DDA Chapter 26

Are you home or at the hospital, still? I'm so glad the girls decided to stay put a while longer! My twins did the same thing. Contractions every 10 minutes, drove to hospital, and was immediately checked in to the "hotel Hospital." I stayed there for another week and a half before the girls were finally delivered. Do they think you'll be able to hold out for a while more?

we did not go to the hospital last night. The contractions stopped right about the time I had decided to call the Dr. So far just occasional ones today.

I so agree. espeically since my OB left today for Bolivia. One of her kids is studding their this year so she went to see her. She will not be back until Dec. 26th.

UGH...just lost a large post.:headache:

Elin-glad you're feeling better.

Theresa-nice to hear of a happy Abi!

Becky-did you do any job searching in FL?

Jennifer-hope the girls can hang in for a few more weeks.:wizard:

Deb-thinking of Hunter today.

I survived the root canal and the dentist got me in Friday to do my crown so that tooth should be all set. Now my front crown is loose again. I think the endodontist did it-it wasn't loose before I went to see him.

I have to call the insurance company Monday and fight with them. They paid the lab for my preop testing but don't want to pay for the actual physical-the hospital required it within 30 days of surgery so they couldn't just go with the one I had in July. They also refused to pay for a PSA test (prostate) for DH. His first one with his physical was high so they did a 2nd to be sure the test wasn't just off. They paid for both of those. Then he went to a urologist (they paid for that) and he put him on an antibiotic and then tested again a month later. They don't want to pay for that 3rd test. The alternative of a biopsy was about $4,000 the last time he had one. His Dad had prostate cancer so they can't just ignore it. They did pay for DH to go back to urologist and get the results. I think he charged something like $250 for that visit when he could have just called DH to say everything was OK.

I've been thinking of my brother today.:sad1:

Bernadette -

Sorry about the insurance hassle, I sure feel your pain. I think we got ours straightened out, but my daughter is supposed to have surgery on the 21st for a deviated septum, the insurance company is waveing on the pre certification, I told her to make sure they have it before anything is done, there is no way she can afford to pay out of pocket for the surgery.

Bernadette - I am glad your root canal/crown mess is over with, but sheesh... the endo probably did loosen the other crown. That is crummy. And your fight with the insurance company makes me so mad.

Debbie - I hope your daughter's insurance company comes through with her required paperwork in time!

Kristin is going through a "fight" with her dental insurance; they agree to pay a percentage, but when the bills are all paid, there is a $300 discrepancy. That is outrageous! That is a LOT of money for her to shell out when she already paid the 20% that she was required to pay up front.

In that same vein... I cannot wait (insert the biggest amount of sarcasm here that you can possibly imagine   ) to see how our COBRA coverage goes. It takes forever for it to kick in and I am scared to death that something will happen to either Bob or me before it does.

Ditto from me!

I'm surprised to hear that COBRA does not pick up immmediately. That's how it is here with the county.

Two days and a wake-up for me!!!

I'm really hoping is a very quiet day at work. My head is already on vacation, and I don't want to do anything today. Plus it's raining. Yuck. At least we aren't getting all the snow that seems to be blanketing the midwest. We are having our squad party/dinner/white elephant gift exchange after work tonight, so that should be fun.

Insurance sucks. We had a blue cross rep out our benefits meeting this week. Screening Mammograms and colon/rectal screenings are covered 100% you just pay the copay. Diagnostic mammograms or diagnostic colon/rectal are subject to the deductible and 20% thereafter. If an exam starts out as a screening, but then they do more making it diagnostic it changes from the copay to the deductible and 20%. Yearly obgyn visits are covered by just the copay until they do anything that gets sent to the lab then the deductible/20% applies to the lab work. They really get you coming and going

Hopefully your cobra insurance will kick in immediately and there will be no gap in coverage. That is how it is supposed to work :wizard:

Oh, it will pick up from where our regular insurance left off. However, it can take up to 6 weeks for it to become "automatic" and until then, if anything happens we have to pay out of pocket and be reimbursed!

Oh, gotcha. I thought you meant you were WITHOUT insurance for weeks.
