DDA Chapter 8

I am officially on summer vacation (for two weeks) and have spent the morning unwrapping gifts and writing thank you notes.

I am going to pour myself another cup of coffee and sit on my patio before tackling my garden work.

Hope your days go well, friends! :)

Yay for summer vacation! Mine started last week, and I'm not sure that I accomplished much besides thank you notes. I didn't have many to write, but I made them using cut-outs from my Cricut. Plus I just didn't do much last week. :rotfl:

I have heard of adults without children, getting the child swap pass. IMO that should not happen.

But I think that you should be able to use a child swap for Miles. He is still a child who needs supervision at WDW so you should be able to use a child swap pass.

Thanks! I know that it will all work out, because we'll be at WDW no matter what we ride or where we eat.

Beth I wouldn't think it's a problem at all. I would do it myself if I was in your shoes.

Thanks! I don't know what made it pop into my head. The only other ride we'll have an issue with is Haunted Mansion, and that is Laura, so she might just have to wait outside for a bit or give it another try. Yes, she loves ToT but refuses to ride HM...silly girl.

The first time we went on ToT was our first trip to WDW with kids. Matthew had just turned seven, Laura was four and a half, and Miles was about 3 months from being conceived. Matthew flat out refused to even try, but it became Laura's favorite ride the first time she tried it. Back then they did let dh and Matthew wait outside and then Michael came in to ride while I waited with Matthew, but that was before Fast Pass, etc.

Matthew finally tried it when he was 13. His reaction was pretty much "I've done that once in my life and that was enough." He did go once more on our last trip when he was 15. He said it's good once every couple of years.

Miles tried it for the first time on our last trip when he was 7. He didn't much like it and proclaimed himself done with that one. He wasn't terrified or traumatized, but he didn't ever want to do it again. Lately, he has been saying that he wants to give it one more try. We'll see what happens.

Becky kept saying "Mommy make it stop, Mommy make it stop, ...". She was 18 years old. Tears were streaming down her face. I was looking at her the whole time rubbing her back and saying "You are safe. It will be over soon. ..." The picture captured this. She wanted to buy it just so she could prove that she had done it. I still don't know what I think of the ride because I was so concerned about her that I didn't really experience it.

That sounds awful!

Hi kids - I thought I'd let you know

I just got a call from Kristine - they are currently in the new Toy Story ride at HS. They have been stuck for more than 1/2 hour and the lights are on. She took some pictures but she told me Little Green Men are taking her hostage and I'm to alert her loved ones that it may be death by Woody.

At least she's keeping her sense of humor!

Oh No!!!!!

Hope she makes it out okay

Great! Do you have any suggestions for me? One friend mentioned that cog railway to the top of Pike's Peak, but that would run $150+ for our family! :scared1: Any idea if it is worth that price. This is vacation and all, but that seems a bit steep (no pun intended :rotfl: ). Also, We aren't going to have a lot of time in the area...maybe an evening and then half a day. I can tell you for certain, though, that I won't be driving Pike's Peak highway.

there is a ton to do for free or nearly free. When I get home and can have one of the girls type for me I'll go through our favorites ( plus I have coupons for the area)

we were lucky that it was basically a walk on two times in a row....my girls loved it!! and were sorely disappointed they couldn't do haunted mansion.

Thanks! Don't go through too much for me. Do you know anything about hotels down there?

How is your wrist doing? Is it improving?

Mine exist year round as well. But I hope they improve.

Mine are basically year round as well, but some seasons are worse than others. Up until this year, grass pollens didn't seem to bother me as much as tree pollens so I was starting to get a little relief by now.

if it's competition time at the Olympic Center it can get expensive...as we found out last summer when we were winded out of our campsite. We've gotten great deals using the company associated with the Entertainment Book. Going to the little town up Pikes Peak a little will also make it a bit cheaper (plus you can go up Pikes Peak a little).

I went all day yesterday with no Vicodin...and actually slept through the night:cool1: . Hurts a bit still.... mainly when I type...so I better stop!!:rotfl2:

Areyou eating at LTT before MVMCP or are you just doing CS?
We are planning on the Plaza for dinner.

Killed by a Woody. My death of choice.....:rotfl2: :cool1:

:rotfl: ;) ::yes::

Hi Marti!!!

Beth,
I would ask if you can do it. I can't see why it would be a problem.
What are your dates again?

Elin,
Enjoy your afternoon!

Deb,
You go to Disney this month!:hyper:

I just got the 2nd coat on & boy are my arms tired!

For some reason I am craving a hamburger which is unusual for me. Off to take a break from painting..I have to get the white trim done (hopefully today) Daniel made the baseball playoffs so I may not have enough time today.

Yes, definitely stop typing!

We're planning to be there the night of Sun, July 20th and then about half the next day. We're trying to plan and yet be flexible, to see what we can and still enjoy the trip.

Ah, more Kristine adventures to enjoy! :rotfl2: I think I would have clambered out of the ride vehicle and hiked out of the ride before I sat immobile for 30 minutes.

Beth - I am sure it will work out with ToT. :)
I have a hair appt. at 1 PM. DS needs a haircut, too. I can't recall the name of the girl who cut his hair last time - the girl we had been requesting quit and they didn't tell me until we got there.

Vicki - DS rode ToT the first time and hated it. The second time (different trip) he said he would ride. We got to the boarding area and he came UNGLUED, begging to go out the chicken exit. I am actually really sorry that he knows about the chicken exit, because it makes things worse. We forced him to go on it because he had done it before and it didn't kill him. Not our finest parenting moment, but really, he did survive. And he was 10, so it's not like he was a preschooler. DH doesn't like elevators - plain, normal elevators in office buildings - but he loves ToT. Go figure. :confused3
I guess if we are ever there at the same time as your girls we can leave DS with Becky! :rotfl:

I don't ride Dinosaur anymore because it is too rough for my back. Same for Space Mtn. And Star Tours makes me nauseous, although it didn't used to. If they refurb it with a new movie I will have to check it out, otherwise I will wait in the shop! Of course last year DS & DH got dream FastPasses on Star Tours and didn't tell them I was waiting outside so we had to get by with only 2. That was kind of a pain.

ohhhh....maybe we can try and see you on the 21st. (I work both the 19th & 20th at the Music Festival to get the fundraising out of the way for marching band).
