DDA Chapter 8

Jackie packed a bunch of bottles of creams and gels into her carry on last time...brought the whole place to a halt. It was not pleasant trying to shuttle everyone over to the area where they search you.

now she's onto seashells

My cousin's dad tried to give DS a mug like those toddler cups with the liquid between the layers of plastic. I told him it would be confiscated, so he gave DS a race car shaped tin full of chocolates instead. :)

No sea shells. Aren't there shells on the beach at Castaway Cay? Wouldn't she rather choose some new ones?

trust me, there is no logic....there's the lucky shell, the lonely shell, the baby shell...each one has a sob story

Wow! Inflexible, weren't you? ;)
DS would go the rest of his life in the same single pair of shoes. Makes me crazy. I will pack several pairs for him.

Oh, they would end up adding extra but they had one suitcase and the mandatory list got packed first. If they had extra room, then we'd discuss the extra shoes, the seashells, the balloons, etc. Three pairs of shoes was 3 pairs of shoes. They learned what was appropriate. I started then when they went to Girl Scout camp. Becky was around 9 and Katrina was 12. By the 3rd year, I didn't even have to check their bags. They had their list and they could be trusted to pack for themselves.

I've got cold and am feeling lousy. I tried to go to bed hours ago but couldn't sleep. Maybe I should try again or work on photopass some more-I think I have 2 days finished.

:wizard: :wizard: Feel Better. Sleep would definitely be a plus:thumbsup2

You pack extra shoes...but does he wear them?

Christopher only wants to wear velcro shoes...it's driving me crazy!! I told him he can't go to college in velcro shoes!!

Why not? :confused3 I wear velcro shoes all the time. I don't like lace shoes. I even have a pair of Nike velcro shoes.

Yes, he can, but that's beside the point.:rotfl2:

DS doesn't like to tie his shoes, but the shoes he wears to school do have ties. The Keens that don't have to be tied (they have elastic laces that you tighten with a toggle thing) are the ones the other kids teased him about so he will only wear them at home. DH has teased DS about velcro shoes enough that he won't wear them, so we are always looking for some sort of slip-on shoe that doesn't look babyish.

Come on, Tia! Planning is FUN!!
Add this, subtract that, book, cancel, change your mind, start over again!
I hope you can get it all figured out. You can keep calling for ADRs - people cancel all the time. I am still not sure if my ADRs are finalized.

Heck yeah it is! I was secretly happy to be calling for more ADRs. If we decide to move the dates, I will definitely keep calling back. I've just got to decide if I want to move them and risk losing those things or keep them and wait for F&WF another year.

You pack extra shoes...but does he wear them?

Maybe. I do think he wore his Crocs at least part of the time last summer. Or maybe that was the summer before? Anyway, he can't wear socks and sneakers to Blizzard Beach so I'll pack some sandals for him, and Crocs, and sneakers. When he gets dressed for the parks he will wear the sneakers, but I want to have Crocs in case his other shoes get wet or something.

Elin, I'm probably gonna need my foot in mouth smilie...

Karen, is it possible for the service dog to go with the puppy raiser for a few days? Or would that confuse him? I know the puppy raisers here have a support system for when they have to go out of town or something. I don't know if they extend that curtisy to the end users or not??? I can really understand your reluctance to go during your bonding period.

Karen, I agree with Stephanie's statement about seeing if the puppy raiser can take the puppy for a few days. Or try to get someone to pet sit for you. Some pet sitters take the pet into their home instead of coming to the home to take care of the pet. You deserve time on a cruise just as much as everyone else.

he has poor motor control in his hands.....so he will not practice at all. He needs to effectively at least know how to do it...makes for a challenge for soccer

I got pulled away before responding, Karen, so first of all.... :wave2:

I hope that things calm down for you soon. Ditto to Stephanie and Terri though. I hope you can work it all out!

Kristine, I hope you survive the packing mode. Your one last big hurdle to make it to the plane.

Now that makes sense. I can understand that reasoning. Becky was a very slow learner on tying her shoes. I didn't think she would ever learn! It drove me crazy.

Well, I guess I need to head to bed. Actually, Terra needs to head to bed so I'm going to go read and ponder Sept. Hopefully I'll have an inkling what I want to do by morning so that I can talk to Chanon about any needed changes. Have a good night everyone!

DS was never really interested in tying his shoes, so he wasn't very young when he learned how to do it. It takes him a long time to tie them, so it makes sense to have shoes he doesn't have to tie.

I'm worn out. So much is going on at work and others aren't dealing with things in a timely fashion so it ends up being a mess for the staff. Friday I had to escalate two serious issues which delayed a project for this week and will hopefully get things completed in time so that the project next week isn't postponed. I came home and slept for two hours. It was pure and simple emotional exhaustion.
