Keep it over your way. We like the sun! I am predicting peach bud break on Thursday if the weather holds the way the forecast shows. If we stay warm it would be a great peach year but we could turn cold and lose the crop. Apples I don't care about. I'm going to hit them hard with thinner since I don't have the labor to get them picked.

We have Reid's Orchard here that grows peaches, apples, corn, etc. They sell and ship and have a little store set up on the property. When you go in the store, you can buy some freshly grown, homemade apple slushy. The machine is right there in front of you (not self-serve). I'm not a huge fan of apples, but that slushy is killer. I agree with you about the peaches. The ones they grow are absolutely amazing. I will buy fruit from the grocery store, but never peaches. If Reid's peaches aren't in season, then it's no peaches. They are amazing.

Staycation update.

I did two loads of laundry and emptied/ ran/ emptied the disher. In our house, DW believes the dishwasher and sink are where you store dishes, not in the cupboards adjacent to the sick. I need to go back to work where I can work less.

And, I waitlisted studio LV at BLT for DW. There were days missing. If the waitlist doesn't go through in 15 days, then my orders are to secure a stay at one resort in one studio room for the entire trip - no split stays permitted.

I think I might see if she would like to do vero beach for a couple days before we go into BLT. The story continues .....

True, but since I was kind of a "support outpost" in Toronto, I was able to join the rest of the team in Raleigh, buy a house for 150K here that would be 450 to 600K in Misissauga, and the best part....if I hit three green lights I am only 5 minutes from house to office:drive:

Housing is nuts there, my uncle bought a place in Etobicoke 10 years ago, paid 750K for it then had to put 300k into it just to "make it livable". pretty much the only way a family can move into a home there is to inherit one.

When my Grandfather turned 70 he decided to sell his house that he'd lived in for 50 years, he bought it for $13,000. It was in Scarborough and appraised for 900K. Over his life he did VERY well for himself so he told the real estate agent to find a couple with at least 2 kids who had been looking for a house and couldn't afford anything in the area. After meeting with a couple he told them he was selling them the house for 250K:eek:. He told them he just wanted to make sure a family would have it and be able to grow in a good neighbourhood.

Brent, while I agree housing is ridiculous, there are definitley cheaper places the you are mentioning.

Townhomes, semis, etc... From 350k.

Especially as a starter until you can build collateral and trade up.

In fact I have a friend who was trying to sell a 4 year old townhome at Islington and Finch. He was asking in the high 200's, and couldn't sell as his neighbors were selling for less.

12 years later and I'm still in my starter home. If i can't retire to WDW in another decade, this will be my final home.

You could be like me and built a brand new house in 2005 and be in the soup about $50,000 on it! :cool1:

I don't think we'll be moving any time soon.

I was fortunate to be able to build our house before we got married and it now appraises for over 300k. Our house payment is less than I could rent a house for. I dont think we will be leaving anytime soon! LOL

Hey guys.

Been a busy day today. Started out working on the website some more, then working through 3 different bookings, and some upcoming marketing for events that I'm quasi-sponsoring. Plus planning for tomorrow's luncheon with the Chamber of Commerce. Thursday is a new networking group that I've joined. Exciting stuff is going on, that's for sure.

I've also identified a couple of cruises that I'm looking to offer as a group booking. I'll have more info on that later.

I'm really bummed that I missed out on the DCL TA offer cruise in May - I missed it by just about 5 mins the lady told me when I called to make my reservation. Those things sell out so very fast. Oh well, next time I'll try again. In it's place I was offered the opportunity for a different type of trip with a different provider, so I might be going to WDW in March now. Trying to determine the details still. I've been saying I need a Florida fix for a while now, and here it just might be. :cool1: if it all works out.

Working on dinner, and getting ready for multiple meetings tonight - have to get 3 people in 3 different directions at pretty much the same time... fun, fun, fun! Plus it's DW's birthday tomorrow - so have to get something at the store for DD, who of course can't drive herself there... what a fun evening it will be.

I have no complaints. This was a builders subdivision, and we had our house built in 2000. It is a concrete slab, 3 Bed, 2 BA, Bonus room, 1550 sq feet, and 2 car garage. We bought it for 115K and pay taxes on 135K. My town in KY has done well with the housing market. We bought it big enough for our family and don't plan on moving. It should be paid off in 8 more years.

Anyone else see this article on Disney's Golden Oak Community?

Nice job Norm on the design and decorating of the Disdad guest house

Is the economy there the same way it is here? I think about moving to FL everyday, but since I have a job here (well, a couple of them), I'm extra scared now.

A wonderful example of giving. Bravo.

Too much cheese.

You found my future retirement home, once I hit the lottery. I think that is the DDC guest house you see in those pictures. Remember folks, my nemesis gets first stay, then I don't know how the line forms from there.

I don't plan on staying for more than three or four years :thumbsup2

I'm thinking of calling and upgrading to a preferred room at Coronado... worth it? Thoughts?

Sorry to hear you missed the cruise. It sounded great.

Never been to Coronado, but be careful, upgrading to a Moderate was what convinced us to buy DVC. We stayed at CBR and haven't been back to a value (or moderate) again.

I already have CSR booked. Usually we are in the value price range. Just so happens that CSR was less than POP the week we looked. We are a few years from dvc or a deluxe....
