It is rather expensive but it includes everything you need, gear, bait, guide, boat, drinks...I also had a 20% off coupon from the Birnbaum book. I think the price actually even went up from what it is listed on allears.

I had tried to book for BWI but they told me I would have to walk over to Yacht Club to get the boat and pay there first. Then the guide told us he had planned on picking us up at the BW and he had us pay at the end on the boat. He did drop us off at BW.

Last year we did it from the Poly and we paid at at the end at Ft Wilderness. We caught more last year but still had a great time this year.

My DH really enjoys this and he doesn't like much at Disney so I am sure if we do another family trip we'll be going fishing again too.

It was really beautiful to be out on the water at 7am both years!!!

Well, it's a done deal. We have airline tickets now. We fly down on Thursday, 9/30 and return on We're at the point of no return. I'm calling now to see if I can get DVC rooms anywhere. That should be fun with less than 1-1/2 months to our stay. Wish me luck.

There are absolutely no studios available at Disney World from 9/30-10/5. I should have known better. So this should be fun. Do we eat up points and stay in a one-bedroom (only place one is available is at Saratoga) or pay to stay at Port Orleans?

Update: We are going to book a one-bedroom at Saratoga Springs. I won't book our March trip until after our October trip. That way if we are able to switch to a studio, we won't lose points.

Are room discounts are only out through 10/2? I've seen rumors that more discounts will be out Monday. I was surprised that I could still get onto the passholder site since I let my pass expire-but I'm not quite 30 days past yet.

I didn't find any discounted (through 8/2) rooms at POR. Did find AP room at CB and studio at SSR and rooms at AKL.

It is still hot in September. Might be nice to have that washer/dryer in the 1BR.

If I calculated it right a studio at SSR would be 78 points and a 1BR would be 142 or 64 more points. Wouldn't it be cheaper to rent those points (for your next trip if you run out) than to pay OOP for another resort?

Hello, DDA!

We arrived home at about 10:00 last night. The kids had a run today in memory of their cross country coach. Since then I've been tackling the mountain of laundry and restocking the fridge. I'm tired and have a bit of post-Disney depression.

It was hot, hot, hot and much more crowded than we are used to. Overall it was a terrific trip, though. My photos are still on dh's laptop, but I'll get around to organizing/sharing them at some point.

I am not ready for real life to start up again. Matthew wants to move back to college next week (classes start the following week). He is taking my van tomorrow to take some things up to the apartment. That makes me nervous, but I have to let go at some point, right? Laura starts cross country practice on Monday. The summer is coming to an end much too quickly!

I will find out on Wednesday whether I have a job at the preschool for the coming school year. I'm not sure which way I'm hoping at this point. I really love teaching the 3's and definitely need the money but maybe I need a push to find something with more hours. I don't know if I will be offered a teaching position in the 4's class if they cancel the 3's class. I have more seniority than either of those teachers, but I'm guessing that they will let me go instead of the one 4's teacher. In that case, I won't go back next year. We'll see what Wednesday brings.

Kristine, I had a dream one night while we were in Disney World that I came to visit you. You were still on bed rest, and I never did get to see you, but the rest of your family was very welcoming. It was quite a real feeling dream. I'm not sure why I had it. Fortunately, everything was fine with both you and Jenna in the dream, so I didn't worry about it.

Bernadette, I'm really enjoying your photos! My family didn't let me get too many. It seemed like they were always rushing me. Also, none of the kids really wanted to see any characters this time. I'm glad that Emma's tests came out fine and that your foot is healing well.

Becky, you're in my thoughts.

I haven't had time to read everything, but I'll eventually catch up.

Chuck likes POR and I was thinking about using DVC points for POR because that is less points than the 1-bedroom at SSR. However, it is a $95 fee on top of that. We decided to stick with the 1-bedroom at SSR. I'll keep trying for a studio but don't expect to get lucky. We'll just have to borrow from next year if needed. Chuck really enjoys the 1-bedrooms so it will work out.

We stayed in a 1-bedroom our very first trip to SSR. It was a magical trip. That's when Nicky & Ginny got married. Can't believe it has been almost 4 years now.

Welcome Home Beth!! Yes, the summer moved too fast in some ways and way too slow in others. Poor Abi, I am sure, is chomping at the bit for school to start as there haven't been many opportunities to meet anyone her age around here (other than the neighborhood boys which the thought of makes Abi give me this face which makes me)


I can't wait for all of the trip reports and more pics. They make me smile!!

I'm so excited that I'm going to Disney in October. I really had given up that Chuck would think we could afford it. However, I've been trying really hard to cut back on my spending so that we could. We really enjoyed the Food & Wine Festival so are looking forward to that. We also are going to see about getting tickets to the 10/3 MNSSHP as we loved those. Chuck wants me to make us t-shirts for that. We got so many compliments on our Food & Wine Festival and MNSSHP t-shirts the last time we were there. He absolutely loved the attention and being able to say that I had made them with designs from my friends on here. I'm off to search for designs from all the wonderful DISigners.
