DDA Chapter 9

Riley & one of his friends have been mowing the yard at the gas station across the street. They were getting paid $15 which they would split between them. Today they mowed & were told that they were only going to get paid $10 from now on. I told Riley to let them know he would no longer be mowing for them beings they want to pay less than the agreed upon amount. Riley & his friend came back & said the guy said "fine, we don't like you anyway". Excuse me

So I went over there & told him I did not care for his comment & a few other things(Riley was with me so I had to be good). You know these people just burn my hide, they let the grass get so high it is ridiculous(this why Riley was mowing. No one else was & the grass was looking bad. So I had Riley offer to mow for them.) & then they want to pay less for something that they should be getting paid more for.

I told them that if they let the yard go again, I will be contacting the city & complaining. Maybe I over reacted, but anyone that says something to either of my boys that is uncalled for gets an earful from me!

Ok vent over.

I would have said the same thing. I would also make sure that anyone who mows for them after this knows their treatment and thinking.

You definately did not over react. :goodvibes

AARRGGHH! :headache:  :headache:  Insert all of your favorite curse words here! *&@+%}~
I mailed the check in to pay that FREAKING STUPID red light ticket. DH said the check just came back because I forgot to sign it. Now we are past the "due date" so there is a $25 penalty. :furious: :furious: :furious:

The kids had their annual physicals today...everyone is well except Katie has scoliosis in her spine.:sad2: They took xrays & the dr is going to call me tomorrow or Monday to see what we can do for her...poor baby.:(

Alan has scoliosis. I remember reading "Are you there, God, it's Me, Margaret" when I was a child, and being terrified about having scoliosis. Hopefully, it won't be too bad for Katie. Alan's was so slight, they didn't do anything for him as a child. Unfortunately, it's gotten worse as he has to carry a heavy camera and gear all day long.

I think you mean Deenie, Glynis, and that's exactly what came to my mind, too. Judy Blume wrote both books.

Sending lots of :wizard: for Katie, Anne-Marie.

Abi has slight scoliosis (less than 10 degrees). A friend's DD has "major" and they are not doing anything for it other than monitoring...Breanna is a DANCER (competitive for 9+ years).

I will be crossing my fingers for Katie (and praying too).

Elizabeth-I am glad to hear mom's first round seemed to go decently.

I don't think I thanked the DDA for all the compliments on the pictures I managed to post recently. Thank you! :goodvibes Of course, I've taken lots more this week, but you know how "good" I was about uploading/organizing pictures when I had two children, let alone three. ;)

Kevin went back to work on Monday, and I've tried really hard to find a balance to keep all the kiddos happy.

Monday, we took a short trip to Target, just to get out of the house for a bit (lots of toys on 30% clearance, by the way!).

Tuesday, I tried out our new sit and stand stroller and walked everyone up to the pool for an hour and half.

Wednesday, my bleeding had returned pretty heavily (hmm, think that walk to the pool did it?!! :headache: ), so we drove to Chick-fil-a for a yummy lunch and some fun time in their playland (this lunch later came back to haunt me when Matthew pitched such a fit about sitting in his booster chair at dinner that he threw up. I would've thought lunch would have been more digested and I never want to see fruit punch again! :scared: ).

Today, we returned to the pool for another hour and a half, but I drove this time. It was 98 degrees and I wanted to get in the water so bad. Hopefully I'll get the :thumbsup2 from my doctor on 8/4.

Tomorrow, I think we'll hit the grocery store for some essentials like fruit, milk, and bread.

We were also blessed with another week of donated meals. I may forget how to cook at this point. :teeth:

Hopefully the weekend won't be too busy, but we do have two kids' birthday parties on Sunday.

I can't believe Noah will be two-weeks-old tomorrow! :lovestruc

I'm trying my best to keep up with the thread daily, and though I don't post nearly enough :wizard: as I read, you are all in my thoughts!

I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Back to laundry :laundy:

How frustrating! Hope they don't send a new bill. I don't think I told you that Amex did NOT charge me a late fee for the bill I paid online 1 day late.

Next week she doesn't have chemo, just the blood draw. Her next chemo is 7/31, the day before we leave for WDW. Her third one is 8/14, which will get tricky because she goes back to work 8/12. She realized today that she can NOT just pop in for her infusion and then zip off to work. She was there for about 3 hours today, and she will have all of her appointments at the same time going forward. So she will be out of work the day of her last 2 infusions for sure.
She didn't think she'd miss any work? Doesn't she work for a school lunch? I would think that would be a tough job if you're aren't feeling well.

You did not over react-you have a right to be mad.

:wizard: :wizard: Poor Katie!

Happy Birthday Disneyland.

In one month I will be getting on the Magic.:cool1:   :yay: :dance3:

So much to do and so little time.

Today was wacky. It took over 2 hours to get to the day camp, it should have taken one. I also found out that I am getting another service unit this one is 35 miles away then any of my other units. This is on top of the only keeping two of my current units, getting rid of 4 of my units, and getting two new units that are close to the two I am keeping. This additional one is not nearby those units at all.

Two people were gotten rid of last week and two more from our department were gotten rid of this week. I really am starting to wonder what the heck we are doing. They claim that is all they are getting rid of.
 for your trip-4 weeks from today I will be going to WDW (I hope).

 Sorry things at work are so unstable.

Is anyone watching Greatest American Dog, or whatever it is called?
I watched it last week and was surprised by the results.

I went to a quilt shop at lunch to look at sewing machines. Tonight after work I went to a different shop to compare prices and got lost driving home.
slap.gif

I didn't try to go home the shortest way-I waited til I really know where I was and still got lost. I didn't even know what town I was in for a while.:confused3

I don't know if I'll get a new machine (they are so nice) but I needed something else for my mind to think about.

Thanks!

Is there a reason you are only hoping you will be at WDW? Is something going on with your trip.

Sorry you got lost.

Yes. That's what I mean. See, you're no longer pregnant, so you can think again!

Thanks!

Sorry you got lost.

Gotta see what the Dr says about DH's biopsy tomorrow. I'm trying to hope for the best but the "dark spot" on the ultrasound isn't sounding good and the dr made DH make an appointment for the results. I'm pretty sure when he had a biopsy a couple of years ago they just gave him the results over the phone.

If he needs surgery I don't how fast the dr could schedule it. The dr is out next week but I guess his office could get things rolling. The hospital he operates out of is the only one south of Boston with a robot so I don't know how long you've got to wait for that. The recovery from surgery is 1 week.

I'm thinking if we could wait for surgery after the trip (prostate cancer is very slow moving) then the kids would back in school and DH could actually get some rest while he recovers-I will take time off from work no matter when he gets it done. I suppose if he can get it done right away DH could go stay with his Mom for a few days to recover in peace.

BUT....I am trying to think all this worry is for nothing but it's still hard not to let the mind wander......

I spent a while tonight watching all sorts of videos on the sewing machine I'm interested in. It is really cool!

Were you, by chance, using my old Garmin GPS?? ;)

Bernadette - I hope your DH's appointment goes well today. Lots of good thoughts are winging northward. What kind of sewing machine are you looking at?

Anne Marie - Many of my students have scoliosis. My student, Patrick, has a pretty severe curvature and he wears a contraption best described as body armor when he sleeps. That being said, he is diligent in wearing it and there has been great improvement in his condition. He swims competitively and I doubt that anyone watching him move would ever know there is anything wrong. If I remember correctly he will be able to stop wearing the brace in May, on his 18th birthday. I hope that Katie's condition won't require this complicated treatment. But please know that it does work!

Bob and I had planned to go to DC this morning on the train. We were going to do the Duck Tour and go out to dinner. But he had a mini-crisis at work that he has to deal with instead. I understand and know that we will do it another day. It is also supposed to be 98 here today with a Code Red AQI so I think it might have been a little uncomfortable. I also had planned to mow the lawn but that air quality/extreme heat warning has changed my mind on that too.

Whatever will I do with my day? :confused3

Good for you! Sounds like they were trying to get one over since Riley is a kid. I don't think you over reacted at all.

Janet, I think the guy was very rude! You did the right thing! :thumbsup2

Hopefully it won't require any intervention! :wizard:

I have no sense of direction so I get lost all the time.
Yes, Mom works in a middle school cafeteria. She thought she would be fine and dandy to work on chemo days, but I don't think she was factoring in how long each infusion would take. When they switch to the weekly ones maybe those will be shorter. :confused3
TONS of good thoughts for you and DH today!! :wizard: I am sure you guys will be able to go on your trip. :)

Amy - Sounds like you are hitting the ground running! Remember to rest now and then!

We are leaving 2 weeks from today.
I had my second WDW nightmare last night. I was sitting in a tram talking with a CM from Canada. We were chit chatting away and I realized the bags of trading pins were still at home on the dining room table. :scared1: DS and DH were a few rows ahead of me and I hollered to DH that we left all of the pins at home. I think we each had a few pins on our lanyards but that was it. Then I started questioning what else I forgot, because for the life of me I couldn't specifically remember packing ANYTHING. :scared: Not sure what resort we were in, but it was kind of like a czar's palace. Very ornate. We were in room 313. I am afraid of the number 13. But we went in and got settled anyway. It was beautiful. That's all I remember. :confused3 Weird, weird.

I suspect we will start packing this weekend. The pins will be the FIRST thing I pack! If I forgot them I would have to have someone FedEx them to us. We couldn't go 16 days with no pins!
