DDA Chapter 6

So, Miss Becky... you are now working on your graduate degree, right? And is it in a field that you love?

Yes I am working on a master's degree. Yes and no, I love the field that the degree will be in. That is non-profit management. I do not necessarily love the classes in and of themselves though. Then again I have basically only taken like the financial type classes. Which are not my cup of tea. In the long run it is a field that I love, helping others and changing lives by allowing people to discover and experience their passions, giving them experiences they might not otherwise have.

I truly feel so many kids do graffiti, get involved in the wrong crowd, cause trouble in school because they do not have access to programs to explore their passions. Especially with schools cutting music, PE, art, home science, agricultural science, tech ed, theater and other programs due to budget cuts. Also if the schools are not totally eliminating these things a kid picks one and can not do more then one because their is such a focus on tests. I feel it is vital that kids have exposure to all areas so that they can decide what they are truly passionate about, instead of just picking one thing and always being stuck in art class because that was their interest in 7th grade when they had to pick an elective.

But I want to use all my interests and passions to put together a non-profit organization to allow kids the opportunity to explore these areas. Whether it it through a center, camp, after school program, home school program, etc I do not know. But I want to give them free and low cost exposure to areas and interests they might not otherwise have exposure to.

The DDA Appliance Curse has hit our house. My 27 year old washer no longer wants to play. So, we are faced with shopping for something that I really don't give a hoot in Hades about. Under $400 is my only criteria... :rotfl:

We also really need to look at purchasing another car. I hate car shopping. Yes, you read that right... ELIN HATES SHOPPING FOR SOMETHING! I want a convertible. But I hate the shopping part of it. I also know that we really need two newer vehicles so I hesitate to splurge on that coveted topless one. ;)
If you find a good deal and you like it, let me know. I'm going to need one soon. Washer, that is.

Chanon, I just noticed that it is only 182 days until your wedding.... are you ready to make your ADRs?? ;)
Of course she's ready. Why do you think she was asking our opinions on the menus???? :lmao:

What a busy day we've had. Nicholas' team tied, 0-0. They all played really well, and he had a good time. From there we came home, Bob stayed with the kids and I went to the grocery store. Nicholas was to be at a friend's house at 11, then the rest of us went to a craft fair. I don't know why I get sucked into those. They never have anything that knocks my socks off. Alyssa had a bday party at Chuck E. Cheese at 2, and now we are home. Bob is mowing my grass  and I'm doing laundry and DISing. Sshhhhh....don't tell him. ;)

I hope everyone is having a great weekend!

AMEN, sister! I hope you find a way to start your NPO and have tons of financial backing. I would work for you... if you are in Florida!

Do you want a stripped down model like I do or one with more bells and whistles? I figure you have at least 20 more years of using a washer than I do! :rotfl:

Yes, but is she READY?!? :rotfl2:

that does sound like a lovely weekend so far. I opted NOT to go to the craft fair at the Expo Center. I still have beads here that are calling my name! And one of the necklaces I want to make I have to have done my September. :rotfl:

When Bob is done, send him over. Both our riding lawn mower and the push mower refused to start this morning! Chanon... I hope you get me a bigger discount on this September trip! :lmao:

I use xtra large load, wash/rinse/spin. Occasionally I will use extra rinse if I have put in too much soap. :rolleyes1 Oh, and I need the auto fabric softener dispenser. Those are all the bells and whistles I need.

I think they got slammed....and I am feeling that existing members were pretty annoyed by the new deal. I signed on in the beginning and spent quite a bit for the premium plan...I know they have given away various items since...so I can see in a way why some people would get the shorts in a knot....as for me.....I just like the locker :)

The other one was a 2nd trip free for life. This is much less of a deal than the one that was only available for a day.

OK, I will let you know what I find. so far, about $379 will get me what I need at regular price. But, according to many things I have read, April is a good month to buy a washer because the new models will be released so there ought to be sales at some point. So, I am trying to hold off buying until one of those comes along. I take my clothes to a former students' parents' laundromat and do the washing there (20 minutes total) and bring them back here to dry.

Anne Marie sorry your tummy is not feeling well

Jen :yay: for getting your new computer!

Vicki I hope all the snow is gone before your camping trip :wizard: Did you order a Donner bag?

Elin good luck finding a washing machine!

Tammi sounds like you have had a great day!

Becky hope your day is going better for you :wizard:

Yes, I understand why they did it. I wasn't upset with them. Just disappointed that I was silly and didn't just act when I saw the great deal.

I went to order the Donner bag and the discount is no longer valid. I'm looking to see if I can find another one today before I order. Another dumb thing that I should have just jumped on when the deal was available. I really need to learn!

Have you ordered from here before? I thought I read that 1st time buyers could get a 10% discount.

No, I have not. I was going to try that as long as it isn't tied to getting a credit card which it looked like it might be.

ETA: For the 10%, your order must be more than $100.

You guys are too funny! No I'm not ready for the wedding. At all. As for ADR's for dinner - Yep! Ready for that and that date is April 15th. :teeth:

Yes, but is she READY?!? :rotfl2:
Yes and no. I think I'm getting freaked out over the little things and I know I won't care in the long run. (Like the apps on the menu. I'm at the "I don't care right now" spot on those.) But I've learned to go crying to Bob and he makes everything better.
