Question. Finish packing or watch the Heat game? What a conundrum.

Dude, you're a dude. How long does it take? 7 nights = 7 tshirts, 7 underwear, 7 shorts, 7 pairs socks, crocs. Then, add the electronics.

The guest house is mine to clog :rotfl2:

Yup. I didn't forget about you. You can send Brian the bill.

Thanks, soccer will be first on his list but they won't start until September.

Glad to hear your daughter is feeling better.

Thanks. Does you MS team have other local teams or will they be traveling?

Thanks, he was pretty happy with his report card (and so were we) straights A's for our boy in both French and English.

Congrats to him.

I found a great app for the iPad. Photon Flash Player. It costs $5, but it does what is says. It adds flash to Internet sites. Now, you have to thru the app which means you can't use safari and have to rebook mark your sites. It also allows you to split your view so that you can watch two Or three sites at the same time. I only have D-cot and ESPN radio thru it, but they work great.

I'm skipping the Heat pre-game. KET (Ky educational tv - is that an oxymoron) has a show about hotdogs. Yum!

The middle school he will attend will have a JV team for the grade 6 and 7 kids and a Varsity team for the 7s and 8s. Our district will have 9 other middle schools that will play in their league, half in the city and the rest within about a 40 minute drive.

His summer club team travels throughout part of the province for the season and then plays the other regions in the provincial championship.

That's not too bad. Here, we only have 4 MS school teams. Then, you get into other counties which similar to you, are within a 40 minute drive, but they are around 40 miles one way. That adds in another few MS teams. HS is even less. Unfortunately, there is not a lot of honor here, and coaches (&parents) will steal kids from higher divisions or select teams and put them on MS teams for certain opponents. I get so tired of this Beverly. But, it happens everywhere, so I guess it's better they learn now that every one out there cheats to get ahead.

When do your kids go back to school? Is it soon?

They start Aug 15. Soccer season doesn't start until September. Tryouts now for MS teams. Soccer was not a popular sport in this city 30 years ago, but really has picked up in the last decade. Our Rec program is really big through U11. Unfortunately, the Select team is stealing players and I am not sure how it will be in the next few years. Because of the # of teams, the select team is staling rec players to create "additional" select teams, which in reality, are just beat up teams. The parents involved in that board are playing their own kids over the talented players and are good at conning our rec kids into being on the beat up teams. Their goal is to have more opponents to prevent some travel.

Ok now that I have some room mates for our DDC trip its time to get to know them a little better. So here we go.Scott,Chris here is a what would you do question.

We are sitting around the room socializing and I start to choke on a bacon wrapped scallop. What would you do???? would you hand me a beer to wash it down? would you get me a glass of water as to not share the beer? would you just let me choke to save more bacon/scallops and beer for you? Would you move me from in front of the fridge so if I died I would not block the path to the fridge? or other???:confused3

More than likely my boy scout training would kick in and cause me to perform the heimlich maneuver on you and save your life.

By saving your life, I would then make sure you rewarded me with as many dole whips and adult beverages that I wanted for the remainder of the trip.

:thumbsup2

Luckily we haven't had that problem here. Rec goes from 4 to 18 and competitive starts at u12. Competitive has 2 divisions, premiership and division 1. Premiership is the top level and plays in a provincial league and division 1 is a regional league. There is one or two teams in each age group of each division. Premiership can call a player up 3 teams if they need someone. Both also have a couple of out-of-province tournaments.

Well, the crazy week of swim & soccer is done - no lessons tomorrow, although we may go and do the open swim at the pool. Thinking that we need to get DS (at least) into private lessons - the instructors at the Y are good, but I think his class had close to 30 kids in it - so, he only spent 5-10 minutes in the water per half hour session, and it's hard to learn much that way.

Nothing much this weekend, although we might take the kids to see Brave tomorrow. DD really wants to see it (for Merida), DS is okay with seeing it (but mainly for the bear and the crude humor in the trailer).

I guess that since it is so new here, these idiots are just trying to keep up with the Joneses. But, they are just going about it all wrong. One of the bad things of living in a small town. No other choices available.

Hopefully thell figure it out before some parents ruin it.

I was getting very scared .With not seeing a post back from either roomie I thought for sure you guys would just let me die.

They have a little tutorial, but basically, you turn on the lightening when y want to enable flash. Then, click on the setting button in top right. There are 6 different bandwidth settings, not in order from strongest to weakest, but different ones to adjust to whatever site. They say it is not recommended for 3G. it does drain your battery faster.

Random observation for the day (as I relaxed in front of the TV) - it's amazing how sometimes a single drink (in this case, a gin & tonic) can arrive in multiple glasses. ;)

I was on here yesterday talking about the heat and how it would be worse today. Well then I saw this this am and figured, yea I can suck it up and deal with it today..

ahh... this is the picture that was causing a debate at work. It was interesting how many people took offense to people posting it on FB or whereever. I guess people are okay with enjoying their freedoms that others put their lives on the line to defend, as long as you don't remind them of it.

If you need a highly paid assistant stationed 8 hours away who doesn't actually do any work, then I'm available for hire.

I don't think the position comes with an assistant. But if it does, I'll recommend you. :thumbsup2
