DIS Dads DDC XVII - Leap year edition

It will probably be an adults only trip for a couple weeks, and we'll need all the points for a combined stay. I'd love to do a drive out west, see Grand Canyon and anything else along the way, fly over to Hawaii, and drive back. But, I'm not sure how dds will do with that long of a road trip.

We're doing a Disney Cruise next year. I would like to do WDW for a MVMCP. Then, maybe Aulani and DL.

But, that is a 2000 mile one way drive.

Commando (Ron) - I've looked at your plan, and have an idea.

I can't tell what days you will be where, as you've only posted Day 1 - 3.

Assuming Day 1 is Sunday, then Day 3 is Tuesday Aug 21st.

On Day 3 - you said you are going to get to DHS for Rope Drop, and then signing up for Jedi Training. We are going to be doing the same thing that day, what if we meet up early, and do JTA together. It will give the kids a chance to play together as well - and with lightsabers...

UP ownage.

The only thing I didn't like about UP is that he doesn't return to the house at the end. The handicap parking and eating ice cream is funny, but I was hoping he would get to see his lifelong dream fulfilled.

It is 13-14 hours for us to get to WDW from here. That is leaving here around 4:00 PM and arriving at 6:00 AM the next morning. I'm guessing 3 or more days of travel time, depending on how much site seeing or stopping we want to do. Then, a week in DL and a week in Aulani. So, if taking the dds, it would be a summer trip for 3 weeks. I have the vacation time, but unfortunately, DW won't let us abandon the cat, so that trip is postponed as long as the cat is around. So, that might end up being a much later trip or a couple's only trip when the dds are out of the house. Then, it may just be a flight.

Yep. It is Crash's graduation trip. Definitely a splurge but she has worked hard so I thought why not.

Don't think I've mentioned this before, but I think your relationship with your daughter is really cool. I still have a long way to go and am not sure what things will be like when they are 18. I worry about the future, i.e., am I too hard on them now, and how that relationship will be in the future. I left home at 19, only because I couldn't find someone to lease me an apartment (I could afford) until then. I visit my parents and talk to them once a week, but we don't have a great relationship, and they are not involved at all in their grandchildrens' lives.
