So… It seems that I have an excursion in the offing in about three weeks. Wish I could say we were heading toward Florida, but nope; not this time. Going north-ish instead up to the Dayton OH area for a competition.

:car:

As there may be some opportunities for a side trip or two, would any of you fellas up in the original “North West Territory” care to suggest anything that just needs to be experienced? We’ll probably head up via I-77 (through WV) and US-35 across OH, but the tip back home could be more convoluted.

Thoughts? Suggestions? Anything just too quirky to be missed?
Whacky roadside attractions or hole-in-the-wall dinners?
I might as well have a little fun with this trip.

:cool2:
I was going to mention the air museum, otherwise... well, it's Dayton, OH. :lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:

The only other thing I can think of is if your wife is into Longaberger stuff, their farm/shop/factory/museum/whatever is somewhere between Dayton and Columbus. DW, SIL and MIL go there at least once a year. If you want to be able to buy gas to drive home, you might not want to mention that idea though. :faint:

I doubt that I'll be available for a meet up between farm work and the expected arrival of DD around that time, but I hope you have a good trip.

Wow... have to point out that the DISBoards are responding the quickest I've seen in years! :cool1:

and I missed it!! :scared1:

Sorry folks - had a typo in there.

Just to show you I couldn't even type what he said on purpose.

I know you probably read the Bold Part up there and said "So what, if the called it "THE Magic Kingdom", why does Brian think that was so funny that he had to emphasize it with (That's exactley what he said)."

Well, the reason I thought it was so funny (or sad actually), was because he didn't call it "The Magic Kingdom", he called it "The MagicAL Kingdom". :sad2:
I just want to cry.

thanks for clearing that up... I was wondering. :rolleyes1

Don, way to pick up the slack (Birthday Greetings) in Randall's absence. :thumbsup2

Neck Pain update

So after seeing my useless Dr. the pain continued.

On Monday I made an appt. with a registered massage therapist (for today at 9:00 am.)

Well, yesterday the pain wasn't as bad, and today it's not to bad. By "not bad", I mean it's still there but more of an annoance or discomfort than pain.

I am still going to go to the appt. and see if we can kick all remnants of it.

Good luck!! Hope it is feeling better!

2 more days of purgatory! 12 hours today and 10 tomorrow. :headache:

Worse yet, my DW has a conference for her job tomorrow 2 and a half hours away. It starts at 8:30a  and won't be done till 4:30p.

Needless to say, there will be a whole lot of last minute scrambling/packing tomorrow night.

We have to be on the road by 5:30a to get the airport. :scared1:

I hope my bottle of scotch will be waiting for me when we get there! :wizard:

I can deal with a little stressful running around if it means I'll be in Disney... if it only means I am one step closer to more running around, then forget it.

still 8 pages back...

We are scrambling to get ready. Have an hour to leave to do a couple of last minute things and get to the airport. Still need to pack.

Hope everyone has a great weekend. If I get Internet, I will check in just to make sure you guys are enjoying yourself. Signing off.

Have a great trip!

Look at what my DW found while setting up for our church's yard sale happening this Sat morning:

A little beat up, but I hear these guys are pretty rare...

Sweet. I'll give you 35 cents each? :confused3

Sweet. I'll give you 35 cents each? :confused3

:lmao: Well... there is another lady helping her set up the yard sale and she looked up the wrong lunchbox (1950's... this set is from the 70's)... they thought they could sell it for $300! Would be lucky to get $50 at a yard sale in that condition.

only 7 pages now... making progress!

Hey guys, I'm way behind and have no idea what is going on. If I missed anything of importance, let me know.

Spent the last 3 days in Gatlinburg with the in-laws. I considered trying to give Nate a holler to meet up, but I didn't have a vehicle and I was at the liberty of my MIL's schedule which is full and subject to change without notice.

I was sitting in the cabin Monday morning with my BIL and the kids watching TV and BS'ing. I saw FIL walk out the door, but everybody had been going outside to sit on the porch so I didn't think anything of it. About 5 minutes later he walked back into the cabin and asked us why we weren't in the van. :confused3 Apparently, we had plans to all go shopping :headache: and BIL and I were the last to get the memo.:sad2:

Aside from some scheduling issues and not as much free time as I'd liked to have had, it was a nice trip.:thumbsup2 :lmao:

Glad you had a nice trip, despite the shopping!!

:rotfl::lmao:

That's not nice. I know it's a competition and all, but hoping he gets the runs is just plain cruel.
.

:rotfl2:

I showed DW my receipt for 19.94 and asked her how much her hour at the spa cost. She dropped the subject, but I never did get an answer to that question.:rolleyes1

don't you love that? :lmao:

I've heard something else works, but this is a family board.

our doc was fond of saying, "you can get out of this mess the same way you got into it!"

6 pages to go...

:thumbsup2

Not exactly trouble. I could have just spent some more time sitting in the sun room relaxing. Like the whole time we were there. This is the view that my BIL and I were enjoying before we were told it was time to go shopping.

nice view!!

Just wanted to let you know that Barry is at the hospital with Bambi... Baby Ryder should be here soon!:goodvibes

popcorn:: this was yesterday... the suspense is killing me! (and I'm not even from Canada)

Got them:thumbsup2 A little note of interest I get to make a wish tomorrow, wonder what I should wish for:wizard: also will walk around the yard to see if I can step in the golden pile I have somewhere in the yard:rolleyes1

okay, you go do that. seriously, though... good luck!!

I let Barry post pictures but Bambi posted this on FB about 4 hours ago...

Ryder Ethan. Born March 29 at 6:50pm. 6 pounds 9 oz. 18 inches. Quick labor made for a rough start to his little life but he is doing well. He is perfect.

Have a great Friday and weekend gentlemen and best wishes to those of you in the lottery. If you need someone to mow your grass in Golden Oaks I may know someone willing to do it for a price :rolleyes1: I'll even make runs for Dole Whips for you.

$300 would have been a nice score! Can't believe I got outbid by that much! :rotfl2:

Well...in 24 hours, I'll be in the air my way. :cool1:

Thankfully, after my fiasco with Spirit, I was able to successfully print my boarding passes without any issue this morning. :thumbsup2

Now, if I can just get through the next 8 hours of work!

you can do it!!

Ahem… Hay, ummmm…. Guys
:wave2:

If perchance y’all remember me, ya’ know I use to be a regular around here. My employer, however, has decided that the situation calls for a marked increase in the level of beatings doled out until moral improves noticeably. Needless to say…
It’s been a rather miserable couple of weeks. I think I see a little (make that itsy-bitsy tintsy-weintsy little) bit of day light, but I’m not sure I ought to admit that out loud. I don’t want to bring down additional wrath upon my head and end up having to endure continued beatings. Obviously, I’ve missed a lot but I do see a number of very fine things are happening right about now.

Well, I probably need to get back to work before someone around here realizes that I’m not in quite enough pain to suite them. I’ll try to check back in later on.

Y’all have a great day (Ya’ hear).

Hope the beatings subside soon!!

Just popping in to say hi, and see what page y'all are up to. Not bad. 130 already. Kinda funny really, because there's another thread that I'm a part of regularly that yesterday I noticed they were a bit "in shock" because they're up to 226, and need to start thinking about who'll start the next iteration (I started the last one - it was like #7 of that particular on-going thread). But the pace is MUCH MORE leisurely... I had to go back and see when the thread was started and it was May 5, 2011. I had to laugh, thinking about how many threads have been gone through here since then... especially the special one on Leap Day. Too funny the differences you find on the DIS.

Anyway - just wanted to take a quick break from working on financials today, being the end of the quarter and all that. Hope you all are doing well. I'm now at 30 days til I am in the World once again. :thumbsup2 Looking forward to that visit.

Have a great day guys.

In New York and the W has great wifi. Will try to post some pictures later. Visited St. John's this morning. The Pirate Princess was meh about it. Seems the boys are the smart nerd type she has at her High School. Actually the biggest factor with her was it is a small campus with a lot of students that commute. Did see the BB arena which was neat (for me, not her).

As if there's something wrong with nerds...:sad2: :rotfl2:

First off – A very happy belated birthday wish goes out to Ryder!
Along with profuse amounts of congratulations to Barry and the rest of his family.

I see that HBDs are also in order for Ron and Aaron, so Happy Birthday to both of ya’.

Norm!!! Enjoy the sun down there on our little coast.
Wish I could head down that way, but stuff like that will have to wait a while yet.

STOPHER!!!!
Not sure - except that I've mentioned it on here several times, but never sent you a PM with the actual dates. But here you go... Apr 30 - May 3. OKW
ahh, being randall is not here. ill fill in for him. i dont think a pm to don would have mattered. :lmao:
So I mentioned before that I have a conference in May in Orlando, a few miles from WDW. Today I got the bright idea to try and get DW to come along for before it starts and spend a couple days in WDW, just the 2 of us. Seeing as we'd only need to pay for her airfair and 1 night hotel, the costs isn't too bad... Now if we can only find someone to take the 2 rugrats for a couple days...
when in may are you going??

Good Job guys! I have yet to get over there myself. I keep suggesting it to DW, but the idea usually gets shot down. I just want to be able to say I did it once.

A little beat up, but I hear these guys are pretty rare...

Very nice! I love that movie. One of a handful of disney animated features with an all animal cast!

Canceled Seton Hall visit for tomorrow and instead she will be going there on a sleep over with a student host on Sunday. The Pirate Princess might actually become a Pirate.

I missed NY. Then we went out for dinner last night and after I got the bill, Miami is looking better. That and I froze my behind off on the tour during a "nice day" here. NY is great place. Still miss it but probably would not move back.

an actual Pirate??? :rotfl2::lmao:

Have a great time!! (don't look at the numbers on the bill, just sign and wait until you get home to get depressed about it. at least you'll be warm then!)

okay... been crazy the last couple of days. very tired. job is still going well, despite dealing with some people who just don't get it. Problem is that I am essentially part-time with not a lot of say in things that get done before I arrive at work. It's frustrating to not be involved in the process and then try to get them to correct things last minute before the show.

Had a "different kind of day yesterday." Got very frustrated (probably from lack of sleep) and put my foot through a wicker laundry basket. Then, with the basket still stuck to my foot, I broke the baby gate because it got stuck and I gave it a very frustrated yank. Oops.

DS was upset and I was trying to calm him down and then I noticed he was wheezing. so off to the doctor we went and it looks like bronchitis. DS on albuterol because insurance won't cover xopenex anymore.

time to get ready for work... also time to weigh in to see how i did in Week 4 of shedding 40lbs...

Well, I guess you've got to look at it from the positive side of things. If other people are messing things up that you have to come in and fix at the last second, I guess that would be some job security. :thumbsup2 :lmao: I understand your frustration though.

Try not to take it out on anymore laundy baskets or baby gates.

i no longer have the lunch box but i do have my thermos from my first day of school. that would be sept 1970. sorry its a little fuzzy. its hard to read but it is a disney circus thermos.
