DDA Chapter 4

Debbie - I hope Brandon shakes this bug quickly. The new design is very nice. What would it look like if you removed the characters from the ear and put a fireworks burst in their place?

Thanks, he's sleeping now. I don't know what we'll do about tomorrow if he doesn't make a big recovery this afternoon, I really can't miss any more work and I hate to send him home and spread the bug over there.

I couldn't find the right fireworks picture that I could insert in the ear without it looking awkward.

Debbie, hope that Brandon is feeling much better soon.

So my car is in the shop today! Gee, another unforeseen bill in the works!

This is what I have been up to.
summerbright004.jpg

Not too early to work on summer stuff is it?
That is beautiful!!!

Goodluck with the car!:wizard:

Yes it is! If only they'd tell the CMs the truth, too, they could be as smart and informed as we are! :rotfl:
Oh I doubt that.;)

I'm thrilled to say that, now as adults, we just ate our Myuki creation after taking some pictures and marveling at it for a while :rolleyes1
Joe did too. We waited til we got back to the room so I could take more photos of it first. A CM in Canada told him she saved hers for years but then it was in the sun one day and melted so Joe made sure to shield his creation from the sun with his hat.

Edit: WARNING! The following picture is not from my own home, and is not the name of one of my unborn daughters. Sorry for any confusion! :duck:
Tomorrow I'm hitting up Michael's to get started on a couple names of my own! If they turn out half this cute, I'll share! :teeth:
That's really cute. Hope we get to see yours soon!

Something orange was in my laundry.
:wizard: Good luck with that! I have had good luck with Oxi clean too.

All this talk of baby names is bringing back such memories. The day we found out about the twins we started talking about names (we were driving to DL that night, so it kept us occupied and awake!). We settled on Mary Louise quite early. Mary was Alan's grandmother's name, and Louise was my grandmother's name. We thought that was a neat way to honor both of them. The other name took us most of the week at DL to iron out. We finally settled on Leslie, to honor Alan's dad, and Gayle, to honor my mom.

Once the babies were born, and we sent out birth announcements, we got a call from Alan's Aunt Mary (also named for his grandmother). She was thrilled with both names, but wondered why we chose Louise for Mary's middle name. We explained it was to honor the 2 great-grandmothers, and she told us that Mary's best friend for 2 years was named Louise. They were both performers with a traveling acting company, and they roomed together before Louise left the troupe to get married. At this point, warning bells went off in my head! I called my dad and asked him about his mother. Seems like his mom, Louise, was an actor with a traveling theatrical company. For 2 years she roomed with a girl she called "Mamie". I asked if that was her real name, and he poked around in his mother's journals and found out that her name was Mary Carling. You guessed it! Alan's grandmother and my grandmother were best friends for 2 years while they were performers! Small world, huh????
WOW!!! What a small world!

I have one or two that you can borrow :rolleyes1
I'm not surprised.

Guess what?!! Rees FINALLY had his appointment yesterday with the GI practice after close to 7 months of trying to get in there (the one I was mentioning from the beginning of this thread). WOW! DH says it's harder to get in there than it is to break into Fort Know. We saw the loveley GI doctor who originally admitted him to the hospital in October and did the Endoscopy and biopsies. She was thrilled with his progress and how he was doing. Rees weighed 46.6 pounds, up from 38 (his low) at the end of November. She couldn't believe it was the same child she saw in the hospital. Of course Rees' favorite part of the day (after the 4 HOUR doctor's appointment) was lunch at our local Regional Airport and watching the planes. He and DS love it so much there that we are having their birthday party there (for the boys). DD is having a few friends to lunch at the American Girl Store.

GI Doctor wants us to follow-up in her office in 2 to 3 weeks because... if Rees maintains his weight or gains weight during that time period, she will take the G-tube out! Hip Hip Hooray!!!! Rees has been off the tube feeds since early January and is eating fantastically. So please say a prayer that he continues to do so well, and this may all be over in just a few short weeks. He is thriving in school and is so happy to be back with his friends and teachers. We are so very lucky to have such a fantastic team for him at his Elementary school and Physical Therapy.

And, no update would be complete without letting you know we have rescheduled our celebratory Disney trip to the beginning of May. As Rees reminded me today, "60 more days, Mom!"

Thank you, as always, for your continued prayers and support. God bless.
That is great news! Good luck to John too.:wizard:

Thanks, I am just nervous since I have never had it done before.
 Not fun but really not too bad. They are better than they used to be 10+ years ago.

Well, here we are! DH and I are both off today! :rolleyes1 No clue what we will be doing all day! We talked about taking stuff to the storage unit. We need to find a baby gift for his supervisor, too. The baby is a 9 month old girl. She comes home next week.:goodvibes If it is warm outside maybe we will take his new camera out somewhere. DS and I have eye appoinments this afternoon, but not until 3 PM.

Have a great day, everyone!
Enjoy your day off!

I'd like to request some prayers for Julie, please. I received an email from her last night that she's on partial bed rest at 29 weeks (she's having a little boy, too!). She was spotting and cramping all weekend, and her blood pressure is really high (she gave me some other specific details, but I'll leave it at that for now). She runs an at-home daycare, so of course, she's worried about the kids and parents, along with the financial impact. Thanks for keeping her in your thoughts!

Have a good day DDA!
Prayers for Julie and her little boy!:wizard:

I was inspired by yours and a design on a coffee mug to give this one a try, it isn't exactly what I was going for but I couldn't get the fireworks to look right.

Very nice!!!

Hope Brandon and your DH recover quickly!

Thanks everybody!

It wasn't bad at all. Very embarassing to stand in front of strangers with the girls hanging out but other than that it went fine. The office I went to had a separate waiting room for woman having any kind of sono, mammo, mri etc. All woman techs & all ladies in the waiting room. The room was pretty for a radiology waiting room. Lots of florals & muted tones & beautiful furniture almost like an someone's apartment. They had a lovely table with cookies & petit fors on it. Of course I waited for the room to be empty before I took a cookie!:rotfl:

I'm glad it's over with! It does sound like a nice little waiting room, though -- that's at least a little bonus! :)

Debbie, I hope Brandon feels better when he wakes up!

Deb, did you say you had the Convaid Cruiser? I think that's what they are going to recommend for Rees. He has the appt Thursday with the Mobility people to order whatever we choose.

Hunter has a convaid cruiser. It worked very well for us at WDW and it folds pretty compactly which makes it very portable around town :thumbsup2

Good Morning DDA,

Denise - What wonderful news about Rees, I hope that things go as well with John.

Jennifer - I hope today is much better for you, if Pixie Dust could take away the pain it would be gone. Love the name letters.

Well SIL got home yesterday, and we had Brandon's stuff loaded in the car and the Pizza ordered, when Brandon started throwing up, well I couldn't take him home and have him expose his Daddy to what he has so we unloaded everything and kept him here. DH deliverred the pizza and brought back his medicines, by the time DH got back he was burning up, he did manage to keep the medicine down and his fever broke after about an hour, he felt well enough to eat a little bit.

This morning he has been vomiting constantly and couldn't keep any meds down.

Deb - I loved the new design, I definitely preferred the first one, I was inspired by yours and a design on a coffee mug to give this one a try, it isn't exactly what I was going for but I couldn't get the fireworks to look right.

I hope Brandon shakes it quickly :wizard:

I like the design too. I know what you mean about not being able to find what your looking for when trying to put a design together. It is soooo frustrating.

We got at least 8 inches of snow overnight. Amazingly the kids had school :cool1: I was also able to bring Colby to his speech eval. She did a brief eval and has determined that she needs to do a full eval to determine the full extent of his needs. I actually thought that she was doing that today  Once that is done they will see if he qualifies for in home therapy. We are hoping to get things started soon as it would be nice to have him at the appropriate age level when he starts school.

I did a bit of shopping while Colby was at school and I managed to find a ski outfit for myself. I hated to spend the money, but I haven't had a nice set since high school. I'll see what Chris thinks when he gets home.

Only one???!! ;) Sounds like you had an okay experience.

Karen - I hope you hear from your mom soon.

I am sure there is a firework picture somewhere! Just keep looking!

I hope it turns out OK, Karen!

DH and I went to the insurance office, then we went to Best Buy because he read on a forum that they had the flash for the Sony marked down from $300 to $70. The store we went to had it for $300. BUT there were other Best Buy stores showing it for $60! They called the next closest one but they were sold out. I tried to get the guy to sell it to us for $60 but he said he couldn't. All they had left was the display model, so it really would NOT have been a big deal to give it to us for the price the other Best Buy was selling them for! He talked to the manager on duty, who said she wasn't authorized to reduce the price like that. So they were going to talk to some OTHER manager and call us back. We drove to the sold out store to make SURE they were out. And they were, BUT the guy called to have the flash (a NEW one, not a display) transferred from a far away store. He will call us when it comes in and we can go pick it up. Luckily we didn't have to pay for it so if it never comes in we're not out $60.

From there we went to Sam's and had new tires put on DH's car. Now we are home having some lunch before we go get DS for the eye Dr.

Deb - what kind of speech issues does Colby have?

Sounds like a productive day, Elizabeth. I hope you get the flash.

Deb - what kind of speech issues does Colby have?

He has some delayed articulation. The most noticeable is that when he says his name he says Toby instead of Colby. When people call him Toby he gets very angry then shuts down. He is at the point that when people ask his name he says that he doesn't know, ask my Mom. :sad2:

Thanks! DH hopes so, too!:rotfl2: It just boggles my mind that a nationwide chain has no policy in place about pricing.:headache:
It may turn out that they call and say we can have the display at the lower price, but we don't need 2 of the same thing and I would rather have one in a sealed box than one that everybody has played with in the store.

We got the new planning DVD in the mail today :cool1: Colby and I are going to watch it now.
