How has everyone been? Have you missed me or even noticed I have not been here?
Just needed to vent a little bit. some of you may recall how Ethan was struggling in school this year and how we had talked to the teacher multiple times with no real consistant positive results. We were just glad to have the school year end, and decided to get him a reading tutor for the summer and see if she can help him. Well, today was his first session with one of the interventionalists at the school and his is dyslexic!! No wonder the poor kid has sturggled so much!! He has to have more testing next week to see what type of dyslexia ( I dint know there was more than one type) and how severe it is! I wish we had known this sooner for his sake. I had wondered about the possibilty but thought if there was a problem like that the school would have picked up on it. I guess not!![]()

Steve, I hope it works out for Ethan. I suffer from a mild version of dyslexia and it can be a struggle at times. I am sure with you and your wife's support he will get through this. By the way, just curious, is he left handed?
DW was not diagnosed until high school. And, her teachers made her sit on her left hand and learn to write with her right hand. Yeah school system. My oldest is left handed, but no signs yet. DW struggles with her numbers at times.
Good luck to Ethan.

I too, am a convert to right handeness.
wow. will be praying for ethan steve. i hope it works out for him. keep on them. i know the laws are different from state to state but briana had an iep through most of her school days. we had to fight like crazy but once we got her in the program, she did fine. her last 2 years of high school, she didnt even use it and now in college, she no longer has it or needs it. just needed the tools to learn how to work with it and today, shes a 3.8. even cramming her last college english course in this summer.keep us posted.

How did you know?![]()
It is funny that you mention that...when he first started to write he used his left hand a lot but mostly his right now. When he plays baseball you never know if he is going to swing left or right handed...honestly I dont think he knows ahead of time either, but he can hit either way! Is there a correlation of dyslexia and being left hand dominant?
thats why im bald today!!!!!

I was told by my DD's pediatrician it is more common in left handed people.
I had no idea....The lady did ask Shari if either of us was dyslexic and she told them that he was adopted and she told us that more than likely one of his biological parents was dyslexic and had trouble reading.
