DDA's New Year's Weight Loss accountability Thread

Go Jennifer.......good job.

Checking in for the week. I lost 1.5lbs this week which brings my total to 37lbs gone. :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Leaving Thursday for Atlanta for our early anniversary trip...going to enjoy myself & eat a few treats, but I will get right back on program when we get back on Sunday. Going to a concert Saturday night that I am so excited about that I can hardly stand it. :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: It's almost as good as going to the World. :rotfl2:

Hope everyone else is having a great week.

Keep it up, Jennifer! You will be so ready for the half marathon!

Good job, Melanie. 37 pounds is wonderful. I am glad you have already decided to allow yourself a few treats on your trip. It will be easier to enjoy yourself.

I had my weekly weigh-in this morning and was happy to see a lower number this week... another 1.8 pounds gone for a total of 54.8 pounds lost since January 16.

Yeah Elin.........you have done super.

Going to have a great time in Atlanta. I'll check back in when I get back.

So despite my current sinus and ear infection, bug attack, blisters and TOM I have still managed to lose an additional 6 pounds. Bringing my total to somewhere between 23 pounds and 31 pounds lost. :rotfl2:

Why the discrepancy, the 23 pounds I know I lost for sure as that was the difference of what I lost between the last time I was at the doctor in the middle of January and today. As for why it could be up to 31 because I had lost 8 pounds already before I went to the doctor in January, although I think the correct amount is actually 28 pounds. I had lost 22 pounds before and 6 more make the 28 but I just bought a new scale and it was a difference of like 8 pounds off my old scale. So I know I lost at least 23 pounds, but I am using the 28 pounds as my amount as I feel that is correct. Are you confused yet?? :confused3 :teeth: :rotfl2: :lmao:

Congrats to anybody else who has lost more weight:cool1: and :wizard: for continuing to excercise and keep up the healthy eating.

Way to go!!!!! You are doing so well!!!!!

As for me? I'm still on a plateau. I'm hovering anywhere from 129 to 131 pounds. I'm doing everything I should, so I'm wondering if I've lost as much as my body is going to lose. I'm happy with where I am, but I'm not giving up on these last few pounds. I'm now walking 4 miles per day, and I think I need to add some spot specific exercises to take care of the Mommy Pouch. Are stomach crunches the best thing for that? Does anyone know of any other exercises I could use to target that area?

You've still done awesome. WTG Perhaps you are gaining muscle due to all of the walking. :confused3 Muscle weighs more than fat. In any case don't give up, you have come so far and are so much healthier than you were.

This website has some different Ab excercise besides just a normal crunch and it has descriptions of how to do them. Just ignore the pictures and ads on the sides and at the bottom. Some of them might be :scared1: just to let you know. This site also has some different excercise.

Hope this helps and everyone keep on moving. :cool1:

How is everybody else doing??

Hi, all! I haven't posted here lately. I've been basically maintaining the little loss that I've had so far. That is ok for now. After I get back from Disney, I will kick it up a notch and really start losing again. At least I haven't gained it all back yet!

Becky, thanks for the abs link. You are doing great!

Glynis, your body has been through a huge change. It may be a little stubborn at the end, but you are such a motivator! You have done a tremendous job!

Elin, you are a great motivator, too! Great job with the loss!

Jen, great job on the running! I really need to get regular with exercise.

Melanie, great job! You are doing so well, and you are so positive!

Glad to see you back Beth  Keep on maintaining. That is hard work too.
Becky, keep on going girl. You are doing great. :cheer2:
Glynis......you have done so well. I am so inspired by you. :goodvibes

So obviously......
I'm back from Atlanta. Had a great time especially at the concert (even though it rained the entire time in the outdoor venue & I got soaked to the bone).

I treated myself, but we also did quite a bit of walking & it was 95 degrees in Atlanta Friday when we were walking all over the place. We visited the High Museum of Art, Centennial Park, the Underground, had dinner with my high school friend at Emeril's ........let me just say WONDERFUL, had afternoon tea at a little tea room & then off to the concert. (It was Rick Springfield whom I have loved since I was about 12 years old....don't laugh at me girls :rotfl: ......but I still love the man after all these years  & he ROCKS!!!!!!! I wouldn't stand out in the rain for 3 hours for anyone else).

It was a great though tiring trip. We will celebrate on our actual anniversary Aug 9th with dinner at a nice restaurant, but we sure celebrated alot on this trip.

I am right back on program starting tomorrow morning. I don't know if I will have the courage to weigh on Tuesday. I might skip or use my green ticket (which allows you to skip the scales for one meeting). I haven't decided yet.

Thanks for all the kind words, you guys! You have all been my inspiration. I totally couldn't have gone through this experience without all of you in my corner.

I guess that now that the initial weight loss phase is over, I'm entering the maintenance phase. In some ways that's going to be a lot harder. I'm so glad that I have this forum to be accountable to.

Melanie - Atlanta sounds wonderful! I'm glad that you got a chance to let loose and really have fun! You have to do that once in a while! You are doing so well, that I don't think you need to worry about weigh in. Use the green ticket and put it out of your mind for another week.

Beth - It's good to see you posting again. You are going to have such a great time at WDW, so don't give too much thought to losing weight right now. You deserve a splurge, so have some fun (wthin reason) and jump back in when you're home! We'll always be here for you!

Glynis, the maintenance phase is hard. That is where I failed last time. I know that you can do it, though! One of the most important things is a terrific support system. You have that here!

Beth

Hi, everyone. WTG on how we're all doing. Glynis, you weigh 129 pounds? I think my left leg weighs that much. I don't think I weighed that little since Freshman year in HS. YOU GO GIRL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

John is down 11 in 3 weeks, and I'm down 7. We're debating doing the Nutrisystem again or switching to WW. Nutri is working, but the food isn't that good. Probably why it works!

Goal for the week is 3 pounds for each of us. That would mean John has 10 more to lose and I have 15-20. I'm hoping I reach my goal weight by Sept 23 (8 more weeks) which is the day we head to Disney.

Keep up the good work everyone!

It is nice to see that you are all doing so well. We are back from our vacation and Chris is finally ready to join me in trying to regain our weight loss. We have both been really bad for almost a year now and haven't been able to motivate ourselves or each other to stay on track for more than a week at a time. I was so pleased to see that more people are joining in here, it really does help. I'm not sure what diet/exercise plan we will be trying, but we've done it together before and I'm sure we can do it again. I think the big motivation is that we are now less than a year away from our next Disney trip and we've got to look good in those photos :rotfl: :rotfl: . I will keep checking in on all of you and I'll let you know our plan when we get one. Since I haven't had time to grocery shop since we came home I don't think we'll be starting just yet :rotfl: We are however doing a good job cleaning out the freezers. Keep up the good work and thank you all for the motivation.

Deb

Beth - thanks for the support! I have to tell you, if it wasn't for this group, I don't know if I'd be able to maintain. It's tough to have to cook one way for my kids and another way for myself. But with you all behind me, I know that I can do it!

Denise - I haven't weighed 129 since I was 23 years old. I can't tell you how amazing it is not to have to shop in the plus size section of stores anymore. I've heard good things about WW. Alan used it several years ago, and dropped a bunch of weight. I wish he'd get going on it again! His work would pay for him to go through the program, but he's just not motivated! I think you and John have set reasonable goals, and that's one of the best things! Together, you guys will be able to achieve those goals, and have the most fun at Disney with the kiddoes!!!!

Deb - YOU'RE BACK!!!!!!!!! I've missed you incredibly!!!!! How was your vacation!!! Tell Kitchensinkguy that it's time he came back to visit with us! We are here to support you both however you need! How are the boys? Did you all have a wonderful time?

To everyone else - Have a great week and let's keep on succeeding! Here's to us!!! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Teach me to be motivated! :faint:

I look at my schedule for today because I'm feeling guilty after lunch. Only 2 miles?! No problem! And I hear thunder, which means it's probably cooled down outside, so I lace up my shoes and take off -- without really considering ACTUAL facts.

It's NOT cooler outside. Nor is there a cloud in the sky, so I'm not sure what I heard. So this idiot just ran 2 miles in 95 degree weather with a heat index of 105 and almost 70% humidity.

I've been inside for 30 minutes already and I'm still seeing blurry! My poor kidneys! :rolleyes1

So can anyone tell me how to just eat right and exercise regularly, instead of this guilt-torture cycle?! :confused3 ;)

I am down a few pounds though, so I suppose that's consolation!

Hope you all are having a good day. And welcome back Deb and Chris! :wave2:

Weekly weigh-in was today and I was afraid I had not done well. The weather here is NOT conducive to walking, even at 6:30 in the morning! Just too darned hot. So, imagine my delight to see that I have lost a total of 58.8 pounds. It is very hard for me to believe that I have almost reached my goal!

however, I am not stopping now. I can still lose quite a bit more weight and intend to keep at this. So, you all have not lost me to this thread yet!

Keep up the hard work ladies (and gents). It does pay off in the end. :)

The weight loss totals on this thread are staggering. I can't believe how well some of you have done. Send some of that motivation my way. Please.....

Deb

Go Elin....... You are doing so great.

I am eating my celery sticks as I post this. I am back on plan after my weekend of fun in Atlanta. My points value for the day have gone down 2 points because of my loss & my weight now & I am starving. I know it's only 2 points less a day but for some reason it seems like alot & it's taking alot of will power to not eat more. I know it will pass after a few days.......but grrrrr I am hungry. :furious:

Everybody just keep swimming.......... :fish:

Hi everybody :wave2: .
Checking in for the week. Yesterday when I weighed at work, I had lost 2 pounds. Today when I weighed in at WW I had gained 1.5 pounds thanks to my montly visitor :furious: . That's ok, at least I know why I gained. Hope everyone is doing well.......& sticking with it.

My trip ticker is below 4 months.....so I am going to celebrate that today since I didn't have a loss to celebrate. :cheer2:  :cheer2:

Well, hello, all. It's been a while since I've posted, but I haven't really had anything to report. However, I do today! I've been camping since Saturday morning, and when I got on the scale today I found that I've dropped 2 pounds. I'm down to 127!!!!!!! I figured that I was done, but it looks like I can still lose a couple of pounds here and there! It makes me want to kick it into high gear again to get rid of the final 7 pounds.

Wish me luck!!!!!
