Borrowing this one, Hope you had a Wonderful Party today Miss Olivia!

Marci - enjoy your baseball-free day tomorrow.

Mmm. PF Chang's is almost as good as cake!
Glad you are finally getting some down time! Enjoy your Sunday! :)
I know I shouldn't read resort horror stories. But they are those threads that I just HAVE to open... :rolleyes1

Wow, you all are quiet tonight! Hope everyone has a good night. See you in the morning!

I was babysitting with my young friends and their giant dog. ;) It's crunch time for those last few extra WDW dollars! :yay:

Hey all...Can you all spare some pixie dust for Lucy, please?

She woke us up crying at 10:30, she was hot so I took her temperature and it was 103.6. She also seemed to be having trouble breathing. We called and got her an appt at the urgent care clinic at 11:10. Eric is still there with her and her fever is now up to 105. Apparently, they are short staffed so he's been waiting.

Tammi- I am glad that you got a diagnosis for Nicholas, hope he starts to feel better soon. Your dinner sounded delicious.

Marci- Your weekend sounds heavenly, enjoy every minute of it.

Elizabeth- for more Disney money!!

Jennifer- Hope Olivia's party was a success.

Robyn, tons of good thoughts for Lucy!! :wizard: Hopefully they will get her in to see the doctor soon! Has she had anything to reduce the fever?

Her ears and throat look good. They drew blood and her white blood count was a little high. We had given her Tylenol before we put her down for bed as she had a slight fever of 99.1. They did give her Motrin and it brought the fever down to 104. The dr. said just to keep giving her the Motrin and if the fever isn't below 100 by Monday to take her to her pediatrician. The dr. said it was probably her teeth, but she has cut all 4 of the top ones. I can't imagine she is going to get any more in that soon that would spike her fever. And she never got a fever with those 4 teeth.

Aww, thanks!! That means a lot to me. :goodvibes

He just walked in the door a few minutes ago and I just put her back to bed. I am hanging out for a few more minutes to see if she starts fussing again but she looked beat.

Eric ran back out to get Motrin as all we had on hand was Tylenol. Once he gets back home I think I'll call it a night.

Thanks again! I hate high fevers and here I was telling some one last week that my kids had never had a fever over 103 before! I think I'll keep my mouth shut :rolleyes1

Robyn - my cell phone is on if you need to talk...

Kristin used to spike 103-104 fevers with no apparent reason. It took us a while to "get used to it" too. I hope you all sleep well. G'night.

Tammi,

Gentle hugs for Nicholas.   Asthma runs rampant in my family. I'm like Debbie, I am bothered by smells, perfumes, chemicals, humidity and smoke! My DGD has the nebulizer and also the steriods and something else. We tried a lot of stuff and the things that help the most... avoiding furry animals, smoke, dust and wheat.

If kids come visiting and they are sick, my DGS gets sick with a quickness. Very sick. Watching him struggle to breath is heartbreaking. The first couple of years in daycare was a challenge. But now he is doing much better. Of course, it's not winter yet.:scared1:

Broncitis is a big trigger to attacks. Sinus infections, respritory infections, chemical and smoke triggers are bad. 5 minutes in a room with 4 cats can put me down for a week. 1/2 hour in a house with people smoking can put my grandson down for a week. He also has to avoid just mowed grass. And pollen, oh geez that was ugly.

It is really hard avoiding all of the triggers, but we try. Many hugs to you to idenify what triggers his asthma and avoiding it. Avoiding is the best defense.

:wizard: :wizard:  By now I hope that Eric and everyone is in bed and asleep. I hope that Lucy feels much better in the morning and everyone else is spared the sickness.

Tammi- I hope that Nicholas feels better. I also suffer from asthma. Hope you can figure out the best way to minimize its impact on him.

Night everyone.

She was so sick after coming to my house just to see all of the work we had done with painting and such. Now she just stands outside and waits for me.

Yes not one of my finer moments-----almost killing my BFF Stephanie with my furballs

We went to Logan's for dinner tonight. After Anne Marie's talk of steak, I had the filet, cooked to perfection (usually they overcook it it for my taste) and it was delicious.

I went to Logan's on a business trip once, it was good! We were supposed to get one around here, but I don't know what happened! Enjoy your day today!

I hope everything is well today! You can always alternate the Tylenol and the Motrin, to keep the fever in check. Give Lucy a big hug from us (and tell Emma and Molly hi!) :)

Check this out! It's from a really addicting site called Wordle... you've been warned :) I'd love to play with it some more, but I got up after the 5am feeding to get important stuff done. You see how well that worked out :rotfl:

If you aren't supposed to be doing a hundred other things (like I am), then you should try it out. Have a good day, DDA!

And she never got a fever with those 4 teeth.

I will tell you, in 15 years of nannying I have NEVER heard of a fever that high from teeth. Teething fevers tend to be low grade, and some doctors don't believe that even low grade fevers are caused by teething.
The only time DS had a fever that high it was his ears. Since Lucy's ears are clear I am not sure what to think. :confused3 DS was also older than 12-13 mos. when that happened - he was preschool age. I hope she feels better today!! :wizard:  I would definitely be calling the pediatrician tomorrow, just to get their input. I have never seen Tylenol work for anything. Ibuprofen is much more effective, and like Jennifer mentioned, for high fever I like to alternate Tylenol and Motrin every 3 hours.

It sounds like Nicholas started with a respiratory problem, like a cold even, and it caused the asthma to flair. I have to be very careful around people with coughs and colds, as I get them and then because of the asthma they can get really bad, taking more than two rounds of antibiotics to clear it up.

Prednisone and albuterol are asthma meds that I am pretty familiar with. Smoke is definitely a trigger for me, along with strong fumes, such as bleach, paint, chemicals, and even some perfumes. I have problems with humidity and have taken a prednisone taper while on vacation as a precaution, I can no longer take the prednisone because of the diabetes, so now I take along my nebulizer and pulmicort. I would definitely ask to see a respiratory specialist, mine took me from not being able to walk across the room without a coughing fit, to now most people don't even realize I have a problem. I would also talk to his doctor about your upcoming trip and the possibility of complications due to the heat and humidity, better to be prepared and not need it than to get there and Nicholas have breathing troubles.

Sorry to ramble, I also had never heard of cough variant asthma, until they told me that is what I had. It all started with a bout of bronchitis that just wouldn't go away.

 Looks like you have a wealth of experience here dealing with asthma, I'm sure we'll all be happy to help in any way we can
Thanks, Debbie. I was planning to follow up with his ped. this week. The only problem is ours just retired and we've switched to a new one that isn't familiar with him. Maybe I will just go right to a specialist instead.

Thanks Stephanie. I definitely think it was the smoke that triggered it. He is generally a healthy kid and doesn't get sick often. Pets don't bother him, as we have dogs and cats. The pollen here hasn't seemed to bother him. It's so good to have all of you share your experiences with me. :goodvibes

I hope that both Nicholas and Lucy are doing better today!
