Wow... 2500 posts. On New Year's Eve. On my daughter's birthday. Seems I am obligated to give a small speech... now where did that soap box go?

Uh hem... 2500 days from now would be the date Sunday, November 4, 2018. By that date Emma will be 15... getting ready to turn 16 :scared1: I'm pretty sure she will be a good driver... aggressive, but good :thumbsup2

Rewinding 2500 days puts us at Friday, February 25, 2005. Here is a picture of DD from then:

Crazy. Life keeps moving on. I look back in 2011 and see milestones passed, tragedies unfold, and countless blessings given not just to me, but to our family as a whole. Having you guys around makes it easier to share in each of these.

Here's to an awesome 2012! :cool1::dance3::yay: Unless the Mayans are correct, then it's the worst year EVER! :lmao::lmao:

Bravo! Well said Sir! Happy Birthday Emma!

Well, it happened. The worst thing ever (not counting the Mayans),

a boy called my daughter on the phone. :scared1:  :scared1:  :scared1:  :scared1: :sad1:

Now, there are a two neighbor boys that stand on the sidewalk in front of the house in the AM and compete to walk my daughter to the bus stop. But, I was not ready for the phone call. For her 10th birthday, she was wanting a tablet so we bought her the Kindle Fire (since DW likes it so much). Now, she's talking about having an email and Facebook account. Ahhhhhhhh!

And the flood gates are open... first the phone calls, then a movie, a school dance... then I don't wan't to see your face with what comes next.

My daughter told me she wants an iPhone. I told her she could have one..... when she get's a job, and can pay the monthly bill.

She also told me she wants a Facebook account, because one of the kids in her class got one. I haven't set that up for her yet... but on that topic - how do other Dad's feel about their kids having a FB account? What age? Do you monitor? How do you monitor it?

Morning guys, and a happy New Year's Eve to all.

Morning all! It's DD's 9th birthday today! :woohoo: Having an indoor pool party at the oceanfront... with about 20 other girls her age :scared1: Can't believe she is 9 already!

Happy birthday to Emma. Be careful, they grow like weeds. Also a happy day to Phillip.

Morning guys...gettin ready to head to Ethans basketball game this morning...hope he makes a lot of points eventhough I am bribing him wiht 1 buck a point LOL:rotfl2: This is the last game I will get to see since I am on call for the last game of the season for him...:sad1:

A year ago today I was admitted to the hosital and so far...knock on wood....nothing seems to point in that direction...If I can just make it to midnight then 2012 might be looking up health wise here!!!:thumbsup2

Who is rooting for Ethan to score 50?

I feel your pain and celebration. A year ago today I was set free from the hospital. It was a crazy year getting back. Here is to good health for all of us.

Who is rooting for Ethan to score 50?

I think Ethan needs to sit down with both teams before the game and explain - "If you guys let me score 120 points - pizza is on me".

Then stop just short of 120 and pocket the ca$h.

Great photos and I agree with the sentiments.

I don't want to talk about what comes next.

As for the phone, we have an extra cell phone (no internet or texting) added on the family plan for both dds to use if needed. We will add a 4th when the younger one gets older. If they want an Iphone or data plan, they have to have a job to pay for the additional services.

As for Facebook, she says that EVERYONE in her class has one. DW and I said that when the tablet gets here, then we would sign her up on FB with the condition that she shares her password for us to monitor.

Must be teaching her to fart and burp didn't work as planned.

We still have dial up at home so no concerns about the kids wanting FB. As long as you get to see all they post and who they are friends with I would say 12 or 13 and limit the time allowed on it. Childhood goes by too quickly to have them stuck in front of a computer all the time.

Hey Norm, is it going to be the Blue or the Red that takes bragging rights today?

I use this shirt. Keeps the boys in check.

DD has had a FB account for a few years. It is kind of inevitable. We talked about keeping things private and the problems with the Internet. She is good about it. Her classmates also use it to talk about homework and questions they have with classes. As to the I Phone, I told her she could get one when she goes to college.

From a matchup standpoint, UK has more talent. And, given that UK beat UNC and UL lost to Georgetown, it would seem that UK is more prepared against tougher opponents. But, when it comes to in state rivalry games, there is no telling. I've seen both teams win when they shouldn't have. But, the pick this year is UK. There is just way too much talent to overcome.

I've seen that shirt before, but it is not effective on the phone call. I've thought of cleaning my shotgun on the first date pickup.

I'm not worried about that part. My oldest is in dance 3 days a week and may pick up another next year. My youngest is in whatever sport is in season at the time. Plus, they enjoy being outside.

I think Ethan smells a triple double :thumbsup2

Just get a truck with an 8ft bed and let them know you could transport a body and no one would ever know!

A Dis Dads point shaving scandal :scared1: that's all we need :lmao:

Have to root for the SEC team always. Florida/UK games this year should be interesting. Even though we lost to Rutgers last night.

Cleaning the shotgun would work. Because I am Italian, I prefer a Louisville slugger as an intimidation device.
