DDA Chapter 8

Sorry, Vicki!
You guys will have a magical trip! You have put a TON of effort and thought into this trip, and your niece and nephew are going to have the time of their lives! Imagine what joy your sister will have seeing her children so utterly happy! :goodvibes And you and your mom enjoy being together, so I know you will have a wonderful time!

Obviously you don't know my mom and sister! :lmao:

My sister is a high-strung person on a good day. With all that has been happening in the last two years which culminated in the trial, you can imagine what state she is in now. At least there was a positive outcome and they can start the healing process.

Mom is retiring next Friday to go help my sister out for the summer. Mom is terrified to retire. However, she isn't happy in her job anymore anyway. She is 65 years old. She could have retired 10 years ago and had planned to until my father died.

We're worried that my mom isn't going to be able to handle all the walking. We've been after her to walk every day for the last 6 months on her treadmill. Of course, she didn't. She is quite overweight and very out of shape.

We are going in knowing that it is going to probably be a stressful time but we'll make it as good as we can.

The ibuprophen has worn off so now my back is aching. Aren't viruses fun :sad2: I took Tylenol PM a few minutes ago so I will hopefully be sleepy soon.

We're watching Karate Kid now. Boy the 80s had such wonderful styles

Borrow a wheelchair for your Mom from your resort. That way she will be able to sit when needed. The supplies at the resorts are limited so if you think you might need one put in a request as soon as you get there.

It's a long weekend so make the most of it. Perhaps a call to the niece and nephew will put you into the packing mood.

We will definitely be calling them this week-end. We need to make sure that they are packing too! We are going to have so much fun with them!!!!! When things get stressful, I'll be reminding myself of that as often as needed to get myself relaxed again.

5 weeks from now we will hopefully be half way to WDW :cool1:

Chuck has threatened that. If we suspect it is an issue at all, we will definitely be doing that.

Caught up on the other thread, now I am here :)

Thank you all for the compliments on Garrett :goodvibes

Vicki - Well, I can be a bit high strung depending on the situation. And for some reason my mother brings out the worst in me! I tell myself to be patient with her and let her do things her own way but her inability to make good choices makes me so ANGRY!

Diva Girl's selfish wish list is always first, above and beyond all else. BOTH of them need counseling but neither one will go. My mother has bills piling up but she won't file her medical claims, won't file her income tax and won't cash in the life policy she has on me. I suspect she has a life policy on my middle sister, too. Her car is a death trap yet she just keeps making little repairs and spending more and more money. Her cell phone isn't under contract - it's with Sprint. Diva Girl's cell phone is with AT&T so it costs them minutes to talk to each other! I offered to go with my mom to get an AT&T phone. For the activation fee ($26) she could have a brand new handset and since we are AT&T customers ALL of our calls to each other would be free. But NOOO! She doesn't want to get into a 2 year contract because she doesn't know what will happen yet. She didn't sign a new lease at the end of March because she was waiting for more test results. Hello? She's not going to move no matter how advanced the cancer is! She doesn't understand that she can't just write them a little Post It saying she hasn't decided what to do with her lease! :headache:

She doesn't want to spend time with me because I stress her out. She thinks of me like one of those MILs so many of the DDAers have! :rotfl: If I am not there then I can't talk to her about her bills or her phone or the insurance or anything else unpleasant. I interfere with the view through her rose colored glasses. On the other hand, she is DS's only grandparent and she is my mom and I love her and care about her so I want to see her. Unfortunately I can't seem to keep quiet about all the things she isn't getting around to addressing.

Deb - I would worry if DS was traveling separately. But your boys will have an adult with them, and they will be fine! :thumbsup2

Jen - Are you too excited to sleep? I took a little nap on the couch and now I am wide awake.

Good--becaue i cant sleep haha

I couldn't the last couple of nights...might actually head off soon....Adventures in Babysitting is calling my name...might sleep too...strange thing.;)

Are you excited for your cruise??

10 weeks from now we'll be spending our first night at AKL concierge. :goodvibes

Deb, 5 weeks sounds better than 10.

Vicki, 2 weeks sounds better than 5.

Jen, cruising tomorrow sounds best of all!

Denise I really hope his guy was fired! Sorry your last day at the school had to end on such a sour note

Ok, about the Pizza Hut guy. We ordered pizza for our class party. The PH delivery guy calls and is lost  and has no idea where we are. He says I am wrong, I'm an idiot, I have the wrong address, his GPS doesn't show it... so I say where are you? He was literally sitting next to the church and had no idea. :sad2: So I call the PH and speak to the manager about how rude he is, belligerent, calling me names. Manager comps the pizza. I tell the delivery guy and he is FURIOUS (no tip). I finally say I'm going to have to escort you out of the school. he is yelling, calling me names, saying it's my fault I didn't put a church on the order on-line (I did). We were walking down the hall and he goes the wrong way. I put my hand on the middle of his back (teacher habit) to guide him down the other hall. He stops, starts shaking his fists at me and yelling about not touching him, very threatening. He was totally out of control. All the church admin hear and come out. They make sure he leaves. He flies out of the parking lot (with kids outside). Call back and talk to the manager. Manager very apologetic and says he'll take care of it. I was really scared. The guy was big and didn't speak English very well. I know I shouldn't have touched his back, but it was an innocent habit (like I guide the kids). I seriously thought he was going to deck me. :headache: Between that, being very sad (cried a lot) over leaving my job and friends, and the kids last day, I am exhausted and headed to bed soon.

But the good news is that it is SUMMER VACATION!!

Elizabeth I hope you wake up tomorrow snit free :teeth: :goodvibes

Denise - That must have been so scary! :scared1: I hope the manager dealt with the guy when he got back!
I am just in a big snit today. If things don't go well in August we will find a way to work around it. I'll bring some Alamo codes/coupons with me and I can book a car from the Dolphin on my laptop. If we have a bad experience at the resorts we will talk to a manager while we are still onsite and follow up with a letter. I am sure whatever issues we have can be minimized if I don't freak out. But like I said, today I am in a snit. :snooty:

i am so excited! I am packed, ready to go, and exhausted! But i dropped my brother and his friend at their friends house for a couple hours and need to pick them up in a hour or so..so here i am haha

Tell the boys congratulations! :cheer2:

I'm feeling a bit better, but not 100%. I got the boys to their game and THEY WON!!! Both boys played well and Hunter came so close to making a goal. The coach says that he's going to call him one inch until he makes his first goal. :rotfl: Since he is the smallest on the team all of the parents on the sidelines are praying for him to score. When he got close and made the shot they were all on their feet and when it hit the top crossbar the was a huge Owwww. He's pretty excited that he has his own fan club.

We are now sitting down as a family and watching National Treasure 2. It's a pretty good movie so far.
