Thanks. The food and drink changes are easy, but am not sure if sustainable. Hopwfully, i can find sime long-term balance. As for the exercise, I played in high school and was in good shape in college. I went to UL and even played with Greg Minor in some pick up games when he was freshman. (He went pro for a few years but was most recognized for not paying child support.) Now, 12 years of marriage have just sucked the life out of me. It has been 8 consecutive days of 30 min exercise. That is a behavior I hope I can continue. I actually feel good, but still don't look forward to work out time.

Keep it up Norm. And please do not mention the name Greg Minor again. Was at his rookie debut and he scored a ton of points. Then he faded into oblivion.

Valid point. :lmao:

Have you seen the video though? Pretty impressive explosion. The camera angles they have didn't even have the truck in frame. You just see his car slide out of the bottom of the frame and then a huge fireball shoots up in front of the camera. It really made me think of your affinity for pyrotechnics.:lmao::rotfl2:

That was impressive. Thankfully no one was serious hurt.

On a side note, my fishing buddy died yesterday of his cancer. 10 days from diagnosis to final resolution..:sad1::sad1:

Really kind of tearing a bunch of us up...

We're towing our boats and leaving one rod on the deck for the funeral procession.

Sorry to hear the news. Great tribute.

That's really good. You're doing very well. With family around, I

Keep it up. After a few weeks that exercise becomes routine, and almost second nature. :thumbsup2

Really? I must not have that gene. :rotfl2:

No, but I do need to see it. You do have me pegged as far as pyrotechnics go. :thumbsup2

I was really sorry to hear that, Fed. I hope you can do his memory proud.

I (of course) dismissed her concerns, but when I got to work today and started counting my pin collection, I'm starting to see that she has a point. At current count, I have 117 Disney pins on my board at work.

We have one of those zipper folder books that they sell there in the pin shops. Each family member has their own pages, filled with pins. My eldest started the craze in our household. Then we all kind of caught it. It's died down though as the last time we went as a family, they took stuff to trade, and didn't really do that much. That phase lasted about 5 years for us. Expensive habit, even with buying them on ebay for "seed traders". I still buy them for myself, but they don't seem very interested anymore. Who knows, we'll see in July if they want to trade again or not while we're down there.

You guys have any doubles? If so we can set up a seperate thread and do some trading by mail. We ordered a bunch off ebay just for trading so we have a bunch of doubles.

I'm sure he was out on a lake all to himself at first light this morning and will be pulling in 6-7 pounders all day.;)

Michael, I am so Sorry.

There is only one race left in SC and that’s only because “NASCAR” hasn’t yet gotten around to a complete shameless honorless abandonment of their roots
(but it will happen… likely soon).

Like I said, racing is now about product placement… superspeedways… big market cities… television rights… and everything else that makes America look rather shallow and ugly at times.

We have plenty of small dirt tracks down this way though…
Come on down and I’ll take you out to an actual race.

I'll back him up on this (as a Native South Carolinian). A lot of southerners who grew up on NASCAR are a little fed up with the current sport since it went "Hollywood".

I grew up on the shorter non superspeedway tracks where you could "bump and run it" and where (cliche aside) "rubbin is racin". You gotta' have the superspeedways like Charlotte, Pocono, Daytona and Talladega...but places like California Speedway and Miami Homestead have the personality of a nun's habit.

With the restrictor plates, even the Superspeedways aren't a lot of fun. A few years ago, the drivers ran in Talladega all in one straight line as a protest. They changed some things but not enough.

Personally, I'd rather watch 20 Bristols, Darlingtons or Richmonds than one California.

And I'm not a NASCAR Fanatic. I just grew up on the sport (my grandfather was one of the original drivers for my great grandfather who was friends with the France's).

You gotta' be a TV personality anymore to even get by...though some of these guys are good wheel man.

How did Danica get that much coverage? Still all over ESPN this morning. Not that she's not a good driver, she is...and none of her problems this week were her fault, but it's about personlities.

How much play did Matt Kenseth get before he won?

Schools of 10 pounders as my buddy Kelly says:lmao:

There's no doubt...there's also no doubt, that if he could, he'd be calling me right now to let me know he was fishing while I was at work....he took great pleasure in doing that.:lmao::sad1:

Saw this on Facebook last night. Sorry for your loss. Seems that you lost a good friend. Those are hard to find.

That's a very cool tribute with the boats, but I can only imagine seeing a hearse followed by a bunch of trucks pulling bass boats... :rotfl:

you snoozed and dd won we are going to have to put you are bacon probation around here till you are quicker then your DD :lmao:

i have to agree and i eat salad the dressing was amazing there

i did not think so they gave us a salmon, steak and something else like turkey

Actually it was the "sad-eyes" look she gave me to won out. Audrey had handed me the bacon first. Garden Grill is always turkey, syeak and fish, I believe ours was tuna when we were there.

South Carolina should most definitely hold more than 1 race. One of my favorite tracks is located there.

I agree with you about the commercialization of the sport over the past few years. It is kind of ridiculous that sponsors determine who drives for which team. Although, I'm not a Busch fan, so the fact that Kyle temporarily lost sponsors and Kurt lost his ride really doesn't bother me much.:lmao:

And by the way, Indiana has it's share of dirt tracks. Where do you think Jeff Gordon and Tony Stewart honed their skills?

I grew up on the shorter non superspeedway tracks where you could "bump and run it" and where (cliche aside) "rubbin is racin". Totally agree... don't forget Texas, Kansas, Kentucky, Chicago, Las Vegas and Michigan.:sad2: Do they really think the fans want more cookie cutter tracks?

With the restrictor plates, even the Superspeedways aren't a lot of fun. A few years ago, the drivers ran in Talladega all in one straight line as a protest. They changed some things but not enough.
Restrictor plate or not, it kind of gets old watching them tinker with the cars every year to make the racing better... and while I wasn't a fan of the 2 car tandem draft that made it more of a team race and took away from the packs, it really made for more lead changes and better racing at the end than this new set up.

I miss the cars from the late 90's/early 2000's. Those were actually good restrictor plate races.

Personally, I'd rather watch 20 Bristols, Darlingtons or Richmonds than one California.
::yes::

Or a team owner's Grandson.

Although I think Dillon does have some potential.

I'm on the fence about her. Everybody seems to either love her or hate her. The media attention she gets puts her in a tough situation though. There's definitely got to be a learning curve, but with a camera on her at all times and everyone analyzing every move she makes, she isn't going to be given as much room to learn and grow as other guys who've come up the ranks. I don't envy her position, but I look forward to seeing what she can do. I just wish they'd focus on the leaders instead of keeping a camera on the 39th place car with 20 to go.

How much play did Matt Kenseth get before he won?
Matt who? :confused3 :rotfl2:

There in lays the problem. This IS what they think, and… their sales and ratings prove them right. For every fan of “driving” they loose, they gain 5 to 10 novice fans that don’t care about the race near as much as how cool the memorabilia looks when displayed down in their den.

It’s a little like the continued existence of tabloid journalism or the celebrity gossip mill… I may decry its existence, but someone’s out there buying the stuff in mass quantities.

Madison Avenue has “America” pegged. They actually do think we are stupid, they purposely treat us with contempt, and as a society we repeatedly prove them to be correct.

I don't know.....some of those races have REALLY LOW fan turnout. Buddy of mine says they're losing $$ on them...unfortunately, they alienated a lot of the old guard.

Gee, calling someone to rub it in that they are fishing and you're not, why does that sound familiar?:thumbsup2 <-----Take your pick!

I prefer to see racing up front and passes for the lead, not cautions.

So, no, I wasn't too impressed and I was kind of disappointed I stayed up so late to watch it.

I fell asleep watching them sweep the track. :lmao:

I'll be right there with you soon. My Christmas present this year was a treadmill. I have used it some but the apnea has left me with little energy to do it regularly. Hopefully after today I will be getting good rest and can hit the tread in the morning before work. I find when I can regularly work out it actually helps me to eat better too.

Sorry to hear this. I can't think of much else to say (on this board anyway) other than 'That SUCKS!' Who knows why these things happen. I'm sure he is in a better place. It's great that you will be giving him such a fitting tribute.
