DDA's New Year's Weight Loss accountability Thread

Sorry I haven't been around the last couple of days. I kept getting the Server Down message, or the boards were down or my browser just wouldn't open it. I think that it is great that you are all training for the 1/2 marathon. I will not be joining you as it is not a good time to pull the kids from school. No vacations going on here for January so I'll have to pass. I will certainly be happy to give you all moral support.

Glynis, glad your appointment went well.

Deb

Moral support is the thing I know I'll need the most. Having never done this before, my mind keeps going back and forth between excited about doing it, and skeptical that I can do it.

I know exactly how you feel! I am really excited, but I am only on day 3 of my new diet and exercise program. Will I be able to get in good enough shape to walk that far, at that pace? Until I do this for awhile, and start to see results, I have no idea what to think.

I signed up for the thread on the WISH board, and read a lot of info. I see that there is a lot to think about to prepare etc. It is good to have the info, but I don't want to get overwhelmed either. I have a year to go, right? So I suppose I just need to go on faith that I can do this, and expect that if I follow the program Karebear1 provided, that I will be able to get in shape to do this.

WOW! You know how things can change overnight? I mentioned my thoughts to DH about training for the half marathon in 2007. Well, he did an internet search and found that Disneyland is doing a half marathon this September! Even more exciting, he wants to try doing it with me!!!

I would love if some of you fellow DDA'ers would join us.

Watch out: There is LOUD music when you open the page. I blared it to everyone at work!

I know I just quoted myself, but speaking of Kick in the rear...

I need one!!

I just had onion rings for lunch! GRRRRR!

So now I have to be healthy and eat better for the rest of the day. Most of all I HAVE to remember one bad act does not ruin my whole plan!!!!

Speaking of kick in the butts. I deserve one. I have been 100% committed to my diet and the results are already showing. Here is the big but, (pun intended) I did not exercise the last 2 days and have not done so today. Exercise is my downfall. Make me do it PLEASE.....

You guys are too incredible!!!! With all the positive feedback from EVERYONE, I really feel empowered! If I got half this much support from my family I would be a happy camper. I mentioned it to my parents, and they just kind of halfheartedly said, "ok, if that's what you want..." They just don't understand that I'm committed. At least my DIS family wants me to succeed! I really am happy about all of this!

Deb--You are already seeing great results!! keep it up and go exercise! even if you just do 10 minutes, its better than nothing!!

I guilted myself into working out. I did the 1 mile WATP tape. It really isn't that hard to do, but I'm not ready to jump into the 2 mile tape yet. I hope all this work pays off.

I am trying to lose my last 30 pounds. I have already lost 70...it has really become tough. For me it's all about the exercise...and I can't seem to get back to walking every day...I have thought about joining a health club, but somehow I feel like I won't go...I need motivation big time.

Can I join you all? I know I am late getting started, but after shopping for clothes today(which I did not come home with)I am ready to shed some pounds. I had major surgery Dec. 2004 & since then I have gained 20 pounds :guilty: I want to lose that 20 pounds. I am not good at dieting or exercise & my downfall is sweets(gee can't understand why I would gain weight). I really do not have a plan other than watching what I eat & cutting back on the sweets. I mainly drink water already, I have an ocassional diet soda. I do have an excersise machine, a glider. I put it away before Christmas, but I better get it back out.

You all are an inspiration, I hope by reading your triumphs that it will help me get in gear & get back into my size 8 pants! My goal is to get back down to 130 pounds. I have an unexpected trip to Disney coming up in 8 days, so I will not offically start till I return. Hopefully by summer, I will feel better about the way I look again :goodvibes

You come up with such wonderful designs that I just know we'll all love whatever you come up with! It will be nice to have an "official" uniform. If it's something I can wear every day to work out in, it will really make me feel like part of a team. Thanks for doing this, Kate.
