DDA Chapter 9

Dawn went to school with a girl who had it, the doctors did surgery and she was in a full body cast. Once the cast came off she was fine and could do anything typical kids her age were doing.

A friend's DD has "major" and they are not doing anything for it other than monitoring...Breanna is a DANCER (competitive for 9+ years).

Hmm. In my experience when the bosses behave that way it has NOTHING to do with the nanny. BUT it does make your job much more difficult. Open communication is so important. Hopefully this was a one time deal.:wizard:

Thanks. I needed to hear that. Unfortunately it's been going on for over a week now. There were two nights when she was halfway more like normal, but otherwise every encounter has been almost silent and/or very passive aggressive. By yesterday I was getting better at not letting it get to me...just say what I needed to say, ask the questions I needed to know about and nevermind how the response comes. I think it's the best I can do and hope that it's a passing mood and improves sooner rather than later.

My kids go to their dad's on Friday and then Sat. they leave for WDW. I'm already starting to go into a funk about it. Mainly because it's WDW. If it were anywhere else I wouldn't mind nearly as badly, but WDW is my turf, our happy place. How dare he encroach. Then on top of that I'm worrying....plane crash, someone getting lost, drowning. I know I know, it's over the top, but trust me, he doesn't have a great record for paying attention. I don't like not being in control. I'm going to miss them terribly.

I can only imagine how hard it must be. We'll be here to keep you company though. Plus, I'm sure you're kids know the World better than he does so no worries on getting lost. They'll know just where they are and where to go. :grouphug:

Good morning...

Bernadette- Sending more good thoughts and :wizard: your DH's way. Try to just take it easy.

Anne Marie- :wizard: for Katie.

Elizabeth- More good thoughts headed to your Mom. I hope her side effects are minimal. :wizard:

Amy- Sounds like you all are having fun but remember to take it easy too. Can't wait to see more pics of Noah.

Last night we went to my Aunt's house for a cookout. My other Aunt and her DH were in town for the first time since they moved to Iowa in March. I think I need to move to Iowa, my aunt looks fabulous. She has lost about 20 lbs and has a new hip hairdo and color. Her son was shocked by her new look!

My sister told my dad yesterday her news and he took it rather well. My sister went out yesterday and found an apartment and will be moving out the first week of August. She at least found an apartment where my niece can stay at the school she was in last year.

I probably won't be on all weekend. My cousin should be here by dinner time and I imagine I won't get much computer time.

Have a great weekend DDA!!!

If it continues you might want to say something. I would approach it as "You've seemed (distracted, stressed, tired, whatever word you feel is appropriate) lately. Is there anything I can help with?"
How long have you been there? If you are near a "milestone" you can ask for a quick performance review. "I've been here 2 months now, and I thought it might be good for us to sit down and talk about what's working, what we can improve on, and what things will be coming up in the next few months."
That's how I always approach my employers when it is review time. With school around the corner you guys will need to do this anyway. Good luck! :wizard:

Robyn - At no point in my life have I ever heard anyone express a desire to move to Iowa. :rotfl2:

OK... since I had some time on my hands I decided to delve into my Christmas WDW trip planning. For some reason I had put it off and not had any burning desire to do much with it at all. I had posted on the DVC rent thread about possibly renting points for the trip, but there are no 2 BR villas available for our dates through DVC. We can pay WDW's cash rate for a 2BR at OKW but... $4000 for the same rooms I could possibly have had for $2500 is sticking in my craw!

Anyway... Now I am looking at Deluxe Dining packages because DDE won't do us much good for 2 days of the trip. Under consideration are AKL (both Savanna and CL) and POFQ. Quite a dichotomy! The reasoning is: I loved POFQ the one time we stayed there for Christmas. It was maybe the most relaxing Christmas trip we have ever taken to WDW. Also, Bob and I fell in love with AKL last fall when we stayed there. I think the girls would love it too!

I do have a question. If we were to stay at AKL CL the first three nights of our stay, am I correct in thinking the IPO staff would make our ADRs for the entire 6 night stay? Or did I make that up in my befuddled brain?

Unless people begin canceling existing holiday reservations I don't believe there will be any discounted rooms for our time frame of 12/21-12/27 (12/24-12/27). I think the days of terrific AP rates at Christmas time a loooong gone. Although, there were many years that we got up to a 55% discount at resorts, arriving as late as Christmas Eve! We will have to see what happens to the tourist industry over the next few months...

Our plan is for Bob and me to go to WDW earlier than the girls, since we really don't know what their work schedules will be like come December. I figure that we could stay wherever we want for a couple of days and then on Christmas Eve when the girls arrive we can all begin new reservations at the same location. I am debating a start at POFQ and then a move to AKL when the girls arrive. I am not certain the move would sit well with my DH. He has mentioned that in passing... more than once! ;) I have emailed him asking his opinion of the following ideas.

AKL for the whole trip:
  • Club Level for 3 nights (B&E) - no dining (DDE) = $1755
  • Savanna view for 3 nights (B&E) - AP Deluxe Dining = $1950
  • Savanna view for 3 nights (K&K) - MYW Deluxe Dining and 1-day hoppers = $2194
  • GRAND TOTAL = $5900

POFQ for the whole trip:
  • Standard Room for 6 nights (B&E) - AP Deluxe Dining = $2337
  • Standard Room for 3 nights (K&K) - MYW Deluxe Dining & 1-day hoppers = $1373
  • GRAND TOTAL = $3710

POFQ/AKL Combination

  • Standard Room for 3 nights (B&E) - no dining (DDE) = $692
  • Savanna view for 3 nights (B&E) - AP Deluxe Dining = $1950
  • Savanna view for 3 nights (K&K) - MYW Deluxe Dining and 1-day hoppers = $2194
  • GRAND TOTAL = $4836

Well if I could lose 20lbs just by moving there it might not be so bad :rotfl: Seriously though I'd be bored in about 10 minutes!

As for my sister, we'll see. I know this sounds harsh but I feel she did this on purpose. I think she still wants to be with the dad, so now she has a reason to have him in her life. If he were to offer to have her move back in she'd do it a heartbeat. I pray that it works out and she doesn't make it a bigger mess than what it already is.

Robyn enjoy your weekend with your cousin!

Thanks, I will!!!

Hopefully I will. Bob told me last night that he thinks I have forgotten how to relax at home. He may be right!

What ever you do or not do enjoy it!!!

Elin even though staying at POFQ is a little easier on the pocketbook, I like the POFQ/AKL combo. The thought of staying at AKL on Christmas sounds wonderful to me ::yes::

Good luck with your decision!

Elin - you are beginning to sound like Elizabeth.

:teeth: ;)
