DDA Chapter 3

I'm on the phone now chatting with Bob and we are discussing the possibility of him coming in Aug. We are even talking about driving! ACK!

We are driving in August . Ack ack!!!!:rotfl2: :scared:

No driving! :scared: 2 days in the car on each end of the trip would send me over the edge! If we lived within 12 hours or so I would consider it, but from here it is just too far.

It's 822 miles from here. So we could do like Robyn did....drive for 8-10 hours, sleep and be fresh for our first day at the park.

Robyn - do you have any idea about how much you paid for gas? What hotel did you stay at and in what city? Was the cost reasonable? I'm preparing my Color Coded Matrix of Costs. :lmao:

When we drove last (2003) it took us 17 hours to get there & 20 to come home...

I am glad I can be helpful!:lmao: Nothing wrong with some personal coolent. Now Dana would not drop some ice cubes down his pants no matter how hot it got!:rotfl2:

:teacher:

Mapquest says 17+ hrs for us but cheaper then flights

Well, I'm about 3/4 of the way done with my shirt. I have to finish the neckline (elastic) and hem. There are also a couple of finishing touches on the sleeves that I need to make. It won't take much more than an hour to finish tomorrow.

Love all the scrapbook pages.

I read everything but boy you ladies were chatty.

:wizard: and  to all
Good night

How do you like Plato's Closet? How are the prices? Rachel has been talking about going there, but we haven't made it yet.

today at ours was stuff a bag for $10....we saved just under $100 off the clearance prices and got a TON of stuff. It is great because they are picky about what they do and don't take....high end second hand shop for junior sizes. We've done good just paying regular prices too.

Cassidy would highly recommend it!!

So apparently I'm a bad mommy. :( Terra has had a cough for week or two. It started with the congestion a week or so ago and the cough is lingering. The last couple of days it has gotten a little worse - deeper and more hacking. So what do I do today....let her play outside for an hour. The temps weren't terrible - mid40s when we were out - and I did bundle her up a lot, but it was still chilly. I just felt so bad because she wanted to build a "Snow Phil" and do some sledding so much. So we build the Snow Phil, took a few runs down the hill, I pulled her a few circles around the yard and we had a great snowball fight. Lots of fun all around. However, she hasn't stopped coughing since we came inside. :( Not much coughing while we were out, but constant now. Hopefully it will clear up by Monday, but if not, I think that it's time to call the doctor.

sounds like Terra might have bronchitis...that's how it presents itself in my family. Hope the sweetpea feels better fast!!!:wizard:

How totally cool! I bet it would be really good with barbecue potato chips!

yummy....if I hadn't sworn off the big bags of chips (we eat a bag at one sitting...too expensive and not too healthy!!) it would be really great!!

Lindsay - It is an Evolt 410. Or something like that. The model that starts with a "5" is the one with image stabilization. I think it would be fun to introduce our DHs. :) I would like to meet Jonathan, too!

Hmm, I don't think that's the one she has, but I could be wrong.

Jonathan has 2 books on digital photography that he really likes. One is Rick Sammon's Guide to Digital Photography (by Rick Sammons), and the other is the Magic Lantern Guides - they have one for almost every kind of digital camera out there. Might be something for DH to look into!

Sorta/kinda well not really.....I only have breakfast at CP and dinner at CG for May 6th. Haven't really thought about anything else. SO....we are wide open. We arrive on the 4th.

Do you have plans for Sunday night or Monday? I would LOVE to meet up with you.

I am redoing my plans, so I don't know yet, but we will definitely have to figure something out! I would love to meet you, and I know my mom will be game, too! I've kind of thrown my initial schedule out, as my trip will take on a different vibe with my mom - she doesn't like some of the same restaurants we do, plus I made some of our initial plans around staying at the Poly.

I plan to work on them tomorrow, so I will let you know!

Lindsay - The salon was hopping today! I am actually not sure which one is Mark. They have Landon in the corner right next to the break room since he is only there for a week out of each month. I did see a new guy there today but I didn't ask Landon about him. A lot of times when I go Landon is there by himself so the "new" guy may not be that new!:rotfl:
Landon shaved his head to be an extra in a movie. He never did get around to telling me the details on that. He is still just adorable without hair.

Mark's station is the 3rd from the front on the opposite side (or, that's at least where it used to be!). He has salt & pepper hair, and quite a Louisiana drawl. Who knows what's up with him, though - he called sometime this fall wanting to know if I was okay since he hadn't heard from me, and then proceeded to tell me he had injured his hands. :confused3 I haven't talked to him since.

Lots of :wizard: :wizard: that the cough goes away soon, and that it doesn't necessitate a trip to the doctor! I'm sure the ice cream and s'mores will help! ;)

Sounds like Alyssa needs to refine her technique. Chose ice cream, then ask to watch the movie when you get home.;)

I thought the same thing! :rotfl: :rotfl:

Lindsay- Did you get the package yet?

Yes, it came today! :thumbsup2 (Or it could have been yesterday, since we didn't get the mail!) THANKS AGAIN!!!

PM me and let me know what I owe you - I forgot to check the envelope for the postage!

My little one is just a bit cranky. It is my DH who is the crank and a half! Don't know if he's not feeling well or if he's just had enough of winter but it is getting old!

:wizard:

He worked for Fannie May and just took a buyout in the spring or summer. Now he is a masseuse.

Robyn - give him the name of Hiatus Spa (www.hiatusspa.com). This is a new spa that is getting a lot of buzz in town, and they have a really neat concept - I know I'm interested. I was doing some research on them the other day, and when Googling, there were listings for ads they placed for masseuse's. They just opened in December.

you all must have drank some chatty juice the last couple of days!!!

We are going to church and then bowling (for 42 cents a game) then home to watch the game. We are going to take sandwiches and chips to eat on the way from church to bowling and we have some nummy snacks for supper.

If we ever get our guys together, Jonathan is a good tutor on cameras! He has taught his mom, SIL, and his coworker how to use them. :thumbsup2

Tammi - I'm guessing it's because the std. rooms at the BC have 2 queens, and a daybed, so they can sleep 5. The configurations for the studios and 1 BR don't have a sleeping spot for a 5th person.

I've read on the DVC board in the past that MS will allow you to book 5 people into a 1 BR, but their line is that they don't provide anything for that 5th person - no extra towels, no additional linens, etc. I'm guessing you could bring a blow-up bed for the 5th person, especially if you drive.

The only downside is that the 5th person wouldn't get a room key, so that could prove to be a problem for evening EMH's.

Good luck!
Can he come to VA and tutor me??

I've been reading over on the DVC thread about the room occupancies. Some people are such sticklers about it!

Are you going for the Kitchensink? :thumbsup2
No, you're already taken. :rotfl:

Tonight, we gave Alyssa the choice of going out for ice cream or watching Beauty and the Beast. She chose the movie. What is wrong with my child?!! :sad2: Seriously, it's not like we never watch movies around here!!! :rotfl:
A few weeks ago we were out to dinner at a buffet and my Alyssa decided that she had had enough ice cream and wanted more fruit! :faint:

Don't be so hard on yourself Tia.

It took me quite some time to figure out the purpose of this picture. Then I finally got it!

Elizabeth - good luck on the ADRs.

Elin - love the new pictures. Sounds like your trip is really going to be nice.

She doesn't know about the employee discount... :rotfl: But she did mention that every single woman she saw had on extraordinary diamond jewelry. Since she and Kristin don't like diamonds very much (silly fools) I guess I will be forced to have to wear any that she receives. I wonder how high I can stack those rings on my fingers?? :confused3

I have booked a savanna-view Club Level room but it is at rack rate as there were no AAA discounts available on those rooms. Bob and I started talking about what we really wanted to do on this trip. We will be celebrating our 35th wedding anniversary (a couple of months late, but we can't get away in July this year) so we talked about how to best splurge on this shorter trip.

We both decided there are some amazing signature restaurants we would love to experience so have decided this will be the "September to Remember" definitive food and beverage trip. We are having Chanon book a savanna-view room with the Deluxe Dining package. Even if free dining is an option, I think the AAA discount on the room will offset that cost and make it about the same. (Chanon: I am assuming that Club Level is not available for the discounted AAA package either, but if it is we probably need to talk again... :rotfl: )

We will have a total of 24 TS and 16 snack credits to use for the 5 days we are there. That way we can eat an early breakfast at Boma (or somewhere else, including room service if we wish), use our two snack credits at the F&W Festival booths and then have a late dinner at any restaurant we want (including in-room dining and excluding V&A and Bistro, I think). Everything except the gratuities and alcohol will be paid for already. We won't have to think about the budget if we want to eat lobster at $55 pp or a $20 appetizer that might appeal to one of us.

A girl that doesn't like diamonds?! :scared1: :scared1: What is wrong with her??? ;)

If your hands get too weighted down, I'd be happy to take one off your hands! :thumbsup2

Your September trip sounds divine - I hope everything works out perfectly for you guys!!!

well im home from dinner--it was fun, but im exhausted
But i got to talk to Frankie--one of our new friends that works on cruise ships--he only can use his cell phone on saturdays so it was so nice to talk to him.

I had an interesting experience tonight though--i did a split in the ladies room haha
I went to get a paper towel and there was water on the floor and i basically did a split--grabbed onto the sink so i didnt fall---my brothers girlfriend was in the bathroom with me and was hysterical..thats my dumb move for the night!

Ouch, Jen! Glad you were able to catch yourself, and I hope you get to feeling better tomorrow! Tell your mom "happy birthday!"

Of course!

Wow, I had no idea, Chanon. What kind of discount is it? I assume it depends on the cruise?

Well, I'm about 3/4 of the way done with my shirt. I have to finish the neckline (elastic) and hem. There are also a couple of finishing touches on the sleeves that I need to make. It won't take much more than an hour to finish tomorrow.

Can't wait to see it!

Well, I think I'm going to head to bed. I got my hair colored earlier today, but have just felt kind of puny this afternoon/evening. I'm hoping another good night's sleep will give me more energy tomorrow - I have a lot to get done around here!

Good night, DDA! :cloud9:

It was nice. I had the salmon with coconut rice and Bob had the ribeye. We enjoyed it, plus we each had a glass of wine. Had to pass on dessert though, we were stuffed. Good food and good service.

I am delighted that your experience there was better than I have had! YIPPEE!!

Good night, DDA!

Thanks!

I'm heading to bed too. Good night everyone that is left.

Deb - before I forget... QVC's Today's Special Value is a Garmin!

It looks exactly like the one I bought tonight at Best Buy. I did my homework and found that Walmart online had the best deal for the Garmin Nuvi 200W. At least the best deal for retailors that had name recogintion. I called Best Buy and they matched the price and had it in stock. I think he will love it.

I think that Chris has decided to get an upperend Magellan for us. He has Cabelas gift cards to use. He likes that it is AAA preferred.
Elin,

Very cute card. I really like the Wine Cooler.

Congrats on your daughter getting both job offers. I know she will get the one she wants. Boston is not that far away. We could do a DDA meet. I have not been there in over 20 years. I would love to visit there again. We could ride the Ducks :goodvibes :lmao: :lmao:

We're in on a Boston meet :thumbsup2

Well, I have the material cut out for one shirt. I'm amazed at myself. I didn't give up! The new cutting razors sure make it easier than using a pair of scissors. I have to get better at using them though.

I'm still using scissors :goodvibes I finished my shirt today. Unfortunately I made a size 8 without checking the measurements. A simplicity size 8 is MUCH smaller than a size 8 that I can buy at the store so it does not fit. I will be mailing it to Vicki in hopes that it will fit one of her girls. I tried to get Nick to model it, but there was no way that he was putting a woman's shirt on :rotfl:

I ordered pizza for Gary & the boys & myself a salad. But I think I am going to eat a little bit of the pizza, it smells so good. I have not been eating very good lately :rolleyes1

We haven't been eating healty either. Maybe AFTER the superbowl we can get back on track.

We had bowling this morning. It was a long day there. The lanes had a lot of problems that slowed everything down. We came home and ate lunch and I decided to take a nap. I fell asleep for 5 hours :scared1: I have no idea why I was so tired, but I know that I must have needed it. I''m heading back to bed soon :thumbsup2

I spent the rest of the night sewing my very lovely, very small shirt. I'll run out tomorrow and pick up more supplies and hopefully get one made for me that fits :rotfl:
