Howdy all…
This silly “work” thing has been keeping me frustrated and very busy near to the point of breaking, and it just got a bit worse this morning. I rather miss talking to y’all but I am trying to read along at least. Posting, however, is getting more difficult by the day.

But this one I can’t ignore…

Crud.

Beverly.

Peanut butter.

I'm alright, DS is alright and all the kids and the bus driver are all right, but below is the result of a school bus running a stop sign. I took to the ditch to keep from hitting him sqare on the side, so my truck took most of the damage, but it wasn't a hard hit, no airbags deployed and nobody was injured.

Good googly-moogly…. that bites!
Sorry to hear about this Andy. I am glad that all are well though.
Your instincts could really be considered heroic given the potential consequences of plowing into a school bus. But this is one of those instances even knowing that you did the right thing, just doesn’t make it easier.
:headache:

Ryder has been napping on my chest for the last hour or so, so i've been catching up on the Dis while i relax on the couch. These baby vacations are pretty awesome!
Had the little guy at the doc Tuesday for his checkup. He said all of the trauma from his rocky start to life is behind him and he is a perfectly healthy little boy.

Excellent news, and it sounds like an excellent way to spend an afternoon.

I'm glad you're both ok. That's a lot of mass running into you, and it looks like the truck did its job of protecting you.

I've spent the last 20 minutes or so trying to figure out how to get home, run a few miles, and pick up my older daughter. Then I stopped and sat, stunned, that I was not using it as an excuse to not run.

speaking of car insurance. our chrysler town and country is paid for. we dont use it much so its in good shape with very low miles. tammy drives a 2001 (not a misprint) chevy tracker. even that only has 60k on it.well, she has been hinting for a new car. ( some women are just never happy :lmao:)
.

We did some car shifting as well. Our newest vehicle, 2004 Pontiac Axtek, has 99K and is our new vacation vehicle. DW has reacquired the minivan, a 2002 with 175K. I have the 1997 Camry at 155K. No car payments. I only do liability on the van and car, but keep collusion on Aztek.

That is why everyone should move over to the other side. There are a lot of us there already. And some of us don't get back over here much. It is free and the other section is only $1. Come on. See you all there.

I still check DVC thread, ky dvc thread, commando.thread, resort lovers threads, and a few others exclusive to Dis. Plus, habits are difficult to break.

My good friend was at the Indiana Jones stunt show when his wallet was lifted from his rear pants pocket. He later found his wallet on the way out of the show in the aisle all tore up. The thief took his credit cards, park ticket and all cash. The Happiest Place on Earth has thiefs in it also.

I read some where else on Dis where someone tried to steal backpacks with iPhone inside at WL pool and was caught on the get away boat to MK and the owner and turned the ringers on iPhone. It can happen anywhere. I try to take my phone, KTTW card, and id only to parks.

AFW...for some reason I can't quote, but wow man, glad no one was hurt!

I'm sitting here listening to the police radio traffic in regard to the First Lady, Ellen DeGeneres and multiple Disney characters coming into NAS JAX this evening. Working with the Secret Service is always fun....they're so subtle somtimes

He already proved he is a tough little man. Glad the checkup was good news. Is he telling you to get off the couch and start running again yet?

Will compete with any of you in a drinking game - not a drinking Beverly game.

Glad your not posting for bail money.

A vacation from a vacation. A great idea.

Second the non Beverly drinking game. But I will assume a few of the macho dads (notice I did not say stupid) will take on the challenge. Barry, wait until after your run the half. Maybe a nemesis challenge? Since I do not have a nemesis, I am good with that. Dis Dad Convention Beverly Smack down. I like that idea. And I think a drink around the World game is going to happen.

Nope, no bail money needed. I tried to not like the kid but couldn't.

A vacation from a vacation? Why didn't I think of that? Sounds like a good idea. Think I will take a vacation from the last vacation that I had to take from the last vacation next weekend to look at fishes. Friend from the UK will be in town and he wants to go to the keys. Bringing a guy from Germany with him who is retiring. Should be a fun weekend. Just need to avoid the whole Anglo/German thing.

...OK, so I met the kid that wants to take my child to the prom. Would like to say I hate him but he really is a nice kid. A bit goofy but who wasn't at 18. I could also tell the Pirate Princess Pirate is the one in charge. Signed up for the Air Force Reserves to pay for his education. All in all a nice kid. It went pretty well and there were no baseball bats involved. Even gave them my tickets to the game on Sunday.

Well done to the PPP on selecting a promising gentlemen to have the privilege of escorting her. Sounds like a decent sort with his head on right. You did a good job raising her!

I must have missed something about her becoming a PP Pirate. Better tell her to stock up on her woolies. NJ is a bit colder than Miami. :lmao:

Those naps with the baby on the chest were great. I miss those days. Glad Ryder is doing well.

Today is DW's birthday. She got her favorite present - a day without the kids! They've been unloaded on to a friend for the next few hours and then they go to Grandma's house until tomorrow. She's :cloud9:right now. We'll go out for dinner and a movie for the rarely seen "date night".

My kids are funny. They think cash is the best present you can ever give a person. All in all, my wife got $5.40 from kids.

Happy B-Day to the Mrs. and you have some smart kids there. Cash is definitely in the top 5 presents.

Excellent work! That is a great present. Today is also my son's birthday, but he got a Lego set, a baseball glove and a Star Wars action figure instead of time alone. Priorities...

He also wants to have his birthday dinner at McDonald's. :crazy2: I don't think he cares about the food so much as the Happy Meal toy.

And your kids are right. Cash is a wonderful gift. Don't spend it all in one place! :rotfl2:

Happy birthday to your son! Maybe you can score a dozen toys at a yard sale and tell him they are giving them out at the steakhouse next time.

I told ya you should've bought that Ford! You could've had that "force field" option on it!

JK

Glad everyone's ok - especially the little guy. :thumbsup2

Why Hello There! :wave2:

So our trip to Florida without stopping in WDW is complete. We hung out with DWs grandfather in Bradenton from Friday to yesterday. We went to eat in St. Petersburg, we were beach bums on Holmes Beach 2 days, met up with DWs cousin for 2 days, drove to Cape Coral for a day to see DWs friend who just had a baby, ate at Jose's Real Cuban Food- seen on Diners, Drive-ins, & Dives, and took more trips to Wal-Mart to last me the rest of this year. WHEW. I'm tired. I need a vacation.

My DIS time has been non-existant due to getting ready for this trip, work, & kids. Every time I have a free minute and I try to DIS, this site doesnt work. Oh well, I hope everyone has been well! :thumbsup2

Welcome back and glad the trip went well.

 :headache:

Glad there were no serious bodily injuries. Hope it gets resolved quickly and to your satisfaction.

I'll second the good wishes in Ryder's direction.
Regarding the baby naps, yeah, they were great, but they always gave me a baby-shaped sweat stain on my shirt. Between my body temp and his, sometimes I'm surprised we didn't spontaneously combust. Don't even ask about when a cat decided to join in.... :lmao:

Or maybe I should have gone with a Ram. :confused3 :lmao::rotfl2:

Honestly, I was really close to buying a Ford. I actually looked at one before we went on vacation last winter and pretty much decided if it was still there when I got back, I'd buy it. They sold it the day we were driving home.

I've always had Chevy's and liked them though. Love this truck... at least I did before the side got caved in. Hard to beat that Allison transmission.

Why? Is he Red Skull to your Captain America?

FIL has always owned GM or Chevy. Grandfather used Chevy trucks on his farm. I don't have any farm work, but still prefer a truck it SUV to the minivan.

So the last game of the lacrosse season was today. Again got killed but the story could have a fairy tale ending. With about 2 minutes to go, the Pirate Princess got fouled just outside of the crease. Ref gives her the ball and the other team has to be a few steps back. Only Senior on the team and could have the final goal of the season. So what does she do? Threw it hard but it sailed over the net. Naturally I consoled her after the game by telling her what her coach has been telling her, "AIM LOW."

It was actually nice after the game, the team huddled up with her in the middle jumping up and down and chanting her name. Last high school athletic event in her life. She cried, her teammates cried and have to admit I got some soot in my eye. Fire in the Everglades you know.

On a scarier note, one of the moms was talking to me who has kids on the boys team. She commented on what a nice young man my daughter has. WHAT? Seems I was mislead and the "friend" that is taking her to the prom may be more than a friend. Wish I had that info last night. I would have been a lot tougher on the kid.

She got a taste of it when we were up there. The weather stunk.

Why? Is he Red Skull to your Captain America?

No, it is the whole British/German thing. I am not involved other than to say we kicked your butt (to the English guy) in 1776 and had to come over and save your butt in WWII. I'll leave the other guy alone. They are actually good friends and the German guy is excited to be diving in the Keys. First time for him. Hopefully the new guy will like me and I have another place to stay in Europe.

That's great news for you and Princess Crash....

But not for us DISDad's... we were hoping for some major drama, maybe even gunfire. :cool2:

Oh well... there's always next time. :rolleyes1

All kidding aside, that's great news. Shows she's making responsible decisions. That's gotta give ya a bit of comfort with her going off to college. :thumbsup2

:scared1:

Hope all is ok.

Pretty sure I posted something last night and it never showed up.. so yeah...

Well, maybe the post is whatever shows up as my post about a stolen wallet? :rotfl2:

Apparently, I steal posts too..

:headache: I had to change from the insurance company that I had been with for 18 years. Couldn't afford them when I looked at adding a 3rd driver and a 3rd vehicle.

Appropriate Smilie, and Thanks.

Two years from now will be about the time that my 2nd DD gets her license. I'll be tense for a LOOONG time. :sad2:

NO ONE is safe... :lmao:

Could be worse, *I* could get my license, :scared1::crazy2::scared:

I loved my time with the girls. How much time are you taking off?

I can't remember what medicine it was for but when we lived in Canada there was a commercial where a kid walks in the room with a bear that had stuffing sticking out and says "Mommy, teddy is hurt"

I always said my reaction would have been "OH MY GOD!!!! HIS GUTS ARE HANGING OUT!!! WHAT HAVE YOU DONE!!!" and start making retching noises like I was going to throw up.

Just my luck, DS is so good with his toys that we have Happy Meal toys from 4 years ago that still look new. He never breaks anything.

Mine destroy on sight. I don't remember that commercial, but I LOVE the messing w/head idea. I need to take notes

Really glad you and everyone's okay, hope insurance covers it all.

But I can't help but think..WHY THE HELL IS A SCHOOL BUS DRIVER RUNNING A STOP SIGN!!??

Why are Dad's always the last to know.

Morning everyone....see the boards are being a pain lately :sad2:

Sent the little one back to school, she slept soundly through the night, so that makes one of us. Woke up over a dozen times, and got confused by the time, thought it was tine to wake up at 1am :scared1: Ugh

This is what I typed this morning, here is what I was posted as..

Not me..

To reply though, I don't even bring my wallet to DW, it stays at home. The couple of cards I do bring stay in a small "card wallet" I use the rest of the year for my bus passes, and stays in the front shorts pocket, I'll know if someone puts their hand in there :scared1: :lmao:
