I didn't request anything specific... upgrading was under 200.00.

In the scheme of how much you're spending on the vacation, that is not all that much. I love the DVC resorts for their location, but only do the studio rooms, and if I can call early enough, the standard view.

Another question: online check in or wait?

We wait to check in in person, but we arrive at 6:00 AM in the van. There isn't a big line.

If you are doing ME and arriving off plane with bunches of others, then online check in may work. I don't know.

Is the economy there the same way it is here? I think about moving to FL everyday, but since I have a job here (well, a couple of them), I'm extra scared now.

Oh it's the same here. Scary as hell. DW should be able to find somethingm she's a legal assistant/secretary/paralegal working for a lawyer who deals with real estate transactions

After making my ADR's for next August, it got me reflecting as to where I have already eaten, so I started putting together my list of TS restaurants that I have tried at WDW.

I believe this is all of them, but I may be missing one or two, will have to check with DW to see if she can recall any others....

Chef Mickeys (Breakfast)
1900 Park Fare (Breakfast)
Big River Grille & Brewing Works (I think - unless it was re-themed, we did the microbrewery at Boardwalk in 1998)
Planet Hollywood
Rainforest Animal Kingdom
Crystal Palace
Cinderella's Royal Table
Le Cellier
Les Chefs De France
Teppan Edo
Yak and Yeti
Boma
Hollywood and Vine
Sci Fi Dine in Theatre
Mama Melrose

Haven't been to yet, but made ADR's this morning for:
Kona Cafe
Liberty Tree
50's Prime Time
Tusker House (Breakfast)
T-Rex
Via Napolli

Good list

Brian, that is true about townhomes etc, it is possible, but for the same amount, a bigger home out of the city would be nice

Last trip, i didn't do online chck-in, and noticed the line at the POP moved no faster then the on-line one did.

one benefit I noticed was while checking in, we asked to confirm our room had a fridge added, we use it for left overs, milk etc, no issues paying for it. The woman at the check in who was training a new CM asked "Oh, this is for medical reasons, right?" Well, DW has dealt with gestational diabetes in the past and has had it, but currently not on insulin, so we said, no not time. The CM just smiled at us and said "but you NEED IT for medical reasons, RIGHT?" In other words, play along, no charge (I know they've cut the charges now completely). It was a nice bit of magic though.

TS done:

Cinderella's Castle (Breakfast)

Liberty Tree (old character dinner)
Plaza Restraunt (lunch
Biergarten
Chefs de France
Akershus (breakfast)

San Angel Inn
Coral Reef
Prime Time Cafe
Holywood and Vine (breakfast)
Sci-Fi Dine-In
Tusker House (breakfast)
Chef Mickey's (dinner)

It shouldn't be that way. 10 more years and I'm eligible for retirement.

At 6:00 AM, there is no line.

I've also identified a couple of cruises that I'm looking to offer as a group booking. I'll have more info on that later.
Interesting.... :surfweb:

I'm really bummed that I missed out on the DCL TA offer cruise in May - I missed it by just about 5 mins the lady told me when I called to make my reservation. Those things sell out so very fast.
Say it ain't so! :sad2:

What a bummer!

I have no complaints. This was a builders subdivision, and we had our house built in 2000. It is a concrete slab, 3 Bed, 2 BA, Bonus room, 1550 sq feet, and 2 car garage. We bought it for 115K and pay taxes on 135K. My town in KY has done well with the housing market. We bought it big enough for our family and don't plan on moving. It should be paid off in 8 more years.
I really wish I didn't live in the North East. For what I paid for our 1700sqft ranch (300K) in 2005, I could be living LARGE somewhere else in the country.:eek:

Patiently waiting for 6 a.m. when I catch a ride to the Airport!!!!!

MCO for the WIN!

(side note: Did i hear that if you do the DVC tour, you can get a free dinner coupon? Or did someone make that up?)
that's nice!!!! Have a great trip!! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

This was a little disturbing to see that there are stats on the DisDads.

:scared1::scared1:

They have me listed as an "author".:rotfl::rotfl:

They also have my avatar, except they made it look uglier.
Yes, your avatar is looking a little wide... :rolleyes1:rolleyes1:rolleyes1 :rolleyes1:rolleyes1

That could change:confused3 My last contract you could retire after 30 years (would bring me at 49) and you would collect 75%, now you have to be 55 with 30 years in and you will collect 26.5% it goes up every year till you hit 100% at 62.

You would think they would want to get rid of the guys making the most, but it turns out they want to keep you around since the Talent out there is slim:confused3, the age group I am in is the last of The Old School group, we know how to get the job done no matter what, the newer guys only know the one way:eek:

I'm still trying to get out at 49, without a pension till I'm 62, but I am now starting to look for other things I can do that I might like to do for around 13 years:confused3

That is so true it is scary.

My wife likes watching real estate shows on cable and seeing the housing prices in other areas of the country. I can't watch them because I get too depressed.

To the Maple Leaf fans in the house, from a huge Devils fan, that was a tough way to lose.

For those who didn't watch, the Leafs tied it at 3 with their goalie pulled and about 40-45 seconds left. The Devils won it in OT on a weak shot from the point that was going wide of the net but the Leaf goalie re-directed it in between his legs. A real bad goal. At least the Leafs salvaged a point, I guess.

For that price, you could have had the same size house with 12 acres of land here in my county. If you lived 30 miles east in the next county, you could have had the same with 36 acres. I begged DW to move to the county. She wanted to live in the city limits. As usual, guess who won that?

Don't bring me down. We are locked in right now. Yes, they could make changes, but all the ones they have made thus far are to the new people hired. Currently, I can retire at 49 and draw my full pension and retirement. I am in KY Teacher's Retirement System. But, since I am technically considered staff, I still pay into social security. At 49, my house will be paid off and I'll 1 entering college. My current benefits package includes free college tuition (at my university) for one child. So, I can get 6 years of tuition between my two children (unless one of them waits). So, I will stick it out for those years as well.

My DW likes to watch them and say 'See, we SHOULD move to Florida!'

Yes, it was a bummer. But that's life. I've known how quickly those TA specials sell out for a while. There was one back in December that I really wanted to go on, but alas, it was sailing from LA to Mexico on the day I was driving from Ft. Lauderdale up to Orlando. So back then I figured, next time... and now once again I'm saying... next time. I wanted it to fulfill the 7+ night cruise requirement for my CLIA certification, but that's okay. There'll be more opportunities down the pike. I'm working on the other aspects that I need, and then when the right time comes, I'll get it knocked off the list as well. But man oh man, the price sure couldn't be beat!
