DDA Chapter 8

We're in the middle of a Thunder storm now. It is all around us. We had a quick one earlier, but this one is lingering. I'm glad that I'm wireless :rotfl2: We even unplugged the big TV...just in case.

well, here in Virginia we don't get feet and feet of snow in the winter.... and it is not totally uncommon for us to have this kind of heat, but not usually in June!
Do you hit over 100 on average? Here in GA we hardly ever hit 100. For Deb in Vermont to have the heat, Anne Marie and Marti in NY... it's like the South moved up and they get the winter too. And for all those people up there who don't have AC, it is so dangerous and UNCOMFORTABLE.

I am shocked how hot is for y'all WAY up North. It was around 90 here today. So y'all have feet and feet of snow in the winter and then the heat we get (or hotter). :scared1: Has it always gotten so hot for you, or is this really unusual?

The snow is expected and so is the heat, but it is usually only a couple of weeks and it is in the middle of summer, not in June. Our schools don't even have AC. My mother said that they had the high school students sitting on the floors today as that was much cooler then at the desks. We are already making up snow days so it would be unlikely that they cancel due to heat. The seniors graduate on Thursday, but then have to attend school all next week to make up snow days :confused3

Yes, we get inches and inches. This heat usually comes in July and August, along with the drought.

We are getting thunderstorms too. I went outside earlier and the temp had dropped considerably. I actually thought it was kinda nice out.

I went to the library today and picked up some books for the kids, since they haven't been able to check any out from school now that it is coming to and end. I got Nicholas the first Harry Potter book and we started reading it tonight. I read the first 5 or 6 pages to him, to get him interested, and then he read for awhile. I might have to go in his room and steal it!

We usually have a few 100+ days each summer. But even if we don't have 100 degree temps, with the humidity that we get it SEEMS like 100. I would think that most people around here have air conditioning. You would have to! Now in DC, in certain areas, I doubt it.

We love the Harry Potter books. I have the last one on cd and we will listen to it on our trip home when we are all in the truck together. I think it will cover most of the ride home as it is 21 hours long.

So he needs software, and a bag, and a tripod, and I can't remember what all else. It's ridiculous.
:faint: Has he tried picassa? It is free I think. The AV guy at my office (he's a really good photographer!) suggest that to me but I couldn't get it to work on my Mac. I've got to try again.

I have my tests for the Urologist on June 20th (BK's party), so pray they aren't too bad, and I will feel ok. Then I'm having surgery on July 8th. It's one night in the hospital, a week at home, and 4-6 before all is back to normal. Said I should be fine to start work Aug 4.
:wizard: :wizard: :wizard:

oh please, oh please let this job prospect come through...I hate being second guessed on every word out of my mouth...ESPESCIALLY on stuff that is MY domain. :furious:

Can you tell it's been a day??
 :wizard: :wizard: :wizard:

Bernadette --

Thanks for the emails of your TR. I LOVE the picture of Emma with Pooh! She is so cute but is absolutely precious in that photo.
Which Pooh photo? The one from 2005? That is old photo is one of my favorites of all our trips of her. It was raining and the colors are so much more intense in that one then in the one in the bright sun from this trip.

I know Becky asked, but I didn't see a reply. Has anyone heard from Tom lately?
He posted about 2 weeks ago over on the boutique thread. I'm sure he's just busy.

Im with you on the new job though--i aws told i find out next wednesday if i have a positino at a certain district--its killign me to wait!
:wizard: :wizard: :wizard:

If his theory was correct then I could use the same software to make my point and click pictures spectatular :confused3 I think not.
::yes::

back from the scavenger hunt.....a great time was had...I posted pics and a full description on the trip report...I am warning you ahead of time that's it's a tad long!!

We are leaving Animal Kingdom Lodge tomorrow morning....I very much enjoyed it!!!! I liked it enough to consider adding on points. :)

We will head over to Kennedy Space Center tomorrow..and then on Thursday we will start our cruise. :cool1::cool1:

Hope everyone is well!!!!!!
What a cool day you guys had today! Enjoy the space center. Will you be relaxing a bit on the cruise?

Vicki. She and Chuck separated from the group for a couple of hours and were sitting in front of the Ice Cream Parlor on Main St at the same table we shared with them in October :rotfl: She said she just had to call since they were thinking of us :goodvibes She said things are going well, but it is hot. I think most of us had hotter weather at home, but they were still hot. She said she is no longer in awe of our 3 week trip as she can't imagine how hot it will be then :lmao: My bet is no worse than here. She was apprehensive of OKW after their trip earlier this year, but the are in building 54 and they love it. It is now on their favorites list.
Glad she's having a great trip!!!

I have to agree with her....this is some of the hottest weather I have ever experienced.....I am unsure I could do another summer trip....I can't even begin to imagine August :faint:
According to weather.com it was lot hotter when I was there in early May. The hottest I've ever had in Disney was late May 2006-104 one day:scared1: That was worse for me than August. By August I'm at least a bit more used to the heat at home and we don't have central AC so we actually did better last August than my FL friend.

This is unusual for us but not record breaking.

agreed. According to my AAA TourBook the average high in Virginia in the summer is 88, so we definitely get hot. And HUMID.

Atlanta's average summer highs are the same as ours.

whichever one you included in my email today. LOVED it!

I bought the Garmin 260. It got me home!!!!

I told Stephanie that if it got me to work tomorrow, I will keep it :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Tomorrow I am driving down to the Outer Banks to join Hal and the kids. It will take about 7 hours.

I will be able to be on line and post pictures. We will then come home on Saturday.

Feel free to call me on my cell. I may not be able to talk long, but would love the company.

The hottest weather we ever had at WDW was 10 years ago this July. We were at the BC for our 25th anniversary and the fires and temps were just horrible. Over 100 every single day we were there and smoke so bad our eyes watered the whole time.

That's interesting about being the same, but we're fairly far apart. What's your average winter temp? Ours can't be too low, and we *maybe* get 1/4" of snow total per year. And that closes all the schools and is a HUGE deal. :lmao:

I was looking at that today! Let me know what you think.

When are you leaving PA? Wave at us as you drive past Fredericksburg, please. :wave2: I am so jealous. I would love to be headed to the OBX.

According to weather.com your average winter temps are about 5-8 degrees warmer than ours. And we do get more snow than you do, again... on average.

I remember the winter of 1982 in Georgia... it snowed like crazy in Athens and we had to teach the kids in our neighborhood how to sled ride and make snowmen. And we were the only people out on the streets driving! When I first came to Virginia in 1969 for college people in this area reacted much the same. But they are getting "somewhat" better now when we get snow. They only panic a little bit. Unlike the gentleman at High's (a total stranger) in Athens, no one here has ever asked Bob or me to drive them home because they were too scared to do it themselves. We had PA plates on our car at the time... :rotfl2:

I'm getting my hair cut/permed on Saturday. I've been growing it out for the last several months, but with all this talk of hot weather I think it is time to go short again. I looked like a drowned rat when I got done at the dam today and of course I took the kids to their appointments looking that way. With the heat and humidity coming on strong I will look better short and wavy (short and curly sounded way wrong :rotfl: )

whichever one you included in my email today. LOVED it!
I included a photo of Emma from this trip by a Pooh statue and a photo of her by the same statue from 2005. I LOVE that 2005 photo. She was still a bit shy of the characters then and she had her hand on the Pooh statue with a very pleased "I'M TOUCHING POOH" look on her face.

Drive safe! Have a great time!

I LOVE my Garmin...it is done here with us now. I would not travel without it.

mine is shorter than it was too. I had a hair appointment on Monday and I told her to take off about an inch more than last time. It has been growing like crazy!
