DDA Chapter 9

I hope it works out and Princess cooperates.

That is really insane that they are expecting your mom to babysit. I know that when my girlfriend's MIL had breast cancer she didn't stop watching her grandkids, all 6 of them!! My girlfriend's DH has a sister who couldn't afford to put her kids in daycare so the mom watched her 3. And she watched my girlfriend's 3 because she felt obligated to do the same for her son even though they could afford daycare. She continued to watch them all through her radiation and chemo. I thought it was incredibly selfish of them to put that on their mother. My girlfriend should have found someone during that time to at least lighten her MIL's load. But my girlfriend kept saying "Well she says she can handle it." :sad2: She said that because she felt like she didn't have a choice with her DD. I don't know how the MIL did it because the kids are not the best behaved kids to begin with.

It's not just the fact that Mom is already fatigued. Small children are dangerous because they are so germy. To someone with ZERO immunity a toddler can be very hazardous! I am going to make sure the oncologist tells her she can NOT be babysitting once her treatment is underway. It's bad enough that she works in a middle school. I am willing to bet she will have to wear a mask at work to protect herself. Especially as we get into flu season. :sad2:

I wish we had the extra cash to do so. But with my luck I'd get stuck with them.

Nah. I'd buy one from you. You wouldn't make a profit, but at least you wouldn't be in the red on that one! :rotfl:

Elizabeth - breath deeply. I hope your mom gets good news.

Thanks, Janet, and everyone else.

Thanks. It just aggravates me that Mom allows herself to get dragged into watching the kids. Their mom is a loser with a capital "L" so everybody feels sorry for the kids. BUT the mom is never going to make an effort with so many people enabling her! Why watch your own kids when there are OTHER people who will watch them - for FREE! She is almost 30. She has never had a steady job, she has no idea who the father of either child might be, and I see NO indication of her lifestyle changing anytime soon. Her main goal is to go out drinking every night. Bonehead.

The kids look like they were having a good time at the game! DH keeps talking about taking DS to a game (either the Rangers or the Rough Riders) but he never gets around to actually going.

Janet - The people responding to your bus post seem to continue to miss the point. The buses WEREN'T BAD until RECENTLY! What difference does it make if the buses were terrific last year? Now, people. We are talking about the bus situation NOW! When we went in December the buses were fine. But that was BEFORE they started messing with the system. :headache: Duh!

I love the ones who say it is all a matter of perception. Um, no. If I wait 45 minutes for a bus I will be more than "perceiving" that we have missed our ADR! Paying full price for DxDDP means there will NOT be missed ADRs, because those will equal unused credits! I am getting fidgety just thinking about it. :scared1:

Elizabeth, I hope that you have all good luck with buses!

Janet, I saw your other post this morning. I hope that you have all good luck with buses, too! When we were at POR 2 years ago, people were complaining about bus service then, and we had all good experiences. We were always out early for the trips into the parks in the mornings and never waited more than 5 minutes for a bus. At that time, everyone said that the buses went to POFQ first and then the main stop at POR. Well, we stepped on to a completely empty bus more than once, so I think that they did different dispatch first thing in the morning. One night we left Epcot after IllumiNations, and saw that POR had an incredibly long bus line compared to everywhere else. We still were on a bus within 20 minutes. I know that things are different now, but our experience was positive back then even though many people were reporting negatives.

Tia-your friends are added to my prayers.

Elizabeth-patience and peace, patience and peace that is my mantra/prayer to you!!

I heard from somebody last night that got me to thinking that you all may not realize that the stuff going on in my life has nothing really to do with my house. We signed paper work last week to get the house out of foreclosure:cool1: and if only the other stuff was so simple.

But, I know that the DDA prayers and pixie dust is working because I have a calm come over me in times of greater stress that can only be DDAers at work. :flower3:

Theresa - Thank you! My mantra is wearing a little thin today. Princess will be awake any second, the housekeeper sounds more like she is knocking the house DOWN rather than simply cleaning it, and Mom still hasn't phoned.

I am so glad your house financing is getting straightened out! I just wish everything else would fall into place, too! We miss you!

Hopefully your mom will listen to the dr. about it not being a good idea to babysit.

I might just let you buy this one!!! Eric and I set up our profiles on the Fit. :scared1: :scared1: We would fit right in at Steffy's house!! :goodvibes I lack a lot of the coordination to play the stupid thing so it's going to be quite the challenge. I kept getting bonked on the head with the hula hoops they were tossing at me! And I can't do the yoga until my head cold clears up as they want you to breathe in and exhale through your nose.

Your cousin sounds a lot like my sister! Thankfully she is starting to realize that things aren't quite as easy as she thought they should be. I've seen a big change for the positive in her the past year.

Patience!! The Dr. is probably just running behind.

Theresa, I'm dittoing Elizabeth because she said it so well. :grouphug: :grouphug:

Which Katie has a birthday today?

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, KATIE!! :dance3:

Robyn - I don't imagine the Mii would deflate much at my house! :rotfl2:

Still no word from Mom! If the oncologist is running an hour behind then he has my sincere condolences! She probably just decided NOT to call me. I will call her tonight about 7 PM and she will say "Oh. I forgot to call you, didn't I?"

I hear Princess banging around in her crib. In a minute she will be shouting for me to come get her, so if Mom calls now I won't be able to listen very effectively!

My cousin (Lucy's godmother) from Michigan just called a bit ago to confirm that she will be visiting next weekend with her boyfriend. I am so very excited. She has been dating him for about 1 year and half to 2 years now and I haven't met him yet. Emma met him last year at my cousin's brother's wedding reception and she loves him. I was too pregnant to travel. I am pretty sure this is the "One". They get here Friday night and leave Monday morning. I am so excited!! :cool1:

Glynis' Katie.

Your Mii would surely be less than mine!! Ty said that it didn't look quite like me as I was not that fat! :rotfl2: Gotta love him!!

The Wii has kept the kiddos occupied most of the day. It was too hot for me to go outside. The humidity is unbearable and I couldn't breathe. So they have been bowling all afternoon. For a 3 year old he was pretty good.

The 2 older girls are at the inlaws. Emma has been there since Monday night and called to asked if she could stay tonight. I told Eric that she could only if Mo could too. Eric dropped Mo off a little earlier this afternoon to swim per his mom's request. I know it's a lot for his parents to have the 4 kids, our 2 eldest and SIL's 2. But Mo has been crying that Emma has been over there, she misses her at bedtime. The choice was to be fair to Mo was that either they both stayed or they both came home. I know Mo isn't the easiest to handle but she is aware when they are treated differently. When they all came over for dinner yesterday apparently my FIL, SIL and BIL took the 3 kids (Emma, Alex and Sarah) to the mall. Emma and Alex made bears at BAB and each got a new pair of Crocs and a few books each. Mo was a little upset that she didn't get a bear or new shoes. She got a book, which she loved but also wanted a bear. I know life isn't always fair but when you're little it's a harder pill to swallow.

Sounds like fun! I bet the margaritas will be flowin'!

As soon as went back to get Princess from her crib the oncologist called. Luckily she just sort of hung out in her room with me while I talked to him.

They are starting Mom on Adriamycin/Cytoxan. That chemo will be one infusion every 2 weeks for 4 cycles. After that she will be on weekly infusions of Taxol for 12 weeks. After that she will start radiation. The oncologist was very nice.

The first thing is for Mom to get a MUGA score to make sure her heart can tolerate the Adriamycin. The girls on the breast cancer thread call it the "red devil". It causes cardiac damage. :guilty:
If her MUGA score is good she will go to the surgeon to have a port put in. There is no way she can go without a port for 16 chemo infusions. If all goes as planned she will probably have her first infusion next week.

So there you have it!

Robyn enjoy the weekend with your cousin!

Elizabeth glad you heard from the Dr. Continued :wizard: for your mom, I hope all goes well with the chemo treatments

Happy Birthday Katie!

Beth what are your dates for Aug.?

Elizabeth - I'm glad you finally heard from the oncologist. However, I don't know if it's good news or bad, or maybe just questions finally answered.

Robyn - I hope Molly enjoys her night with Emma and the cousins.

Yes but when one is as sick as Jen, Garrett or me, then you would think the doctors would be smart enough to know they have to go. Being on antibiotics so much is not good for you.

Doctors are REALLY against removing tonsils in all but the most severe cases. It has been like that for the past 15 years or so. The surgery is very bloody and I guess the general consensus is that unless the tonsils are obstructing the child's airway or they are constantly infected the Drs prefer to leave them in.

Sorry Tammi, forgot to say I like the photos. Especially the one of the kids, they look like they are the best of friends.

I was 30 when mine were taken out and had to stay overnight because it can be a lot worse for adults. I had absolutely no trouble at all.

Garrett had no problems with the surgery.
