DDA Chapter 5

Yea! Now relax please, I promise the Evilbay police will not come looking for you ;)

OK, well, the deed is done!:confused3
I called the number from eBay and I got a generic answering machine - I don't even know if I reached the right person. So I retracted the bid. I am sure I will hear from the (irate) seller now.
I do feel like I tried to correct it the proper way, but he is either too busy to respond or wasn't interested in canceling the bid. At least now the auction still has more than 48 hours left so other people can bid on the item. I am sure I will get some sort of nasty notice from eBay shortly.

I'm glad you finally did it. :wizard: that it goes smoothly from here on out.

...so 87 out of our 88 counties are now under a winter storm watch. ;)
We had friends driving up from Columbus to Cleveland that got on the freeway and got off at the next exit and went right back home. She couldn't see the roads, lines or the car in front of her.

Drive safe everyone if you're out in this stuff!

Hello, DDA!

I think I'm just about back into the real world. My fever finally broke yesterday, and now I'm just left with a regular cold. I feel much better. I ended up not working on Wednesday or Thursday. I went in on Wednesday morning, and my friend sent me home. We teach a 2's class that has an adult with the child, so it wasn't a huge deal for her to be alone...just more work. There was a board/staff meeting after classes, so she told me she would make sure that they found someone to sub for me on Thursday. Apparently, it wasn't easy, but they did it. That is something that really needs to change. If you are running a 102+ temp and can barely function, you shouldn't be working with preschoolers.

Today my co-teacher got a call during work that her father fell from a train while he was working and broke both knee caps and his collarbone. He also hit his head but fortunately not enough to cause any brain trauma. I don't know his name, but I'm sure that he and the family could use some prayers. He is in the hospital now, and it will be quite a while before he is back to work.

We are under a flood watch and a winter weather advisory for the next day or so. I just want winter to go away! We are supposed to get rain to start, then freezing rain and sleet/snow. We were supposed to travel about 2 hours tomorrow to a swim meet for Miles (Winter Championships), but that area is under a winter storm warning for a lot more snow and freezing rain. It isn't worth taking a risk, so it looks like we probably won't be going. He's young, and he won't feel too bad about missing it.

I need to go back and read, but right now I need a nap.

pixiedust: and  to all who need them!

Sorry for the uber long post... I was back on page 5!

Here are some photos.

These are the 4th of July shirts. I made 11 of these

These are the ones that I had to touch up. Hopefully you can't tell where.
These go with the swirl mickey top that I made.

These are the shirts to match the AK shirts I made for Chris and I

This is Logan's Birthday shirt

I think I've had enough creativity for one day

Deb, they are all fantastic! I especially love the coordination of your shirts and the boys'!

Just a fly by post to say we are having a magical time as usual. I hope to be on later tonight to fill you in on our trip so far. We are off to 1900 Park Fare for dinner with the stepsisters and stepmother. We had our segway tour this morning. Bad weather is on its way in tonight. Hopefully, it will pass quickly. If not, I'm still at Disney and a little bad weather isn't going to dampen my mood!

I'm glad you're having (had?) such a great time!

Jennifer, I have no advice for you, but I wanted to send a hug and let you know that I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers. Feeling so overwhelmed must be awful. You are already such a good mommy!

Jennifer- I really don't have any advice for you but just know that you and your princesses (Kyle too) are in my thoughts. You really do have a lot on your plate so please just take care of yourself.

Thanks! I'm just thrilled it's finally Friday.... another week down!

So the last few days have just been a blur. Joe left yesterday morning. Then it was soccer and Dr. Seuss night at Emma's school. That was a lot of fun. The PTA set up 6 or 7 different workshops and the kids/parents rotated between each of them. My mom came up with my niece and took the girls around. I volunteered and we made edible Cat in the Hat hats- ritz cracker, red life savers and white frosting. Very cute!!

Today has been Not bad just not normal. Molly has used the potty all day. (I refuse to get too excited, but it's progress).

Emma and I went to the funeral home for my aunt's viewing. What saddened me most is seeing my uncle. He is just lost. He told me that she was his rock and his heart. It's sad that 75+ years together was not enough for him. Their love is the kind you don't see everyday. Tomorrow I feel is going to be gut wrenching.

I am off for a bit to get into my pj's and get dinner. I'll check back in.

It was okay--not my thing...I am going going to continue doing my kickboxing dvd and work out at home..I just didnt think the class was worth the money..

BUT i did the class last night, plus worked out for an hour today!

Yeah, i was kind of disappointed that I didnt like it better--but i figured that doesnt mean i cant still work out..Im so frustrated with my weight that i know i can keep it up--and save money!

I also decided that if i am still doing my working out in 3 months (the length of time the kickboxing class was for)--im treating myself to a massage as a "reward"

Great job with your workout(s)! It sounds like you have an excellent incentive planned!

I'm finally here on Chapter 5! I just finished catching up on Chapter 4, and don't have time to start here tonight. Hopefully I'll catch up to y'all tomorrow. I have got to remember to check in on the weekends! Otherwise, I spend most of the week playing catch up! Although, in my defense, I've had sick kids since Saturday night, and no relief in sight! Can I just say I HATE THE FLU?!!!!

Talk to you in the morning!

Ugh. I was glad to read on that your family is starting to be on the mend... I hope it's for a LONG time!

I know, I know! I'll work on it today. However, I got online this morning to make sure I posted this just for you! Becky had the perfect tank that fit perfectly underneath. The shirt was just a little big on her and would gape (is that a word?) at the front. Plus, she is not one to wear low cut shirts anyway. This worked perfectly.

This was Saturday morning at our Tusker House breakfast. The food was delicious. Yummy!

They look great!

2 months from today I will be at Disney
Bernadette are you getting just as excited?

How exciting! :yay:

I need to vent a bit. Chris and I went on our weight watcher's diet full force Monday morning. I even gave up ALL soda, even my beloved diet cherry pepsi. I'm drinking as much water as I can and supplementing with crystal light. I have been sure not to go over my points, so why is it that I haven't lost ANY weight :confused3 Chris has lost, though he won't tell me how much as he knows that I will be mad that he can lose at the drop of a hat.
I guess I'll just keep on swimming.

Vent over return to your regularly scheduled DDAing

 It is so frustrating dieting with men. I remember my mom going through the same thing, then having the same problem with Kyle. They just lose it so much easier, always. Please try not to be too hard on yourself!

Public Service Announcement:

Colby watched the Today show this morning and he learned that we should not eat burritos. Why you might ask...well there was a lady on the show that wanted to have one baby so she had a burrito and then she had three babies at one time...

She had in vitro not a burrito I get tears from laughing so hard at his interpretation

:rotfl:

Hi everyone! Back from Vegas! Too short of a trip, that's for sure. The Wynn is beautiful, Spamalot was awesome and The Buffet at the Wynn was delish! Took us an hour and a half to get home from the airport - normally a 40 minute drive. Ice was horrible! We couldn't see any lines on the freeway and almost hit a tree on a road close to home. Lost power about midnight and didn't come back on until 10:30am this morning. I'll have photos up later tonight if I get a chance after class.

Welcome back! Wonderful pictures! :goodvibes

They are giving 4 lithos/prints from the movie if you pre-order Enchanted, like they did for 101 Dalhmantions. Check with your Disney Store, I would think its a store-wide thing & not just here in NY. 3 of the prints are live & 1 is the animated Giselle & Prince Edward.

I think that TDS does this for every movie, and has for as long as I remember. I definitely could be wrong though, because we refuse to pay the price they ask for "free" pictures we don't need! :rotfl:

Welcome home...looking forward to seeing your photos!

I'm hoping someone buys Enchanted for Alyssa's birthday since I've already bought some books and puzzles for their Easter baskets. Somehow I've managed to resist the lure of the Reeses peanut butter eggs so far this season!

Elizabeth, learn their names!

I don't think David H. (stripper dude) has an attitude but Danny boy sure does (and a flamboyant one at that). I also liked David Cook's version of "Hello." It's hard to deny that David A. has talent, but he's just too goody goody for me. I know he's only 17, but I prefer "bad boys." (Except bad boys who max my credit cards, which is why my mom prayed for me to marry a good boy like Kevin )

The judges are often clueless (well, Paula is always clueless ;) ). Last night Randy compared Michael Johns to Michael Hutchence (INXS) which was weird after he just sang a Simple Minds song.

I hope DS wasn't teased about his glasses today. :wizard:

Be careful Deb...hope it's a good night at work.

What grade syrup do you all make? (See I learned something today!)

I had a PB egg, and couldn't eat it after 1 little nibble. Cadbury Mini Eggs, though, still taste great!

shocker's paw print

 What wonderful ways to remember Shocker! :goodvibes

So, I guess I win the Dumb--s award for today. After getting up at 3:30 am and getting to work at 5:00 am I went to punch in, and the computer told me that I was not scheduled to work. I completely forgot that I was supposed to be OFF today,

Oh no! I have to admit I chuckled a bit at this... I hope you were able to get a lot accomplished since you were up so early!

Work was DEAD tonight. I managed to do 11 meals compared to 26 last night. What's worse is that most people were tipping 10% at best. It is so strange how that tends to happen all in one night. I did have 3 customers who raved about me to the management...they left me $5 total

The roads are fairly dry so I had no problems getting home. I have to wonder how the back roads are though.

How odd that they would compliment you and still be so stingy! What a disappointing night! :sad2:

I was very productive yesterday... I got our taxes done!

Even better is that we are getting a fairly large refund because of Kristin's education expenses. I told Bob we ought to enjoy it because chances are that is the last one we will see in a while!

:( I haven't submitted our taxes yet. We have always gotten a decent return, and I expected another large one this year because of the fortune we've spent on interest for the house. To my surprise, we are BARELY getting anything back. We don't owe anything, but all of the money I was counting on for the babies certainly isn't coming! I refused to submit it, although I'm not sure what I think I'm going to find by redoing it over and over. :sad2:

Happy Thursday, DDA!

Stephanie and Terry - I bought tickets for Jonathan and I to go to MagicMeets as well! I can't believe it sold out in less than 48 hours! I am planning my July schedule around heading out there, and just hope we don't have to cancel. I think it will be so fun to attend, and I was almost a little shocked that Jonathan wanted to go, too. He wants to see if he can volunteer his photography skills for the day.

Well, I need to get my nose back to the grindstone. I am so glad tomorrow is Friday!

Ooh, you guys will have so much fun! :goodvibes

The eBay retraction rules do not allow retractions for bids made by idiots. It was a legitimate bid, and eBay will know that if they investigate it. Retracting it is a violation of eBay policy unless the seller agrees to it.

I hope this has resolved itself finally. I kept reading along, and have to say that I was in the minority. I think I would have had a hard time retracting. I hope it blows over without too much difficulty!

DS got a 100% on his Greece project.

It is showing as counting for 3 separate grades, but DS said she told them it counts for SIX! I'm thinking those kids who turned in nothing are sorry now!

DH and I are not speaking to each other. I hope you guys are going to be around tonight so I am not lonely.

Hooray for DS' project!

That's the wierd thing. They were burned to disc along with at least 5 other folders. It was all done in one burn session and 5 folders are readable and the other 4 aren't. Phil even double checked them but only on his computer (the now dead one) so evidently they were all readable on his computer, but aren't on the others. I'm going to make an extra disc copy to store at Kristi's house as well.

I'm glad you were able to get some of the pictures back! I was very good about burning onto discs, but I'm a bit behind. I think I'm going to get a second external hard drive (I have one for scrapbook stuff) for my pictures. I keep saying that, anyway...

Thank you Tia. I have no kids. But I made my 4yo neice a DisneyHolic also. She is now 18 and trying for an internship at Disney. She's just waiting to hear from her interview. I have also made another neice a Disneyholic, she is 7 now, and being Disney with me since she was 3. Her little brother,I'm working on. I made flash cards with the Disney characters on it and we practice who they are. He's 3. I also have a neice 1 1/2. I'm teaching her the characters. I think she needs a set of flash cards!

I'm on the Disboutique thread. I even sew Disney. DN MUST have Disney outfits for our vacations!! I'm working on Pink Cinderella (like the mice helped make) dress for dinner with Lady Tremaine for starters.

I personally see nothing wrong with this. So why do my sisters say I need a 12 step program?

Hi! Do stick around.... we are a friendly bunch! :goodvibes I'm Jennifer, married to Kyle, and we're expecting 2 princesses this summer! We're on a bit of a WDW hiatus while we wait for them, which is tough!

John's MRI was normal. Good news, but frustrating as they still have no ideas what's going on. He goes back to the ENT tomorrow afternoon. My grandmother's surgery is at 8:30am tomorrow. My parents were in route to her house when I talked to them tonight. I'll keep you posted.

 I'm glad his MRI didn't find anything bad.... I know how frustrating it can be to have no answers, though!

Good Morning.

We are expecting a nasty LONG storm to hit here around 5 PM tonight. It is supposed to continue without break until sometime Sunday morning. We are in the unknown zone. It could be a mix of snow and sleet/freezing rain or it could be all rain/sleet. There are Winter storm warning and flood warnings. When is this ever going to end :confused3 I need to see sunshine and get outside to enjoy days and exercise. I have no motivation to do anything inside. I should be painting and installing flooring, but I just have no motivation.

That's about where we stand. Patches of the area are going to get 5-7 inches of snow and about 1.5 inches of ice. Other patches are expecting 10 inches of snow, but only a little ice. We usually get more of everything at my house (being farther north, and in a totally flat area)... we shall see! I stripped the shoes and pants at the door when I got home (a few hours early! ) and put on PJ pants. It would be so nice to keep them on all weekend ;) but Kyle and I have to go to the rehearsal dinner and wedding this weekend. I feel awful for Kelly's timing.... I am quite sure a lot of people won't come! :(

nd to all who need them!

I hope you got your nap, and are on the upswing now! :goodvibes

Boo, I had to delete about 40 smiles from the last post :rotfl:

Kyle is finally home from being on call yesterday, so I'm going to go try and figure out our plans for the evening. I'm not sure a) how early we'll have to leave to get to the rehearsal in this weather and b) how Kyle is going to manage at all after not sleeping for 2 days, and only getting an hour or two nap now

Take care, and I'll see you more this weekend! :goodvibes

Beth, I am glad you took some time off to get better! Don't overdo now that you are finally on the mend!

I took Princess for a stroll at the mall, then she had some chicken nuggets for lunch. When we got back I had an e-mail from the eBay seller saying that I could retract my bid. So that was good, seeing how I had ALREADY done that! So I guess I take the negative hit for retracting a bid instead of him canceling it and having it not show on my record, but hopefully he won't pursue any additional action against me for it.:confused3

I received this in my email and had to share.

Please read the story first and click on the link at the bottom and
enjoy.

The lady in her 30s was a dancer and was trained as one since she was a
little girl. Later she got into some kind of accident and lost her
entire right arm. She was depressed for a few years. It seemed that
someone asked her to coach a Children's dancing group. From that point
on, she realized she could not forget dancing. She still loved to dance.
She wanted to dance again. So she started to do some of her old
routines. But by her losing an arm, she also lost her balance. It took a
while before she could even making simple turns and spins without
falling. Eventually she got it.

Then she heard some guy in his 20s had lost a leg in an accident. This
guy also fell into the usual denial, depression and anger type of
emotional roller coaster. She looked him up (seeming ly he was from a
different Province) and persuaded him to dance with her. He had never
danced. And to dance with one leg? Are you joking with me? No way. But
she didn't give up. He reluctantly agreed. " I have nothing else to do
anyway." She started to teach him dancing 101. The two broke up a few
times because the guy had no concept of using muscle, control his body,
and a few other basic things about dancing. When she became frustrated
and lost patience with him, he would walk out. Eventually they came back
together and started training. They hired a choreographer to design
routines for them. She would fly high (held by him) with both arms (a
sleeve for an arm) flying in the air. He could bend horizontally
supported by one leg and she leaning on him, etc.

They danced beautifully and they legitimately beat others in the
competition.

I would like to share with you this most magnificent and touching
performance I have ever seen! It is living proof that strong spirit
can conquer any physical limitations!

www.youtube.com/watch?v=LnLVRQCjh8c

And the rains keep coming down, down down. Areas are already flooded from the rain earlier this week and we are supposed to get a bunch more rain this weekend.

Have a great weekend.:wave2: :beach: pixiedust: :mic:

Hi ALL!!!

I have read but have a nasty sinus head ache again today.

Denise-glad they didn't find anything serious on John's MRI but hope they can get some answers for him. Good luck to your grandma!:wizard:

Elizabeth-sounds like ebay thing didn't turn out too bad. Congrats to DS on the 100% for the Greece project!!! OH....I meant to tell you if you have a Michaels craft store near you the tri fold project boards(I know that isn't what you used for the Greece project) are so much cheaper there around here than they are at Staples.

Beth-glad you're feeling a bit better. Stay safe this weekend.

It's been a long week at work. I'm glad its over!

Becky - What a neat story! :goodvibes I was surprised that he dances with a crutch instead of wearing a prosthetic leg. I don't know if I ever watching Dancing With the Stars when Heather Mills was on, but apparently she managed!

DH called to say that the gift cards he ordered with the reward points from his credit card arrived. This is good, because the CC is raising his APR to 24.99% and we are going to tell them we do not accept the changes and the account will be closed. At least we won't lose the rewards points!

2 of the cards are for Best Buy. I decided to call and see if they had heard anything about the flash we ordered for the Sony. The guy said it just arrived today! DH is picking DS up from school, then they are going to go get the flash! I REALLY hope it is the right thing and that the price really is $59.99 like it is supposed to be! I am really excited, and it isn't even something I am going to use!

Bernadette - We have JoAnn's, which is in a space that used to be Michael's. It is next door to Staples. The tri-fold boards are cheaper at JoAnn's, but the year I was going to buy one they were all bent. So I went next door to Staples and made them price match.;) I think I bought our Science Fair board at Target this year - can't remember. I now know that JoAnn's has foam core board in LOTS of colors, so if I need another one of those that's where I will go.

Hi, Sally! Welcome to the DDA! :goodvibes Just jump in and you'll catch on. That's how I ended up here 17 months ago.;) We had a monster thread that they locked because of length, so now we are just posting in blocks of 250 pages.

My husband won a Sony Alpha 100 dSLR camera at work. He wants a 70-210mm Minolta lens for it. The lens HAS TO be auto-focus. Because I am an enormous idiot I put a bid in on a manual focus lens. The AF lens is selling on eBay for about $200, so I put in what I thought was a pretty LOW bid only to find out I am bidding on the wrong thing. The Sigma tele-converter for Sony is $200.

I did e-mail the seller and explain that I have to have to AF lens and I would appreciate it if he would cancel my bid. But really, why would he cancel it when he stands to make a lot more money from my mistake than from somebody who actually WANTS that lens?

So we won't have a whole camera to get rid of, only a lens that is in very low demand.

Maybe I should see if I can auction off my PERFECT DH. Somebody MUST need one.

If the seller won't retract the bid. I'd take the lens to a camera shop, in our area, it would be Ritz Camera (just to give you an idea), use it for a trade up for the lens you need. You may not get much, but you'll get something. And don't think you need to get a brand name, like Minolta or Sony. I got an off brand and it takes the most fabulous pictures.

I don't know what your sisters' problems are! All sounds perfectly reasonable to me. I'd love to see the Pink Cinderella when you finish. Sounds perfect for the Park Fare dinner!! I love the designs on the Boutique thread, but my DD is sooo not a frilly, girly girl. She likes to wear a Princess dress to the parks on occassion, but changes back to shorts and tees within a couple of hours. I don't get a chance to visit there often, are there many unfrilled designs I could come and check out? For now we stick with t-shirts and DD wears them constantly. Right now she asks daily how much longer until our next trip (274 days :faint: ) and talks constantly about all of the things she wants to show Daddy on his first trip with us.

Kirsta is 7 now, and it's probably the last year I'll get something frilly on her. She doesn't have much of a home wardrobe since she wears a uniform to school. I usually make Kirsta a calendar so she can X off the days. But she starts a month or so after we are home with "when are going to Disney?". In another year, Lexi will be 3, so I can still make frilly dresses.

Hi Sally! I'm Tammi, and another Disneyholic. I have 2 kids, Nicholas 8 and Alyssa 5. Please jump in the middle of any conversation. We welcome newcomers with open chatting! I would love to see some of the creations you have made.
Thanks for the HI!. Don't want to bore everyone with my pictures, but I will post a few.

Sally, we hope you will stick around and become part of our group! :)

I'm Elizabeth, mom to DS12, wife to Mr. Perfect. I am a professional nanny and currently have one charge, alias Princess, age 2.

Hi Sally, welcome to our crazy group. Jump in anytime.

My name is Terry, and I am the second oldest on this thread (57) and I love Disney. My goal is to get my extended family to WDW in two years when I turn 60. Thankfully DH lets me be me. :lmao:

Hi Sally & :welcome:

I am a disneyoholic myself :yay: My name is Janet, I am the mother of 2 ds, ages 14 & 11. I have been married to dh for 18 years.

I will be taking my 1st solo trip in May :dance3: & I am so excited!

Hi Sally you are in the right place....we are all Disney a holics and don't want a 12 Step program.

I am Theresa and mom to 2 disneyphiles....taking a bit of a breather from the thread as real life is a big ol pain in the tooshie.

We are family here and would love another member. :thumbsup2

Welcome Sally,

We're all Disny-holics here. I'm Debbie, wife to a fellow Disney-holic, and mom to two DD's, 27 and 22. And MawMaw to one very spoiled DGS, he's the light of our life!

:wave2: Welcome, Sally! I am Elin, and love Disney too. Stay and chat... we are a friendly group!

Thanks for not giving Idol away. I'll watch it after Lost goes off.

Work was odd, but I faired pretty well in the end. I also was lucky enough to have someone ask me for the cocktail shift Saturday night which means I have the weekend off. That would not have been a profitable night for me anyway.

Welcome Sally

I am Deb, wife to Chris (aka kitchensinkguy) and mother to my 3 real princes Nick age 12, Hunter age 10 and Colby age 5. We love everything Disney and vacation there as often as possible. Last summer we did a 3 week trip and we have another one planned for this summer. We will bring our camper down and stay at Fort Wilderness for the whole 3 weeks :cool1: . If you post on the boutique thread then you've probably seen my shirts over there. I work evenings as a waitress mostly in an effort to pay for our Disney addiction.

Thanks for all the warm welcomes!! I hope I can keep up with everyone's chatting. I also belong to a bunch of groups at Yahoo. But I'm working on it.

My grandmother did great in surgery. She came home today after the lumpectomy. They will not do any other treatment. The surgeon feels he got it all, but if not, then this is it. Everyone is very pleased with the decision. If he got it all, then he said it would be 5 to 10 years before it came back. She's 85, so that's not really an issue.

John went to the ENT and saw the doctor (not the PA) today. He scoped his sinuses, really listened to him. He diagnosed him with Ageusia, but it's very hard to find the cause. He put him on steroids as it may be inflamed and irriatated nerve endings. If it is the cause, John should see results within 7 days. If it doesn't help, then they will have to explore other possibilities. Thanks for the prayers.

Hi Sally! I'm Chanon, also a disneyholic (I think we all are though on this board... ;) ) and attached to me is myBob - a smart man who proposed to me in front of the Castle. :lovestruc
Just start typing to join in! I've been gone for three days on vacation and haven't caught up so I skipped quite a bit! It really is hard to keep up sometimes...but multiquotes help as well as very good recaps!

Thank you Chanon! I hope I haven't missed anyone. I'd hate to be rude.

Hi, Sally. I'm Denise and mom to the figs (bbg 7-year old triplets). My DH is John. I love Disney as do my kiddos. Welcome!

Triplets!:scared1: How bad is it? I'm really close to Kirsta, she's 7 now. Just after my sister had her, she passed out and they discovered she had a heart defect from birth. They did a heart catherization and all is fine. Not long after that, Renee had to have her gall bladder out. Since she spent so much time, not being able to pick up her new baby, I took care of her.

1st grade has been a nightmare. Kirsta just did not want to go. Every night has been a battle with homework. (my sister, dh and the 2 kids live with us). It was discovered she had enlarged adnoids and tonsils. Kirsta recently had both out and tubes in her ears. She's only been back to school a week, but what a difference in attitude!:cheer2:
