DDA Chapter 9

A few trip highlights so far.

Parasailing. All 5 of us and my Dad went parasailing at the Contemporary. It was expensive, but so much fun. We all loved it and we can now cross it off our bucket lists (you know the list of things you want to try before you die).

We also did the Fort Wilderness Trail Ride. It was fun, but a very slow pace. Chris, Nick and Hunter had never ridden a horse so it was something new for them. I used to ride when I was a kid so I would have liked to go a bit faster.

Chris and Kevin did the ride along at the Disney Speedway. They loved it. It was very exciting and something they will remember always. Kevin said that the driving experience wouldn't have been as much fun since he wouldn't have dared to go as fast as the professional driver went. Chris seems to disagree on that point and thinks he could go that fast on his own :rotfl2:

The Daytona Race that Chris, Mom, DB and DSIL went too was apparently quite the race. They had a great time with lots of stories. It was all decided in the very last lap. They loved their seats and would definitely go again.

BBB. Summer loved getting all Diva'd up. Even the boys watched the process ;)

We haven't won any dreams, and really haven't seen many happening. The CMs just don't seem as approachable or cheery this trip. Our waiters/waitresses have all been pretty horrible. It is a trick to just get drinks. I guess they know that they will be getting 18% so they don't bother trying :confused3

11 of us went to Whispering Canyon and the whole thing was not up to par. The food wasn't nearly as good as previous trips and our waiter would have been better suited for the haunted mansion.
Sounds like a very memorable trip, Deb. I agree that since they added the tip into the DDP service has gone downhill considerably. There are rumors about the 09 DDP offering a 'lite' plan, which would be 2 CS and a snack a day.

We don't have the DDP, but are using the DDE card. The tip is automatically added with the DDE.

Happy Birthday! Feel better! Have a Great trip! Hope things improve! Sending good thoughts your way. Stop worrying things will work out the way they are meant to be.

I had a great time! I already knew a lot of the stuff taught in the training. I enjoyed getting to meet Girl Scout employees from all over that were so enthusiastic and we all were working toward the same mission. It was eye- opening to see how similar but different our unique councils are.

There were people from Alaska, California, Utah, Arkansas, Illinois, Iowa, Florida, Kentucky, New Jersey to name a few places. I think I gained 5 pounds as they basically feed you every 2-3 hours and the food was yummy.

I did end up going into NYC the one night. It reminded me how much I love the city but I basically only got to sight see and not do much. I was the only one in my group that had ever been to New York City before. I need to take a trip and do stuff in the city. I have been there many, many, many times but have never stayed overnight there.

I still do not know my cabin number for the cruise. I have a little over a month before my trip. I can not believe it is the middle of July already. I gotta start getting cruise stuff together.

I think I am gonna head to bed as I am tired. I gotta put sheets on it first as the clean sheets did not make it on before I left.

Tammi, they removed the tip from the DDP. Oh right except
for large parties, right?

Hi Becky :)
Glad you had such a nice time. I love going to the city but can never get anyone to go with me. :(

for large parties, right?

I'm not sure about the DDP, but they add 18% to any size party using the DDE. What amazes me most is that they don't tell you they add the tip and they put the little cards in the binder that explain that tip is NOT included :confused3 My bet is that people end up double tipping because of it.

It's time to put the kiddos to bed. It might be a bit hard since we can hear the MK fireworks going off like they were right above the camper. Have a great night.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for all of Matty's birthday wishes! :goodvibes

We're having a big party for him in August, but we still celebrated his official birthday on Monday.

Here's the cake I made him:

Wow, has this been a fast week! I was discharged from the hospital on Saturday afternoon, and my mom, stepdad and sister stayed until Monday, to help us celebrate Matty's birthday. Swim lessons ended on Wednesday, and Noah had his first doctor's visit that day, too. On Monday, the nurse who visited determined he had dropped 10% of his weight and he was jaundiced, but by Wednesday, the doctor declared Noah was on the upswing again, so that made me feel better.

I have also been fighting a two week long splitting headache that I had attributed to stress and hormones, but I finally broke down and went to the doctor today, to find out I have a sinus infection. Hopefully the Z-pack will kick in soon, and I'm trying my best to take it easy with my lovely 2nd degree tear (Noah made it 3/3 of my birthing kids with cords around their necks! ).

We have been blessed with friends and family bringing us meals all week long. Today, a friend even came over and took Alyssa and Matty to the park for a couple hours. Kevin goes back to work Monday. I know Matty is really going to miss him...he's become quite the Daddy's boy.

I know I have missed a lot this week. Lots of :wizard: and :grouphug: to you all! I hope everyone has a great weekend!

One more picture. This adorable onesie arrived this week from Kristine. :goodvibes Thanks again K!

Tia - How fun for Terra to have her daddy there to watch her sing! :goodvibes:

Oh my goodness it was so funny. I left her downstairs to come up with the class and when she got up on stage she was on her toes, waving, just hoping to see him wave back. When he did and she finally saw him she was bouncing like crazy. She waved every few minutes just to make sure he could still see her. Way too cute! :goodvibes Afterwards they had carnival type games and she barely let go of his hand as if he might disappear if she did. He was so uncomfortable when we were in the one big room and it was soooo noisy and hectic, but he wasn't going to move from her side she was just so excited he was there.

Amy love the pictures, Noah is so handsome! You have such a lovely family :goodvibes

Tammi I think Alyssa made a good decision for a treat :thumbsup2

Deb sounds like you are all having a good time! I could not view your photobucket pictures though, it keeps saying incorrect password :confused3

Riley's team lost again tonight :guilty: So no more games till next weekend, which is fine by me!

Aw glad Terra had such a good time & that Phil was able to share this with her :goodvibes

BBQ RULES
We are about to enter the summer and BBQ season. Therefore it is important to refresh your memory on the etiquette of this sublime outdoor cooking activity, as it's the only type of cooking a 'real' man will do, probably because there is an element of danger involved.

When a man volunteers to do the BBQ the following chain of events are put into motion:
Routine...

(1) The woman buys the food.
(2) The woman makes the salad, prepares the vegetables, and makes dessert.
(3) The woman prepares the meat for cooking, places it on a tray along with the necessary cooking utensils and sauces, and takes it to the man who is lounging beside the grill.

Here comes the important part:
(4) THE MAN PLACES THE MEAT ON THE GRILL.
More routine....

(5) The woman goes inside to organize the plates and cutlery.
(6) The woman comes out to tell the man that the meat is burning. He thanks her and asks if she will bring another beer while he deals with the situation.
Important again:
(7) THE MAN TAKES THE MEAT OFF THE GRILL AND HANDS IT TO THE WOMAN.
More routine....

(8) The woman prepares the plates, salad, bread, utensils, napkins, sauces, and brings them to the table.

(9) After eating, the woman clears the table and does the dishes.
And most important of all:
(10) Everyone PRAISES and THANKS HIM for his cooking efforts.

(11) The man asks the woman how she enjoyed 'her night off.' And, upon seeing her annoyed reaction, concludes that there's just no pleasing some women....

When Life gets you down
Just Breathe
And Dance

I saw that show and once was enough for me too.
I think the only reason we saw Pocohanas was while we were waiting for Lion King!!! Once was enough....:lmao:

I got a free code for a kid's ticket to 6 flags great adventure when you buy an adults ticket. I cannot use the code, so if anyone wants it, PM me
Enjoy your trip Jen!!!!:woohoo:

Am I the only mean mother that makes their kids do schoolwork during summer vacation? I got them the Summer Bridge books and they have to do one page a day. Plus read a little daily. Alyssa loves to do her workbook, but Nicholas is another story.
Nope. My DGD has a summer reading list and also summer workbook. She needs to read everyday. She loves it.:goodvibes

Mom just called.
So lots of good thoughts are needed next week if anyone has some spare ones.
You've got them!!!:goodvibes :goodvibes :cloud9:

Fly by photo post before dinner
Jennifer the girls are just too adorable for words.:goodvibes :goodvibes

Yes, he would have kept up. But it was a little scary, even for my SIL.

All in all, it sounds like the trip is a success. Really glad you are having fun. Glad the parks are still as much fun as always.:goodvibes

Alyssa's and Matty's first meeting with Noah:

Love these Amy. You and Kevin have the nicest looking kids. Love, love, love the meeting with new little brother!!:goodvibes

Elizabeth, you Mom will be in my thoughts. Lots of hugs coming your way.:cloud9:

Bernadette, your hubby will be in my thoughts. Lots of hugs coming your way.:cloud9:

Becky, good to see your trip was fun.:cool1:

Tom, your Mom will be in my thoughts. Lots of hugs coming your way.:cloud9:

I am sending hugs to all in need.

My grandkids got goldfish from the carnival. Those poor fish. As soon as they saw where they were, in a home where the people can't even grow cactus, they knew they were in trouble.:rotfl:

I went out and bought them food and gravel, but to no avail. I knew it would just be a matter of time before they were floating upsidedown. :sad2: The larger one died yesterday. The other probably willed himself to go. All drains go to the ocean right?? I sure hope so, as they were flushed away. I got home and there was no trace of him. I'm going to gently suggest that my grandkids not play any games that give living things as prizes. We are not worthy.:sad2:

Jen in case I miss you, hope you have a wonderful time!

Stephanie sorry about the goldfish :guilty:

Night all!
