Good morning!
A busy day on tap here, I am going to pick up my niece and taking her to see "Mickey's Magic Show" at the local arena here... Told her we would have an aunt jen day--it should be fun!

Debbie-boy do I understand the funk.....I keep having to remind myself that I used to have quite a Christmas collection. I haven't gotten quite back in the Christmas spirit but I know it's getting better. The last two years were horrendous at Christmastime.

Abi spent all day helping at the music department's craft fair....she was tired when we went to dinner so she was a bit slap happy. We went to an amazing (and amazingly expensive) French Bistro. After she was done with her grilled ham and cheese sandwich she said,"I want that recipe because it was sent from heaven above":rotfl2:She kept up on it and had us in stitches, including, "I wonder how big the Lord's cow is for him to send that cheese." The sorbet was, "Just a step below".:woohoo: It is so good to have more days of smiles and laughs than what it used to be around her dad.

Hooray for a happy child! Glad to hear she's doing better!!!

Just got back from seeing Harry Potter. I liked it better than the last installment but I fear I am not going to like the final chapter. :(

I loved this installment the best!! I'm excited for the last chapter! I don't know how I'm going to wait until summer!!!

Alan and I took the kids to a fun display yesterday. We had to drive about an hour to a small town called "Midway". It's roots are heavily Swiss, so all the buildings along the main street look like they belong in the Alps! It's a darling community. Anyway, at one of the churches, there is an interfaith display of nativity scenes.

There were rooms and rooms filled with different creche's. It was amazing. From figures made out of rocks and pinecones, to a set made out of Fontanina marble from Venice! One entire room was set aside for nativity scenes from around the world! My kids were amazed at how different cultures picture the scene! There was even a nativity scene carved onto 2 wooden matchsticks!!! You had to use a magnifying glass to see them. Incredible!!! I snapped exactly one picture in the exhibit, and security swooped down on me and told me, firmly but politely, that no pictures are allowed. I was bummed, but put my camera away.

In one room, there was a puppet stage, and some teenage children did a marionette puppet show re-enacting the story out of Luke. It was amazing to see my kids all sitting quietly and watching... even Timothy!

On our way home, we looked at different neighborhood light displays. We are hoping to get up to Salt Lake City to see the lights at Temple Square next weekend. That was what we were originally going to do last night, but Leslie has developed a really bad cough, and a slight fever, so we did the warm drive, instead. I'll stay home from church with her today, and, hopefully get her to the point where she can go to school tomorrow.

Have a great day, everyone!

One of my posts from last night disappeared :confused3

Elin Chris loves his ornament. He was so excited. He said he may need to make his car look like that one :rotfl2:

Bernadette - could you pm me the instructions or site for the instructions of the crayon holder that you made a while back? I'd love to make some for my kid's stockings this year.

Thanks

I went to see Tangled today with one of my close friends. We really enjoyed it. I will definitely have to get that on DVD when it comes out. Who am I kidding? It is Disney, I'd buy it anyway. :lmao:

Tammi's Alyssa was terrific in "The Nutcracker" this afternoon! :goodvibes
How great that you got to see her. I bet she was great!

The last two years were horrendous at Christmastime.
:hug:Last year was a tough one for me. Next Sat is the anniversary of my brother's death. I can't believe it's been a year.:sad1: I already heard of several fatal pedestrian accidents this year too.:sad2:

This the the car that Elin gave Chris

Cool!

Hello, DDA! :goodvibes

Hope everyone is having a good weekend!
Hi! Saw on the CL that you got all your ADR's for June. I didn't realize you were staying CL next year. That's nice. Gotta love that turndown service!;)

Sounds like a fun day!

I've also made it for twistable colored pencils-great for traveling-no need to sharpen them. If made a colored pencil one again I would put a flap on the top so the pencils don't fall out.

check out my facebook for Santa pics of the girls
Glad you were able to go but I'm not on facebook.

Good morning. :)

Thanks, Elin. She had so much fun this year! I'm sorry we didn't get to chat more.

Jennifer - your FB pictures are so cute! Um, didn't you just have Virginia?! How did she get so big already!

My parents are leaving today, so I will get my routine back. It's a double-edged sword. :(

Single digits!!!

Question for teachers, past and present.....would you rather get a GC that you could use on yourself, or would you prefer a GC for a teacher supply store?

Tammi, I am truly thrilled when parents give me anything at all for Christmas. And I know it's cliche, but the notes about how much the kids are enjoying school and learning really do mean the most to me.

When I bought teacher gift cards, I tried to get them some place that could be used for the classroom or for them personally, such as Barnes and Noble, Staples, AC Moore, Michael's, or even Target. I spend A LOT of my own money for the classroom, so a gift card to a teacher supply card would also be a gift to me, but I also shop in those other stores for the classroom.

Thanks, Beth. I usually get GCs for supplies for Christmas gifts and then GCs for Starbucks/Panera/Etc. for end of year gifts. Then I got to thinking, would GCs for supplies be equivalent to me getting, say, a vacuum for a present? Sorry if I offended anyone that would truly relish opening a vacuum Christmas morning. ;)

This! I totally agree with all of this. However, I really agree that it's the notes and personal letters that mean the most to a teacher!

Well, it's a snow day here. I swear that I am living in the land of wimps! I try to justify it by saying that it is very hilly, but really, I think that they just don't know enough about keeping roads clean and driving in the snow. (And I am one of the wimpiest people I know about driving in the snow.) This snow wouldn't even be on the radar where I grew up. Syracuse and Buffalo would be laughing at us!

I don't work on Mondays, and I had a full day of starting my Christmas shopping planned. I guess that is out, and I'll have to fit it around other things this week. I will have fun with the kids, though.

I would rather get one for me to use to splurge on something for myself. (I budget a certain amount of money for "class supplies" per year and some can even be written off on income taxes.)

I also agree with Beth and Glynis that the most touching presents I receive are the hand made notes from my students and cards from their parents. Those are the things I keep too!

Hi I am back from a great time with the girls at Disney!!!!! We got alot done in our short trip.
