything from the last two pages. I can figure out most any computer I use, but couldn't keep up with all of that back there,

Good morning Dads! Wasting a bit of time and catching up here this morning. I am officially on Vacation! Hit the road tomorrow for more sand and surf.
!

Have a great trip.

“

Instead the boy and I are headed for another collage campus tour.
I’m looking forward to a good day trip. It will be hotter then Forty He||s, but still a good day.
.

It's really difficult to pick a good college right now. Most of the students haven't returned yet and he may not be sure which place has the best parties.

Getting them to work on my phone is another problem. Although I am pretty sure the issue is the ID10T that owns the phone!

OE. Operator error.

Morning Dads

After a week and a half of being seeing I'm finally feeling close to my normal self again, and its Friday and today is Krispy Kreme day at the office. All in all things are looking pretty good.?

Krispy Kreme day sounds great.

Thanks guys. BREAKING NEWS: Stomach contents successfully expelled. Film at eleven. Actually feel better now.

You can keep those pics to yourself.

The problem is the Pirate Princess missed the freshman orientation because we were in Hawaii. Now she gets the dregs of classes left. Sucks for her. Me, I am chuckling. "Oh, you have an 8 am class on Monday morning. Bless your heart."

Yeah, that will keep her from partying. Just keep telling yourself that.

Three things I agree on the Laptop Advice, That first part was too funny I actually had to explain to another cm what I was laughing about, last I am complete angry with that song because it is such a fascination by so many people it changes my mood just hearing it play from someones car. I start feeling road rage.
