Well I just called Banana Boat & explained what happened. I spoke with a very nice lady who filed a report & is sending me coupons for the full purchase of the sunscreen & a mailing label to send the bottle I have back to them so they can check if something is wrong with it. Nice to know good customer service still can be found.

I had a container of the new Aveeno Sunblock Spray, Continuous Protection, SPF 45 that allowed me to get a nasty burn at the beginning of the summer. I put it on 15 minutes before going out to mow the lawn too. Makes you wonder about quality control, doesn't it?

You want to know something scary? You are not the first person to say that about Aveeno. I bought some last year, then I read a post where somebody said they FRIED after putting it on. I returned it. I JUST bought another tube of it this year but haven't used it yet. Guess I will only go out for a short while the first time I put it on!

Anne Marie - Glad to hear Banana Boat is handling your complaint appropriately. The only problem I have ever had with sunscreen was with some from Gymboree. (They used to have a skin care line.) It was from the summer before, sat in the cabinet all winter, then the first time we used it the next summer we all burned. It obviously lost it's efficacy over the winter.
I hope Sophie is feeling better soon!

(I actually had a "concrete mixer" from Culver's the other day..... not the same, but it was a nice fix. I think of you all whenever I am wishing St. Louis were a bit closer! )

I was tempted to send you some in the height of pregnancy issues, but $90 was a lot for 2 little minis. Sorry. I definitely think of you when we go there though (as if that helps you any ). I've found others to be ok for a fix too when we don't want to drive far, just not the same, you're right.

I saw your post about the POR buses. I would say not to worry. Not sure if you remember but you, Chanon, & I took the bus to MK from the BC in Oct & I remember waiting for quite a while.... Now I love my BC but I think we were there for over 30 minutes. Also the buses at BWI going to MK weren't that great either.

Don't sweat it..I am resigned to the fact that the buses may take longer than I would like. We will have our car in August but we never drive to MK so I know we will have to deal with the buses for that. Any time I leave the MK I do so leisurely...no point of trying to get out of there fast at park close anyway. HTH.

Thanks Anne Marie! I guess I am just more worried beings it will be so hot out. The thought of standing in line waiting for a bus after a long hot day at the park makes me a little nervous. I am sure all will be fine, if not I will just have to deal with it lol

Morning all! A good friend of mine could use the prayer power of the DDA. This is a little long, but I can't seem to wrap my around a condensed version right now.

I've known Sarah since 7th grade and her DH Brent since 10th. Brent is a paramedic, Sarah is a teacher and they have 3 kids - 2,6,8. About a year ago Brent started having migraines. They weren't all that frequent and ranged from not too bad to really bad. In the last 6 months they have gotten horribly bad. Often times the are incapacitating and can last for days at a time. The only medication that was helping comes with a high risk of liver (I think it was) damage. Many doctors visits, ER trips, tests, MRIs, etc have given then no positive ID of the problem.

At the end of the school year, Sarah took a leave of absence from work. She was intending to quit and stay home with the kids, homeschooling this year, but it changed to the leave in case things get to the point that Brent can't work anymore. 3 weeks ago Brent was still working on days that he was functional. He would sleep between calls as needed, but he could make it to work most days. After another trip to the ER 3 weeks ago and 4 neurologist visits in 2 days the put in a permanent IV line and started doing IV drug treatments every 12 hours. When they tried switching to 24 hours between treatments he had 3 breakthrough migraines in 5 days. The drug treatments take and hour and a half each. They are working for the pain, but the side effects aren't great. He's taken a leave of absence from work now due to these treatments, but he can't very well do just this forever.

Brent is talking about trying a 3 week in-patient pain clinic in Michigan, but after that they don't know what other options lie ahead. Add to that the stress of wondering what to do if he can't go back to work after the end of this month. Sarah is stressed being the sole care-giver/taker of 3 kids, a husband in pain and the household on top of the money worries, etc. The 6 year old has started worrying that Daddy is going to die. Sarah miscarried very severely in November and came close to not making it through herself. He knows that the baby died when Mommy got sick and now worries about Daddy.

Thats the problem, the doctors.
I went for years having my doctor refuse to take them out. Finally said enough! I want them out! and he sent me to an ears, nose, throat specialist. That doctor couldn't believe they weren't taken out much sooner, and it turns out the were the largest tonsils he ever seen, so they were sent away to be studied.

I still have my tonsils..the dr never said anything about taking them out though..

When Garrett was younger he constantly got strep throat. I would take him to the Dr. & they would order antibiotics. He was always in so much pain & I could not handle seeing him go through that. After taking him to the Dr. numerous times I finally took him to a specialists when his throat was so swollen he cold barely swallow let alone talk. The Dr. took one look & said that his tonsils needed to come out. Garrett was scheduled for the following week & has not had any problems since then.

I wish I would have taken him sooner, made me feel horrible for him suffering like that. But I trusted that the other Dr. knew what he was doing. Seems we sometimes find out the hard way, Dr's don't always know & we have to go by our instincts & find someone that will listen or take action.

One of my friends worked for a family where the mom was ADAMANT about having her DDs tonsils out, even though the pediatrician said the surgery was absolutely NOT indicated. The mom went through all sorts of doctors until she found an allergist who agreed to take them out - it ended up being horrible for the little girl. The surgery is very bloody and I guess the general consensus is that unless the tonsils are obstructing the child's airway or they are constantly infected the Drs prefer to leave them in.
