DDA Chapter 4

I freeze my leftover potato soup broth. Then when I want to make more, I cook up extra potatoes and add to the broth. If any potatoes were left in the broth they break down and help thinken the soup.

Anything with potatoes, stay away from freezing. It changes their consistency and they turn all mealy and gross!

Yup they can be frozen. My sister buys the red skinned mashed potatoes from BJ's all the time and they thaw and cook up nicely.

I thought mashed potatoes were okay, too.

That does sound good! I lurk on the WFD thread a few times a week. The woman who posts pictures of all her meals should get her own Food Network show!

I've also been doing this...for my SIL. She's bored with what she's been cooking for us all, so I copied some recipes.

Glynis -- your lime chicken is what she cooked last night -- fabulous! All the adults loved it, none of the kids liked it. I think my SIL had it too runny. We're going to drain it better next time and do nachos -- then I think they'll eat it. That recipe is a real keeper -- thank you for sharing it!

They haven't returned y'alls thread back, have they? I was looking for it trying to get some of the recipes that haven't been re-posted on the new thread. Also, I hope your cold is better.

Guess what?!! Rees FINALLY had his appointment yesterday with the GI practice after close to 7 months of trying to get in there (the one I was mentioning from the beginning of this thread). WOW! DH says it's harder to get in there than it is to break into Fort Know. We saw the loveley GI doctor who originally admitted him to the hospital in October and did the Endoscopy and biopsies. She was thrilled with his progress and how he was doing. Rees weighed 46.6 pounds, up from 38 (his low) at the end of November. She couldn't believe it was the same child she saw in the hospital. Of course Rees' favorite part of the day (after the 4 HOUR doctor's appointment) was lunch at our local Regional Airport and watching the planes. He and DS love it so much there that we are having their birthday party there (for the boys). DD is having a few friends to lunch at the American Girl Store.

GI Doctor wants us to follow-up in her office in 2 to 3 weeks because... if Rees maintains his weight or gains weight during that time period, she will take the G-tube out! Hip Hip Hooray!!!! Rees has been off the tube feeds since early January and is eating fantastically. So please say a prayer that he continues to do so well, and this may all be over in just a few short weeks. He is thriving in school and is so happy to be back with his friends and teachers. We are so very lucky to have such a fantastic team for him at his Elementary school and Physical Therapy.

And, no update would be complete without letting you know we have rescheduled our celebratory Disney trip to the beginning of May. As Rees reminded me today, "60 more days, Mom!"

Fabulous news! I'm so glad Rees is thriving. Sending more PD for John and for you as you guys wait for a diagnosis. Has your Grandma made any decisions on treatment/no treatment yet?

Anne Marie -- I've had lots of mammograms, and I have a big chest. I don't think it's bad at all. Maybe my view is skewed by my Mom's breast cancer, so I'd rather have the mammo and catch something quickly then to go through what she did.

Elizabeth -- It looks like a beautiful day here and not nearly as windy as yesterday. Enjoy your days off!

Some people have been talking about it on the boards for probably close to 2 years now... with artist's renderings, etc. Even Disney CMs were completely in the dark, and yet DISers were finding stuff! I doubt they deny it much more recently

I think they try to deny new DVC properties because they think it will hinder sales at the existing properties. DH & I were talking about it again last night. We'll buy in eventually.

This would be me. First I would burn myself and then melt the damn thing.

Me, too. But I wouldn't stop there. I would probably catch the house on fire, set off the sprinklers, flood the building, etc.

We can buy those homeopathic pink-eye drops but they don't have any sort of antibiotic in them. DS used to get it ALL the time, and we always had to go get prescription drops. Luckily Momboss isn't leaving until this afternoon so she has time to get things taken care of if the Urgent Care wasn't able to help her.

Something orange was in my laundry. I have no idea what it was, it is gone, but it has left orange throughout all the clothes. I've rewashed and it won't come out. I've even bleached the orange that was on white. No luck. So many things are ruined, as well as one of Alyssa's favorite dresses. Any suggestions?

Yikes! Be sure to check all of the pockets of everything that was in that load - I bet the crayon is still in there somewhere. DH has left gum in his pockets several times and it melted in there. Luckily it didn't get on anything else in the dryer.

The only suggestion I have is to toss everything. I hate when that kind of stuff happens. Emma and Molly are notorious for leaving lip gloss in their pockets.

That's why I always threw away any lipgloss Sister left laying around. It is messy, and it made her face break out. She also seemed to have an endless supply of it.

We never had tub toys here. Bath time was for washing, not playing. In and out, no muss no fuss. I know...mean mommy!

DS had tub toys when he was little, but bathing my charges is much more of an in & out affair. Princess likes to sit in the bathtub after all the water drains out, without toys! It is a lengthy process just to convince her to get out and get dry!

Well, here we are! DH and I are both off today! No clue what we will be doing all day! We talked about taking stuff to the storage unit. We need to find a baby gift for his supervisor, too. The baby is a 9 month old girl. She comes home next week. If it is warm outside maybe we will take his new camera out somewhere. DS and I have eye appoinments this afternoon, but not until 3 PM.

I'd like to request some prayers for Julie, please. I received an email from her last night that she's on partial bed rest at 29 weeks (she's having a little boy, too!). She was spotting and cramping all weekend, and her blood pressure is really high (she gave me some other specific details, but I'll leave it at that for now). She runs an at-home daycare, so of course, she's worried about the kids and parents, along with the financial impact. Thanks for keeping her in your thoughts!

Yikes! Be sure to check all of the pockets of everything that was in that load - I bet the crayon is still in there somewhere. DH has left gum in his pockets several times and it melted in there. Luckily it didn't get on anything else in the dryer.

I have. No evidence of anything. The only way that I've deduced that it is crayon is that I was able to scrap some off and smell it. It has that waxy crayon smell. I'm going to put them in to soak when I get home today.

Good Morning DDA,

Denise - What wonderful news about Rees, I hope that things go as well with John.

Jennifer - I hope today is much better for you, if Pixie Dust could take away the pain it would be gone. Love the name letters.

Well SIL got home yesterday, and we had Brandon's stuff loaded in the car and the Pizza ordered, when Brandon started throwing up, well I couldn't take him home and have him expose his Daddy to what he has so we unloaded everything and kept him here. DH deliverred the pizza and brought back his medicines, by the time DH got back he was burning up, he did manage to keep the medicine down and his fever broke after about an hour, he felt well enough to eat a little bit.

This morning he has been vomiting constantly and couldn't keep any meds down.

Deb - I loved the new design, I definitely preferred the first one, I was inspired by yours and a design on a coffee mug to give this one a try, it isn't exactly what I was going for but I couldn't get the fireworks to look right.
