Don't they have ATMs where you are going? ;)

Yes, but I won't travel with my ATM card.

:rotfl2: :rotfl: :rotfl2:

I am so glad you and Elizabeth have found one another, Deb. ;) :lmao:

Deb, I hope you are feeling better about your trip now! :)

I love to read your "half-full" posts, Stephanie. You have a knack of saying things so well. I would not do so well. I would probably make people angry. :lmao:

I am a silver-lining kind of person too, and often want to respond that things will be fine. However, my two lovely, loving daughters often tell me that my expressing my eternally optimistic, rosy view of the world is not always appreciated by someone who is down in the dumps or needing to work things out verbally. :confused3 Who knew?? :rotfl2: So, I often keep my comments to myself so that I don't tread on anyone's mental brainstorming. ;)

But, Elizabeth... (listen to Stephanie! )

Thank you, Stephanie!
And thank you, too, Elin! I know that everyone here wants to help whenever another one of us is sad/angry/frustrated and even if I don't get happy after reading the posts I would certainly never be upset by your sunny outlook and encouraging words! :goodvibes

Let go Elizabeth! It is a very hard thing to do but for you & your mom, you need to learn to do so. Like you said, she is your mother and DS's grandmother. You need to have pleasant memories for how ever long that is. You aren't going to change her. It is too late in her life for that.

I know. I am trying.

Anne Marie - What a wonderful picture you found! :goodvibes

What a neat photo!

Well, technically, Alan is Marci's payee, so guardianship is just a small step away. I honestly don't know what will happen with Marci, but I just can't deal with any more crap!

I hope your MIL goes off with her new DH and leaves everybody alone!

I am catching up about 5 pages at a time. Never fear, I'll be done shortly!

Memorial day.

Remember to thank a Veteran.

I have an hope that you pass my thanks on to any of your loved ones that have served.

We are back from urgent care and Molly has Hand, Foot and Mouth disease.

That's what Colby had. Around here they don't even keep you out of school with it. They said it is very hard to catch from others :confused3 Colby caught it somewhere. Now I'm wondering if Nick might have it as he has a few spots on his legs and feet and is complaining of a very sore throat. He has been in his room most of the day. He plans to go to school tomorrow as he has a lacrosse game tomorrow night.

Very nice :thumbsup2

Always! You have been so busy lately that I don't see you enough! Could you please stop having a real life so your online friends have some of your time? :lmao:

I wish real life would slow down a bit, but then I guess I'd be worrying about my trip :rotfl: I'm too busy now to even think about it.

Aren't they! I have this really good friend who made a design for me. She is awesome! I wish I saw/read more of her. :rotfl:

I know the feeling......

I will be so happy to be on the airplane...all this buying before the trip is going to put me over the edge. Next time I am going to hire someone to take Christopher shoe shopping....40 pairs later, he still couldn't find something to his liking. At one point I broke out in prayer to help me get through this. :rotfl:

40 pairs :drinking1

Thanks everyone for the get well wishes for Mo. She seems to be fine for the most part, except when the fever spikes. She then just loses all her energy and wilts. Since she can't go back to school tomorrow I shut down daycare. I am sure it will throw the boys' dad into a fit but oh well!

I found that keeping Colby on Ibuprophen around the clock for a few days made a huge difference.

I'm exhausted, but caught up here again. I probably won't last long, but I need a break and couldn't think of anything I'd rather do :goodvibes

We started in around 8:30 this morning. We worked ALL day and both my parents and my brother helped. The kitchen is painted and the flooring is installed in that area. I still have some touch up to do and the baseboards to reinstall, but it looks awesome. It will take days to get everything moved back in there, but it is a huge improvement over where we were. I'm hoping to get the decorative painting finished this week and then we can install the rest of the flooring on Saturday. The next 2 days are super busy with appointments, games and everyday things, but hopefully I will make progress on Thursday and Friday. I can pick away at little things the next couple of days while I'm here. Did I mention that it looks awesome. I'd post pictures, but there is still way too much mess to do so. I'm just glad to have the stove and refrigerator back in place after only 24 hours :cool1:

Thanks, Janet. She is a WonderWoman! She has been fighting colon cancer for decades and keeps bouncing back. When Bob got home she had just finished hanging new curtains in his old room and was cooking one of his favorite meals. It is my opinion that one reason she is so resilient is so that my FIL doesn't worry about her. She has always been a SAHM and has taken care of her five men 24/7; that is her duty and she loves it. Bob's Dad will be 91 in August and she will be 82 in December. They have been married 59 years! We are all hoping to be at their 60th wedding anniversary in April 2009. :goodvibes

Elin, I am glad Bob's mom is doing better!

Robyn - great pictures. Lucy is so adorable. I'll post some of mine later.

Cute pics!!

I would say that contractions during childbirth are just as painful but you get moments of respite between them where you can catch your breath. So to me, the kidney stone was much worse because the pain just never went away.

Lindsay, I am sorry that happened! How scary! I hope you are feeling better and are getting things ready for your trip!!

Nice to see you Theresa. I'm sorry to hear about your fight with the laundry. I hope that you don't need medical attention but if it is needed I'm glad you told Jim to take you! :grouphug:  pixiedust:

Theresa, I hope your wrist is feeling better! I came home thinking laundry wouldn't be a big priority, but then I realized none of DS's uniform pants are clean. :headache: So now I am doing laundry.

Happy Anniversary Glynis and Alan. Many more years than 18 years double, triple!!!!!!

Happy Anniversary, Glynis & Alan!! :goodvibes

I have been doing laundry since I got home from work & I am still not done :sad2:

Awesome deal on the trees, I always love a bargain!

Hope Molly feels better tomorrow :wizard:

Boo for laundry!
Yay for bargain trees!

We are back from urgent care and Molly has Hand, Foot and Mouth disease.

Yikes! I hope she is feeling better! :wizard:

I know the feeling......

We can send him shoe shopping with DH because it sounds like they are cut from the same cloth! :rotfl:

Hi Elizabeth!

Welcome home Elizabeth!

Welcome home Elizabeth!

welcome home Elizabeth!!

Glad you are back safely. Dare I ask how it all went?

Thanks, everyone! :)

There are lots of DVC members here. Has anyone heard if there will be a summer party this year? last year they did Summer on the Savannah, but I haven't heard anything this year.

Nope, nothing. And nothing on their website either.

I haven't seen anything either. They had parties the last 2 summers, but I can't seem to locate the dates for previous years. Maybe they aren't doing anything this summer :confused3

Our weekend was good.

Our flight up there was fine. I had never flown AA Eagle before. They take your carry-on away when you get on the plane! That just surprised me. There are only overhead bins on one side, so they take all the big bags and "valet" check them. When we got to KC the guy in front of me got his bag back and it was DESTROYED. He was FURIOUS! My bag was a little dirty, but not damaged.

My cousin, her DH, and their DD14 were there to greet us. We went to a museum for the Steamboat Arabia. It sank in the river in 1856, then the river changed course so it was buried in a cornfield. A group of guys dug it up in 1988 and put all of the artifacts in a museum. VERY cool! But DS was complaining of stomach pain and he looked really uncomfortable so our museum visit was cut short. It was pelvic pain, which shouldn't happen in boys so I was a little freaked out. No fever, no other pain. :confused3 We went back to the house and he rested about 10 minutes and he felt fine. We all went out for lunch, then he went home with my cousin's DD & DH and she and I went to Cosco. Her DH's DB & SIL came over for dinner - the guys grilled. It was fun. DS played on the trampoline, played basketball, never said his stomach hurt again. Whatever.

The next morning we went and picked up my cousin's dad and we all went to breakfast. DS loves her dad because he is an avid baseball card collector. At breakfast my cousin's DH wasn't feeling well. He took their DD back home and she took DS and me to my mom's house. My mom put 2 brand new tires on her ancient, rattletrap car instead of buying a different one. :rolleyes1 She dorve her car out to the lake and we survived, so that was good. The lake was fun. My uncle has a new pontoon boat (exactly like the Epcot cruise ones) so we took turns riding in the boat. There was also a paddle boat, fishing poles, some hammocks, lots of food, LOTS of people. When my mom's eldest sister died her DH got into a relationship with a lady who had been a dear friend of theirs for many years, and the lake cabin is hers. So I got to see 3 cousins, their kids, and a bunch of people I don't know! It wasn't nearly as hot and humid as it could have been, and we only stayed a few hours. That night I took my mom, DS and Diva Girl to Olive Garden. Then we came home and Mom and DS and I played Yahtzee. Mom's dining room table is buried under claim forms she hasn't filed. I asked her if she wanted me to help her fill them out, she said no, I let it go.

This morning my aunt was supposed to take us to Lawrence, KS because she was meeting a friend for lunch. My cousin was going to get us and take us to the airport. She lives in KC so Lawrence is closer for her than Topeka. My aunt phoned at 10 AM and said my cousin's DH was going to the ER because he felt worse and worse after breakfast on Sunday. My mom decided to drive us to the airport herself. Luckily we made it there and she made it back without her car breaking down! We got to the airport 3 hours before our flight but that wasn't too bad. On the way to the airport my cousin called and said her DH was having a heart attack! Luckily they were able to clear the blockage with a balloon (the main artery was blocked, and it had been going on since yesterday morning! :scared1: ) so he'll be in the cardiac unit a couple of days and then should be able to come home. Their DD leaves in the morning to go to FL with her friend so when I talked to my cousin tonight she was rushing to do last minute stuff for her DD.

It wasn't a bad trip. I am glad we went. Diva Girl is completely obtuse about everything - she is worried about getting to and from band camp. Hello? Our mom has CANCER. If you don't make it to band camp then you don't make it. Her attitude boggles my mind. I realized July 4 will be a 3 day weekend for me, but DH will be mad if he gets the weekend off and I leave. I told him we can all go up there but he doesn't want to spend the money on airfare. I guess we'll see what they say when Mom FINALLY has her surgical consult and go from there.

I don't think they are doing them this year....too bad...I would have liked to attend one

hang in there Elizabeth! I wish I could tell you the process gets easier....you will eventually be able to go on automatic pilot...you have to for your own sake

I have been following a few threads on the DVC board where people have asked about it, but nobody seems to have heard anything. :confused3

Welcome home, Elizabeth!

Thanks! :)
New laptops are fun! I hope Kristin enjoys hers!

My mom was pretty cooperative. We didn't get into any big arguments, but I didn't start any. I asked Diva Girl this morning if she understands Mom's diagnosis and what comes next. Nope. She hasn't done any research or reading, knows nothing, and is just planning to "go with the flow". Perfect. Mom said my middle sister isn't coming (for the surgery, or anything else) so it is certainly a good thing ONE of us is taking an interest!

Elizabeth - it sounds like you had a nice visit with family, even though life still looms overhead.

:yay:

So did you lay it all out for DivaGirl and explain everything in simple language so she knows what will be coming in the future?

:yay:

Yes, but she doesn't care about any aspect of it other than how it will negatively impact HER activities. She nods and says she understands, but that's not her concern. Her concern is how does this situation inconvenience HER, and how can she manipulate Mom into doing things for her even if it is against medical advice.
Mom said instead of driving to band camp, going back at noon to pick her up, taking her back after the 2 hour break, and going back again to pick her up at the end that she will stay and watch! Um, NO, because people undergoing chemo can not tolerate being in the HEAT for several hours! But Diva Girl will push the issue, and whine, and make Mom so miserable that Mom will do anything just to get Diva Girl to shut up. Diva Girl won't care that Mom will be under orders NOT to drive, won't care that the heat will make Mom worse, won't care about anything but herself. And that's how Mom encourages her to be!
