DDA's New Year's Weight Loss accountability Thread

Great job, Deb!

I dragged Kyle outside yesterday for a 40-minute walk, even though both of us felt like we were going to explode from eating too much! Once I calculated what I had written down, we really hadn't gone over our maintenance calories, but we just aren't used to eating as much as we did yesterday! My family came over for a kick-off party though, so it also could have been much worse!

Today I did 5 miles, and I'm happy to say I only walked about 0.8 miles of it! Sometimes I was even doing an 11-minute pace!!! I shocked even myself, but my motivation was this -- "The more (and faster) you run, the faster this is done"! :rotfl:

Have a good evening everyone!

I think that I have convinced Chris to do Weight Watchers with me. He has seen how much I'm able to eat and the WW snacks. Atkins is all meat and cheese for him. It's been tough trying to make meals for him and meals for the rest of us so If he switches it will be much easier at mealtime.

Deb

Good for you Jenn..an 11 minute mile is awesome. You have this half marathon thing in the bag.

I am glad your hubby is jumping on board with WW Deb, that will make things so much easier for you.

I am sick, sick, sick today. It's weigh in day so I guess I won't be going to my meeting since I didn't go to work. I haven't missed in a while. So no "official" loss for me this week.

Have a great week everybody.

Ohhhhhhhhh only 80 days til I leave for my trip.........gotta loose some more so I can accomplish my great dress goal for the cruise. Kickin' my own butt into higher gear here (after I get over this darn virus :guilty: ).

I had not posted on this thread in a while so since things are getting back to normal in my life I decided it was time to come here and put things back to where they belong too!

Tuesday is weigh-in day for me. I lost another 1.4 pounds this past week so that makes a total of 64.4 pounds lost since January 16. I have not been able to do my traditional exercise of walking because it is just too darned dark in the mornings now. But I have been doing some weight training and moving around in the house, as well as extra dancing in a new class I am teaching. So, I figure until I find a treadmill that will work for now.

With that in mind, if anyone hears of any place having a sale on exercise equipment (treadmills in particular) please let me know.

Good work getting more exercise and better eating habits everyone. Keep it up! :goodvibes

My brother still wont let me work out--i know hes right, but its killing me when i WANT to work out (and that is sooo not like me!) I am not using this as an excuse--i am still doing crunches and other things that wont hurt my leg,,i am watching what i eat and upping my water intake...so this isnt going to stop me :)

Jen. That's the way to keep a positive attitude Keep up the good work.

I have 1 wk of ww under my belt and I am happy to report a loss of 1.4 lbs. I am happy with that as I weighed in wearing jeans as opposed to the shorts I wore last week and I had my keys in my pocket :thumbsup2 Now I'll get Chris onboard and it will make life so much easier.

Congrats on the weight loss, Deb!!! That's fantastic! Here's hoping that Chris will join in!

Good for you, Deb! You must be delighted with yourself. :)

Jen -- good attitude. That will help you maintain if nothing else! :)

So I'm down another 3 pounds. I am so close to being under 200 pounds, it isn't funny. :rotfl2: At the Dr.'s that is what I weighed but I am using my scale and I am not there yet but I will be soon. :thumbsup2 I just gotta keep on :cool1: :cool1: :drinking: and moving and eating healthy.

Hey! Steffy's here!!!! Welcome!!!! I'm so glad you found us! WW sounds like the perfect plan for you! There are a lot of others here on WW, so you should find some great support! I won't pretend to understand the program, but I'll cheer you on every pound of the way!!!!!

Thanks Glynis. I need some support tonight....

When I am hungry and need something sweet,
sugar free jello made my list of what not to eat.....

My mouth has this taste in it that begs some candy... But I have not a grain of candy in the house. So I'm drinking water....

I need to get to bed. This is my first bad night....

Nitey, nite..

That is my first goal, to have my weight begin with a "1".....

:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Just popped in to cheer you all on :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

I just decided to try the new light version of my soya milk... it tastes a bit wierd but I think I can get used to it - our supermarket never has the full fat version in stock but there's always plenty of the light stuff available... plus it has added fibre and vitamin C in it... and best of all half the calories of the normal stuff... I worked out I can cut over 800 calories a week just by switching to this milk!! I have no idea what that means but it sounds a lot!

I mentioned to my friend at work that I was trying to lose weight and she went mad at me! I said I wanted to get back in my size 10 clothes (UK) and she said that when I fitted in them last year I looked too thin and a few people had commented on it...

I keep forgetting that I got that thin because I was ill with lactose intolerance and IBS, and that I have that under control now... it's just depressing that I spent so much money on clothes I can't fit into anymore!

So I'm going to stick to the excercise to tone up my muscles and keep me healthy and stop worrying about the weight :)

It's been a while since I've posted on this thread. I can barely keep up with the DDA thread! I just wanted to pop in and give encouragement to the ones that have just started a weight loss program.

I know I've said this on the DDA thread, but I can't say it enough -- if you or one of your loved ones are significantly overweight, please do something to get healthier. My mom's whole health ordeal wouldn't be nearly as hard if she didn't have all the health problems from being so overweight. I've struggled with weight all of my life, but seeing what she's gone through has renewed my determination to make life member at WW.

Steffy -- you can do WW -- I know you can. Have you tried fat free chocolate pudding with some cool-whip? It's yummy, and what helped me when I first started WW. I also love quite a few of the WW desserts.

We used to swap WW recipes in class a lot. I'm going to try to find some of them and post them here. They are yummy and filling!

Deb -- congrats on your first week of WW. Wow -- weighing in jeans and with keys! I was never that brave!

Becky -- you are doing a great job -- keep it up!

Elin and Glynis -- you are true inspirations. WTG!

Clare -- sounds like a great plan! You do what makes you feel healthy!

Hope everyone has a great day!

Well, I have been quite bad for a couple of months. I was down 25 pounds but gained 8 of them back. I am back up to 2 pepsi's a day and have not been drinking my water. I am recommitting to getting back down to 1 pepsi a day and drinking my water. It won't take me long to drop the pounds I've gained back if I just do that. I've still done really well with my eating habits except I need to make sure I'm eating breakfast and taking my vitamins. I also need to start exercising. Chuck needs to swim for his stiffness issues so I'm joining the community center with him so we can swim.

I'm sorry that you are having a bad night! I hope that things are looking up now! Stock up on some Crystal Light. It will really help soothe the sweet tooth, as well as helping you get your daily intake of water.

There are also some wonderful sugar free candies out there. Life Savers has some good ones, as well as Dove chocolates (I love the mint truffle), and Russell Stover!

Don't get discouraged. We all have bad days (and nights).

Clare! 800 calories a week is significant!!! I hope you can get used to the taste, as it sounds like it would be very beneficial to you!

I think you are right to quit worrying about the weight. Toning up will help you fit into the clothes, and if not, then you get to do some more shopping. Just keep in mind our goal is "healthy", not "stick-thin". (I happen to think you are incredibly beautiful as you are :teeth: )
