DIS Dads DDC XV - We put the "FUN" in dysfunctional! Christopher's thread...

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.

Morning gentlemen. We have DD's 4th birthday party today. The entire house is Disney Princess themed. We are on pink overload right now.

I will be going out for more alcohol for the adults, just to be safe. :thumbsup2

Hi Paul, do you want me to do a birthday post for your DD?

Birthday post Ownage!

Morning all…

I’m happy to report that both storms have left our “fair” state. With the clouds dissipating, the rain has come to an end, and with the polls now closed, the wind is starting to die down as well.
:lmao:

Now, I may just be able to turn on my television for the first time in nearly two weeks.
:sad2:

Mornin' Fellas!

Wish I was waking up somewhere warm with something fun to do all day. I understand that there are a couple of football games on today though.

Happy Birthday to your DD Paul :cool1::cool1:

Morning Gents - :surfweb:

With all this talk of power outages and snow, thought I'd stock up on this.

Our audition expedition went well yesterday.

:car:

We made it down to Lexington with just enough time left for Max to get warmed up and go in for his audition. Afterward he said that he felt very good about the various prepared requirements, but wasn’t as pleased with the site reading.

(If you’re unfamiliar with that term, it’s where they will set a piece of sheet music down in front of you, give you 30 seconds to look it over and then have you play it cold… they purposely pick a tough piece with odd times, in difficult keys and less common direction words… it’s like the “Kobayashi Maru” test… They don’t expect you to do well… their looking for how well you can dig yourself out of the cesspool they just tossed you in)

Anyway… we’ll see if it was good enough to take a spot in the All-State honors band. Should have an answer by Monday.

Either way it was a nice junket. We all took the drive, then stopped for lunch at Fuddruckers (a post audition tradition… no since in tempting fate).

On the way home I made a detour into our Capital just to drive around a bit before heading home.

(cellphones don’t take very good pictures)

Max is thinking about applying to the music department at USC (our school is older… we get to call it that), so I figured I’d drive him around downtown an let him get a look at what may be home in the near future (pocketbook permitting).

I suspect that counts as a mini-TR… sorry for inflicting on y’all.

Happy Lunar New Year, fellas! It's now the year of the dragon! :figment:

I know bacon and burgers are highly celebrated on this thread but personally I put cake in that group as an equal.

The electon cycle should be shortened to two months for the entire process. It's not like they are doing whistle stop tours anymore. It's so hard to watch the news.

I can't beleive I am saying this but, GO RAVENS!

We're pulling for him!:thumbsup2

This just in...

Tim Horton coffee cups to become BIGGER to compete with the likes of the US coffee market.

http://www.theglobeandmail.com/life...rge-coffee-to-get-even-larger/article2304066/

Personally, I am ok with that... but that may NOT be a good sign of things to come.

I have a love hate relationship with Tim Hortons. I love ther coffee and get it all the time but I can't beleive that it is not standard opperating procedure to put a sleve on the paper cup. They always try to hand you a steaming hot cup of coffee that you will be holding as you drive with out a protective sleeve! You only get it if you ask for it. That's like handing someone a knife blade side first. Just put the darn $0.02 sleeve on my $1.70 coffee. I would be ok with paying $1.72 as long as I wouldn't have to ask for it every time.:confused3

We would love to see you. I have been thinking of heading to Chicago for a weekend maybe we could meet there.:thumbsup2

That could be fun.

Let me know if you guys do this. I promise I won't take you to Lou's for Pizza. :rotfl2:

Hope everyone has a great Sunday. I'm miserable with stuffed up sinuses but at least we have nowhere to be today so hopefully this will pass quickly.

Happy Lunar New Year, fellas! It's now the year of the dragon! :figment:

I’ll have to let my brother know that it’s his year again (of course it also means he’s aged 12 years since the last occurrence).

Happy Lunar New Year to you as well.

I second that proposal and say that we call for an immediate voice vote.
All in favor…

We're pulling for him!:thumbsup2

Thanks… I appreciate that.
I’ll let Max know that folks are keeping him in mind.

BTW… that was a fabulous picture you posted of your little girl.
(I’d repost it, but response is rather slow and it would be too hard to find right now. Feel free to do it for me).

Ugh, what a weekend.

I've got a toothache that's gotten the left side of my face swollen. It's not too bad, but it's just annoying-painful enough that it's just putting me off this entire weekend, I just don't feel like doing anything. And of course, since I have state Medicaid, no dentist wants to take us. :sad2: So I deal.

Making things even better, DD has been on a hyperactive stubborn tear all weekend, and because of my toothache, my patience is thin already. I may just go back to bed and let DW deal with it....

I know it's been discussed before but we should have a midwest meet in chicago sometime. :thumbsup2

Hope you feel better soon.

I can empathize. I am still recovering from mine last saturday.
