Nope - figured it out.

It wasn't the smoke detector afterall.

It was the carbon monoxide detector right beside it.

It got unplugged.... :sad2:
:scared1: I'd check that out...

Actually, I've had similar experience with hard wired smoke detectors though. They have a battery back up in them and they'll beep like that if the battery is low, just like any other smoke detector. Is the CO detector hard wired too?

CO detector is a plug in model.

It came loose, and wasn't plugged in.

After plugging it in, it reset itself - and stopped beeping. :thumbsup2

I feel like a knob... :lmao:

Gotta love when the most obvious solution is the correct one! Happens to the best of us!

Prayer ownage.

Friends of friends driving from San Diego and have been FBing about keeping ahead of the storm. Prayers for all driving and living in those areas.

Ditto. Some bad weather out there tonight. Be safe!

I just can't seem to unwind enough to sleep tonight. I really need this long weekend that's coming up.

I didn't realize the Griswolds moved to the San Francisco bay area. I'm glad they were able to finish the game before Clark got Santa plugged back in.

Good morning guys :thumbsup2

I know it is not sundown yet, but Happy Hannukkah to all who celebrate it.

The 26th is off for at least the financials and I'm sure many others. Commuter lots should be pretty vacant. The 27th should be doable but definitely not as good as 26th. It helps to get to the lots early. The PATH is awesome for getting in/out of the city quickly though! Since i live on Long Island, not sure which Jersey station would be best though. By me, lots are full by 7:30.

Thanks Lee. It looks like we'll be doing NYC on the 26th.

Casey, how are you doing? Hearing a lot of news from your corner of the World. :scared1:

Doing fine. Haven't been around for a couple days since I was on a business trip in Incheon (closer to the North Korean border..:lmao:).

Found out the news about Kim Jong Il when we were on lunch yesterday. A few people were worried, mostly my younger co-worker who was afraid he'd have to suit up for the military (required for all Korean males), but other than that, and the fact that it's been covered on the news a bit and every single newspaper has it as a headline, everything is normal over here.

I called my wife last night to find out her reacting. She was happy. I think a lot of people are over here. I also think a lot of people are just curious as to what will happen next. Kim Jong Un (his son and who he chose to be his successor) is quite young and inexperienced, so it will be interesting to see what happens.

While you had it unplugged, did you check the expiration date on it?

***Friendly reminder to all Dads!*** Please remember to replace your CO detectors periodically as well. They have a life expectancy. If the are passed that date, they are USELESS to your families.

Our department reminds everyone to check the date, EVERY time, you change the batteries in your smoke detector.

In retrospect you should have no problem parking either day (wasn't thinking of the week, since it's between both holidays)

Anyhow, I'll miss you on the 26th (enjoying my day off) but if you decide to switch to 27th I work across the street from Rockefeller Center :)

Either way hope you have a great time!

On another note, Good Morning all! On the train with a special package in tow :)

Hope everyone's days go well!

Lee

A mechanical machine has no business depending on a computer to tell it how to work. All they do is take a perfectly good, working machine and make it junk.

Crud. Beverly. Peanut Butter.

That is all...

I seem to have more problems with smoke detectors. Mine are hardwired as well but, no matter how often I change the batteries, one seems to always want to beep.

But on the other hand, the one in the kitchen can always tell when it's dinner time! :lmao:

‘Morning all…
I’ve gotten myself into a somewhat better frame of mind, and I credit y’all with the attitude adjustment (well… that and having gotten away form work for the afternoon and spending the time with my girl).

Thanks…
:grouphug:

Now my wishes for the day (just because it’s quicker then multi-quoting at this time :rolleyes1)…

May our electronic detectors and computerized mechanical devices, give us fewer problems…

May those that are traveling arrive safely at their destinations without too much interference from either nature or fools…

May our unpredictable (and often unstable) neighbors the world over, find insightful and more inclusive paths toward their futures during their times of change and transition…

And may all peoples that are taking stock of their lives as we approach major end of year celebrations and remembrances of all types find peace in their worlds and openness in their thoughts and deeds.

That is all…

Will be curious about your perspective. We get what the media prints - slanted for their advertisers - and not the actual real story. YEsterday, I heard comments that North Korea was attacking the USA. We also have some real idiots in Indiana.

To someone way smarter than I, do I need a CO detector? I do not have a basement.

There's a great sign in one of the Deleware Rest Areas on the drive up from the Outer Banks that posts the yearly deaths from fire in homes with and without smoke detectors.

Mornin' guys....

Started off my day leaving my wallet and watch at home!:scared1:

I guess I was too distracted about getting my kids dressed and out the door that I forgot about myself.

At least I didn't choose two different shoes to wear like someone I know (eh hemm Chris eh hemm).

:thumbsup2

Well, I read an article saying the NK shot off two short ranged missles on Monday (the day Kim Jong Il was announced as being dead), but, honestly, that's nothing really out of the ordinary.

In the almost 4 years I've lived in South Korea, North has done a couple feeble attempts at attacking us (the most prominent being last year and the year before, when they shelled a barely inhabited island in the northern Yellow Sea, and sinking a South Korean Navy ship, in the same sea), but none of those attempts started anything.

I suppose there's always been a bit of a threat that something will break out, but nothing ever really amounts to anything.

Although, I'm sure if there was a Korean equivalent of Fox News, there would be panic in the streets non-stop. (Granted, one of the major tv channels here is owned by the government, but they aren't overtly biased, as far as I can tell)

In other words, my wife and I aren't afraid that anything substantial will happen in the near future.

Thanks for the reminder. I'll be checking mine when we get home.

My smoke detectors are hard wired with a battery backup. They chirp (which freaks our dog out.) if the battery in them gets low. They also have the magical ability to only start chirping if it is between 2 and 4 am and we don't have any 9 volt batteries in the house.

I did... The smoke detector 1s almost 10 yrs old.

The CO detector - is about 7 yrs.

Time to replace all the smoke detectors in the house.
