Oh very sorry I thought thats what that was, please excuse me. Thanks now?!?

Maybe it was someone else that welcomed you. It's hard to keep track in here. Or maybe I welcomed you twice. I'm starting to get confused.

SQUIRREL! :squirrel:

Day 6 of no electricity. :sad2:

I'm thankful that my gas grill has a side burner to heat water (and that I don't need electricity to have water).

I'm pretty good at surviving without the power but I would be more accepting of my fate if it wasn't going to be in the high 90's with 50% humidity. :crazy2:

Stayed home most all day yesterday so I did not have internet access. I'll have to try catching up through the day today.

Hope everyone else is doing well!

You hope we're doing well? We hope you're doing well! Stay hydrated and good luck.

Wow. I'm not sure where you live, but if it's around Lynchburg I hear that your poop has made its way to Richmond. Apparently one (or all) of the waste water treatment plants in Lynchburg dumped 2.5 million gallons of partially treated waste water in to the James River due to the power outage. It made its way through town yesterday I think.

Please do tell...

I have some official Dole whip Mix and a Icecream Mixer... how ever mine always turn out a little ...ummm soupy/runny.

Oh and welcome to the Club. Insider man. :wave2:

I made a homemade pineapple vanilla ice cream once. I am a fairly good cook, for being taught in a grocery store deli/bakery, and i used by standard vanilla recipe with pineapple juice. Of course, i rarely write down any recipes but wing it. I know it had heavy whipping cream. I'll check. Better yet, i need to make another batch.

Oh, and if you couldn't tell by my rambling in my last post, I really don't care to be at work today.

When is a day you want to be at work?

Morning folks..

Morning guys

Back to work after the fourth. Not feeling the love, and I certainly don't feel like putting up with the job today. Gonna be hard to keep my head down and my mouth closed.:surfweb:

Matt

Just don't say anything you'll regret later in the heat of the moment...

I have to take my car in for some new tires. I think I am going to just add fronts only as the back looks ok. Then, a day at the office and a 3 day weekend. Have a great day everyone.

Sweet...

That's why I bought the VHS, DVD, DVD extended, and Blu Ray... and STILL George refuses to acknowledge him!

Thank goodness SOMEBODY got around to rectifing the situation.

That was hilarious. It's not like the Canadians were involved with our independence right lol. I was sitting here last night wondering what if any significance the fourth was to Canadians.

It means the US channels have some good marathons on :lmao:

And now my 7yo and 5yo are in the car with DW's parents, heading up north. Bambi, the baby and I will be joining them after work tomorrow. Anyone want to guess what kind of sugar-high they'll be on when we find them?

Same as I expect to find Amelia when her grandparents bring her home next week.

Oh, and if you couldn't tell by my rambling in my last post, I really don't care to be at work today.

I don't care any day to be at work, other then the pay-part :rotfl2:

I was really thrown off yesterday, too. I kept thinking it was Saturday and then realizing, no, I'm actually still a week and a half away from vacation. :sad1:
And the kids still have no idea about "phase 2"?

As opposed to... :confused3
When is a day you want to be at work?
Not long after Ryder was born and DW's parents were staying with us. Then her grandmother came for a day. THAT is a day that I was happy to be at work.

Daddy, what kind of fish is that?
Looks like a brown trout, dear.

As soon as I posted that, I wondered "hmm.. how long til Barry makes a poop joke?". Answer: 31 minutes. About 30 longer than I expected.

*shudder*

And the kids still have no idea about "phase 2"?

They don't know about any of it yet. We've told them they're going on a "surprise vacation" this year. If they keep asking, I tell them it's Newark, NJ. :thumbsup2

The plan is to pack up the van and start driving. DW wants to give the kids highway maps and see if they can follow where we're going along the way. When we pull up to the beach house in Pawleys Island, our friends will already be there. So we'll act as though the "surprise" is that they get to spend the week at the beach with the kids. At the end of the week, we make like vacation is over, and then turn south instead of north. Then we'll see how long it takes them to realize we're in Florida and heading to...well, you know.

Yikes. It would be melt down city at my house under those conditions. Prayers.

Thanks for the Prayers.

Still?! :scared1:

Man, I feel for you, Mike. We're 6 hours away if you want to sleep in the air-conditioned guest bed.

Thanks, but that makes for one heck of a commute to work... :thumbsup2

Wow your still without power. Damn. Have they given an ETA on it returning?

Hoping for today. They say it may be as long as Saturday.

Good luck Mike...

That's a horrible position to be in, but you seem to have a great attitude about it.

My attitude would probably be much different if DW and DDs were still here. They headed to the in-laws house last Saturday and have been enjoying the AC and internet connectivity. Although I can tell that DMIL is wearing on DW...

You hope we're doing well? We hope you're doing well! Stay hydrated and good luck.

Not mine, I have a septic system. Apparently, not only does it roll down hill but it also floats down river... :upsidedow

Wow day six, thats got to be rough. Hang in there, and hope you get power back soon

Thanks

:rotfl2: I can laugh since I'm up river...

Hey fellas....

I was in the middle of a long heartfelt post to you guys last night but then I lost it. I was so mad that I just shut off the computer. :badpc:

Anyway, I hope everyone is well and I hope to pop my head in here a little more often now that my work has slowed.

Oh yea, 8 days till our 2 day Disney cruise to nowhere out of NYC! :cheer2:
Hi Tim! :wave2:

How's the achilles?

Had an interesting 4th yesterday. Woke up at 5:30 thinking it was Saturday since I wasn't going to work. Started scrolling through the email on my phone (I'm on-call for work) and didn't see the system generated messages that I was supposed to see on Saturday morning. Peanut Butter and Beverly, the system is going haywire again. So I stumble out of bed, grab my laptop and open it up. Then I realize I can't see because I don't have my glasses. After I find them, I fire up my connection software, then realize it's Wednesday. :headache:

So it's not even 6am, no one else is awake, and it's already 80°. What else is there to do but hop in the pool. I laid on a floating mat for about 30 minutes just enjoying the "cool" part of the day. As soon as the sun started peeking out over the garage, though, I knew we were in for a scorcher.

Racine hit 102° yesterday and I was out standing at my grill. (Seriously, you should taste what comes off of that thing. It's outstanding.:rotfl::lmao::rotfl2:)

Fireworks were at the beach 12 blocks from my house. The show was good, but there was no soundtrack. :sad1: Disney has spoiled fireworks for me for ever.

We drove down, just in case we needed an A/C break while waiting. With all the traffic and pedestrians, it took us 30 minutes to get the 12 blocks home.

And now my 7yo and 5yo are in the car with DW's parents, heading up north. Bambi, the baby and I will be joining them after work tomorrow. Anyone want to guess what kind of sugar-high they'll be on when we find them?
Ok, I'm with you on the Wednesday/Saturday thing. I was confused yesterday too. But you drove to a fireworks display 12 blocks away? :confused3

You couldn't just watch from home? :lmao::rotfl:

You're not the only one.

I'm really looking forward to this TR. :thumbsup2

Hey everyone, how will I know if and when I get my DDC number?
Don (Emma's Dad) will post and issue your number whenever he stops by.

As soon as I posted that, I wondered "hmm.. how long til Barry makes a poop joke?". Answer: 31 minutes. About 30 longer than I expected.
I had started typing a response about the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District's Deep Tunnel system - a series of underground tunnels that hold over 520 million gallons of combined storm and sanitary sewer overflow until it can be treated by the district's 2 water treatment plants. During heavy rainstorms, it's not uncommon for the tunnel to fill up, so they have to dump untreated waste in the lake. But then I realized that no one would care about that, and frankly, most of you were expecting a poop joke. I don't disappoint. :thumbsup2

Ok, I'm with you on the Wednesday/Saturday thing. I was confused yesterday too. But you drove to a fireworks display 12 blocks away? :confused3

Unfortunately, yes. They shoot the fireworks off of a pier in Lake Michigan which is at the base of a 40' bluff - you know, the one Madison rode her bike off of. Couple that with 12 blocks of century old oak trees and there's no way we can see that from the house. Besides, we Evan and I played catch on the beach while we waited, then sat on the water's edge watching the fireworks paint the sky and reflect off the water as a blood orange moon rose rose behind them. Aside from the traffic and a lack of soundtrack, it was a wonderful night.

I'm not. That means the trip will be over. :sad1:

That actually does sound interesting to me. But you're right, I was expecting a poop joke. :thumbsup2

The way you make that sound, why would you go back home? :confused3

What's your restaurant called again... maybe we will take a suprise trip up some weekend this summer.

It was a fried chicken place... if I recall... ???

Yup and fish and chips. We are in uxbridge and called Mad Millie's. It would be cool to have a DisDad in the restaurant!

I do enjoy the windows phone, but will be happy with the iPhone. Of course, I'll wait until the phone dies before I do an upgrade. My desktop is 7 years old now. It is a Dell desktop, and while a great computer, it is starting to slowly wind down. I'm still running XP. So, I think I am on the right track to upgrade everything over, just a matter of time. Those MacBooks aren't cheap though.

My Mac is about 7 years old as well and my kids needed a computer so... The only logical answer was to buy ME a new one and give them the old one. I rebooted it and reinstalled everything and it is running like new. More expensive in the beginning but I feel I have gotten my money's worth out of it over the period of time it lasts without issues.
